Missing was another great book by K.L Slater! She never disappoints- I always read her books the second they come out and eagerly await new releases. Missing brings us another story of a missing child, but with fresh twists and turns as only she can do! Highly recommend!

I am a huge fan of K L Slater and once again has delivered a page turning, engaging and full of twists to keep you guessing thriller.

Josie is a single parent with a sad and traumatic history. Moving on from the past has been a challenge and when Josie felt her life was going in a good direction with a beautiful daughter, a thriving business and friends around her the unthinkable happens and her daughter Ivy is taken.

The story is told by two different points in time Josie’s present and her past.
Her brother Jimmy was murdered and her mother was emotionally abusive.
The story unravels her life, the secrets she’s kept and how it has caused the current day horror of her daughter going missing.

I really enjoyed the characters who were very likeable and unlikeable which really brings the story to life for me.

Fantastic read and highly recommend. 5 stars.

Once again K.L. Slater did not disappoint! Missing was an absolutely brilliant thriller. With the usual K.L. Slater plot twists and turns. Missing was so engaging and captivating that when I was not reading it, I was busy thinking about it and anticipating when I could read it again.

Josie is a single parent with a very traumatic past. She has tried desperately to put it all behind her but when her young daughter is abducted from her babysitters yard without a trace, Josie’s past comes tumbling back to haunt her.

The story is told from two different points in time; when Josie was a child and present day. It was sad to read about Josie’s past as she grew up neglected and hated by her mother. Her only saving grace was her much younger brother Jimmy and the love they shared. But when Josie was 13, Jimmy was murdered and what little joy she had in her life, vanished. Jump forward to present day and Josie runs a successful cafe and lives in her own place with her daughter Ivy. Ivy is the apple of Josie’s eye and her reason for living and working so hard. So when Ivy suddenly vanishes without a trace, Josie feels like she’s reliving the past and fears that her daughter will suffer the same fate as her beloved younger brother Jimmy.

Well. This was not one of my favorite suspense/thriller reads. I felt like it dragged on too long, got too repetitive, and just wasn’t exciting enough to be memorable. I liked how it was written from several different viewpoints and I liked the setting and descriptions the author gave. It just wasn’t one that I was really looking forward to reading or couldn’t put down.

Wow.
I don't think I've read a book with so many twists in a long time of ever.
Characters I thought I'd hate the whole story I ended up loving and one I liked I didn't by the end.
I definitely recommend this book and this author. Cannot wait to read more.

Slater but didn't love this book as I think she has set the bar so high for herself that any deviation is a bit of a disappointment. She truly is one of my favorite 'go to" authors and I will continue to love her books!

Omg wow what a fantastic story I love k.l slater she's one of my favourite authors I always rush too buy her books when a new ones released and this was no exception thankfully I was gifted this book to read and review and I was so excited too start it this book was so full on and intense and kept me hooked until the end that twist and that end completely shocked me and I was definitely not expecting it so all I can say is read this book if you get the chance 5 stars

Another amazing read from KL Slater!
I go into this author’s books blind now because I have read all her previous works, and this one did not disappoint.
Told in a few timelines, we learn that Josie’s little brother Jimmy died in 1993 at just 8 years old, and Samuel Barlow was convicted and spent the next 25 years in prison.

26 years from that dreadful day, Samuel is released and seems to be worse than he was before prison in every aspect.
Josie has tried to rebuild her life; she has a successful business and has an 8-year-old little girl called Ivy.
Ivy is playing in the childminders garden when within a few seconds she has vanished. Josie is convinced Samuel Barlow has taken her as revenge, did he take her?
This book was full of twists, just when I thought I had sussed who did it I was left scratching my head again. The ending had me in total shock, I really didn’t expect it at all!
Another great book from a fantastic author!

Initially I was enthralled into this book and had high hopes. A relatable plot where a daughter has disappeared in the middle of the day - every parent's nightmare. However, I was left underwhelmed by the ending which I felt was far fetched and drawn out. I am sure others would enjoy.

This is one of those books where the journey is far more exciting and interesting than the destination.

I had never read anything by the author before but have heard far too many people raving about their books so was excited to give this a try. Don't get me wrong it was a good book, I just felt the last 60 pages or so with all the reveals heavily let it down. When I found out the first big twist I had already had a bad feeling about one of the people involved from quite early on and from that moment I wasn't really engaged anymore. Also, the tagline was rather misleading in my opinion.

I also couldn't really connect with Josie as a character; I felt bad for her with everything that happened with her mother as a child and also with her daughter being missing but I don't feel she was written rather well, she felt very two dimensional (which I know she was but other characters seemed more life-like).

I will try more books by this author as I felt like on the whole their books are worth a read.

I’m a big fan of K L Slater’s books , the are so immersive and keep you guessing right to the end.
Although I really enjoyed this new title , perhaps I was expecting too much . For me something was “ missing “I had sort of guessed what was going on and I didn’t feel the suspense I usually get from her books.
That being said, it was still massively better than many of the same genre books I’ve read by other authors so I’d still give it a 4* review .

I really enjoyed this quick-read, and although I guessed some of the twists, I still raced through to the end.

As always a book by this author is guaranteed to be a great read. I was almost dizzy with all the twists and turns in this one but what a brilliant story neatly tied up at the end..

I requested this book mainly because of the author. I didn't really care about anything else. Because I loved 'The Girl She Wanted' by the same author. But this, and it's going to be an unpopular opinion, book didn't really work for me.

Unlike the previous book, in this book the writing style seemed flat. Too much telling I felt.

It seemed too slow for this genre. I didn't want those unnecessary details.

Multiple points of view didn't work for me.

The 'what next?' factor was missing, as I didn't really care about the ending and all that. Chapters end just like that without any cliffhanger.

So, basically it didn't work for me. Thank you for the ARC.

Now I’m no big believer in coincidences…and neither is Josie. So when her daughter goes missing shortly after Samuels release…well I think we all know who to point the finger at. Don’t we?

This was the first KL Slater book I’ve read in some time. And for the most part I was mostly engaged through it felt a bit too long. Maybe too detailed-oriented for this type of book?

There were some fun surprises along the way but overall it just felt average to me. Not my favorite by this author. But I’m glad this author is back on my radar and will be looking out for her next.

If I know anything about K. L. Slater’s books, they’re brilliant emotional roller coasters. Fear to anger to desperation back to fear, and around again. Missing is no different. I experienced each of those emotions as I read through this deep, winding story. Could you trust the mother of the man who murdered your brother? A woman who lied for him? This was a compelling read; one that kept me up far past my bed time (I really needed that beauty sleep). But I didn’t mind because it was original and the pages almost turned themselves.

The characters are well written and fully formed, each with their own distinct personalities and perspectives on what is happening. This made it more interesting as you have to evaluate different points of view to fully appreciate the story. Josie is Ivy’s mother and is still dealing with the release of the man responsible for her brothers death 25 years earlier, before being faced with Ivy’s disappearance. Maggie is very interesting, and her perspective and actions are the cause of several plot twists. Then you have Samuel, the man who was obsessed with Josie, and killed her brother Jimmy. He is dark, manipulative and chilling, especially after spending 25 years in prison.

Overall, this was a thrilling read, one which I would definitely recommend to any readers of psychological thrillers. I gave Missing, by K. L. Slater, five stars.

I absolutely loved this book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the way the author switched between the current disappearance of Ivy and the 25 year old murder of Jimmy. Every time I said to myself 'just one more chapter' had to read on until it was the early hours of the morning and I was wiping away tears at the end of the book. I've read a lot of this author's work and think this might be her best book to date.

Really enjoyed Missing. Great style of writing. It kept me guessing the whole way through. I couldn't work out who the "Culprit" was which is always a good sign for a book.

Another brilliant read from K L Slater and as usual does not disappoint. A great plot with interesting characters and some very clever twists and turns. Loved the ending. Very much recommended.
