I always know I will get a good story when I read a Lottie Parker novel and this one did not disappoint. The case is so twisted, complicated by the fact that witnesses are teenagers and not known for being reliable. I was actually on the verge of thinking it was too complicated to solve but I should have had more faith in Lottie and her team. No matter what is going on in Lottie’s personal life, and there’s always something, she is determined to solve the case. I can’t wait for the next Lottie story...

I flew through this book. It was so good I could flip the pages fast enough. It’s a dark, sad story. The writing is phenomenal. Another great Detective Lottie Parker story. Oh the web she weaves.

Patricia, has again delivered a story full of suspense, instead of the saying of 6 degrees of separation, in this case, with every interview, every new piece of information the web of connections, each directly connected, there is only 1 degree of separation.

A mean girl, popular, spoilt, with the ability to be cruel, is this an accurate picture of her, or is she misunderstood, what else is going on in her life and is she murdered out of jealousy, revenge or for trying to right a wrong?

A young boy, trying to support his family after his fathers death, how is he connected to her death and who will be the next victim, how many more will die.

These are questions that Detective Lottie Parker must unravel.

This is a story delivers on mystery, having you guessing who it might be, but not fully putting all the pieces together til the end. If you are have read the earlier books in the series, the unsettled dynamic/conflict between the team continues, and with Boyd heading off at the end of the last book after discovering he has a son, you hope that he and Lottie will finally get their happy ending. Patricia serves up a story with reality of being a parent, a daughter to a parent with declining health and a relationship that you hope will survive the current challenges it is being thrown while showing how deeply Lottie is impacted emotionally and the responsiblity she feels for the vitims they are trying to find justice for.

Lucy has an empty house as her parents are away so throws a big party. Everyone is at it and there is plenty of drink, drugs and fun being had. But the following morning Lucys body is found in the house and no-one is talking. Lucy fought with Hannah during the party so she becomes the prime suspect but she has no recollection of the night at all. The next day another party goer is pulled from the canal. Lottie and her team have their hands full as there are a lot of threads and none of them seem to pull together. With Boyd away in Spain she has to rely on the rest of the team to help.
Yet again Patricia Gibney has given us a great story. There are a lot of twists and turns and just as you think you have it solved something else crops up. Is is great to see the team again and even some new characters coming in. As usual Lotties home life is in chaos but that makes her character all the more believable.

OMG, where to start, Lottie Parker, she's a fantastic character, always some family crisis getting in the way of murder investigations, stayed up all night to find out how Lottie was going to come out of it, not saying no more, READ IT, you'll love it

When her parents are away in Spain, Seventeen-year-old Lucy McAllister decides to throw a secret party. But the results of her decision leaves her brutally murdered by the end of the night and another one of the party goers is missing. Did they kill Lucy and go missing so not to be caught by the police?
Lottie is the first police officer on the scene but when she tries to interview the rest of the party goers. No one is saying nothing What are they all hiding? Lottie also finds out that her son was also the party and does what ever she can for him not to be question and for herself not to be taken off the case.
The story also centre Lottie’s personal life juggling her life with her job and her kids and her mother Rosie that becomes ill and ends up in hospital. Lottie wishes Boyd was with her, but he is in Spain meeting his son that he never knew he had for the first time.
The Guilty girl by Patricia Gibney is the 11th book in the Lottie Parker series and another fabulous book in the series it is. This is a darker episode in the series regarding murder, drugs and child grooming. Although I though this episode was a bit long, I couldn’t put this down and loved the on and off relationship between Lottie and Boyd. 4 stars from me.

This was a little too scattered for my liking. The clues weren't well distributed although there were good plot points and twists. The ending was wrapped up in a bow. Imo, it needed more time to come to this conclusion. Also, I didn't connect much with Lottie. I didn't think she was a good detective and her relationship with her son was weird. I liked the overall novel though. 3.5 stars rounded down.

17 year old Lucy McAllister is found murdered after a secret party at her home. As she breaks the news Lottie realises that the partygoers are either too hungover to remember or keeping secrets, including her son, Sean. What they can all agree is that Lucy humiliated Hannah Byrne and she becomes the prime suspect when blood stained clothing is found in her room and she can’t remember what happened. Then another party attendee is found dead.

After a slow start I thoroughly enjoyed The Guilty Girl, which turns out to be a much more complicated investigation than anyone could imagine. Initially I found the novel not very interesting- it flits from character to character and I had no idea how they linked together or how they would be involved in the narrative. I guess I’m just impatient as I like to know something immediately. Once Lottie starts her investigation it gets interesting, then compulsive.

This is one of those novels where it starts as one thing, a rage murder, and broadens into something darker and deeper. The murder is always Lottie’s priority but she can’t help uncovering more crimes along the way. I think what’s interesting is that the “secondary” crimes involve so many unexpected people. I’m not sure I get all their motives but it certainly adds mystery and uncertainty, not to mention layers to the read. It is an accomplished and absorbing piece of story building.

As ever Lottie is juggling family troubles and a demanding investigation. Her work and life partner, Boyd, is in Spain so unable to ground her and make sense of the mess she surrounds herself with. She does her best, but logic and clear, linear thinking are not her forte, she prefers instinct. This is not a criticism as it makes her an excellent protagonist with whom we can all identify. She brings humanity to a dark subject.

The Guilty Girl is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

The Guilty Girl did it for me. A book I can't stop thinking about. At first, I was wary about the length but thank God, I gave it a chance. You will love this book.

Another amazing 5 star book in the Lottie Parker series. I have read and enjoyed every one and this was no exception. Fast paced and unpredictable as is the norm with this author, I was gripped from the first to the last page. I love the dysfunctional family of Lotties and her team. I would highly recommend this book and series and author, I can’t wait for the next instalment.

I love this series. This can be read as a standalone. In this one, Detective Lottie Parker is investigating the death of a teenager at a house party gone wrong. Tons of suspects, including her own son! Then another teenager is murdered. The murdered and motive are shocking. A fast-paced, enjoyable mystery.

This is a crime drama. It is book number 11 in the Lottie Parker series. I’ve never read any of the prior books and really enjoyed this story. There is a lot of murders and a lot of elements to solving the crime. The pace is great, a real page turner. I could imagine this story making a great tv drama.
I’m wondering would I go back and read some of the prior books in the series. I do feel like there has been a lot happen to Lottie, that is referred to in the book. I assume these form the story arc for earlier books. Not sure I will as I’ve just tuned in to her world today. But I’d definitely be interested in future books.

You are immediately drawn into the story; - the storyline shifts between several main characters - , giving away only tiny bits of information, so that it’ll keep you guessing until the very last page. And when the truth came out, it broke my heart into a thousand pieces. The italicized thoughts of the ‘magpie’ gave me goosebumps, and added a sinister feel to the whole story.
Gibney has written another sublieme crime thriller, and the good news is: she is currently writing the # 12 in the series, so that I shouldn’t have to wait too long to wait and see what Lottie is up to next!!

Sublime crime thriller, gripping until the last page. Highly recommended and a plus 5 star for me. Cannot wait for # 12!!

I am a fan of this series and always waiting for the next instalment. This one doesn't disappoint. The story keeps you hooked until the very end and it's a pleasure to see the familiar characters with their quirks and faults. The mystery at the heart of the story is a bit distressing because it involves children and teenagers, but it's nevertheless very real. A great read and escape for fans of the series or anyone who likes good crime novels.

One of the best books I have read this year and I read a lot of books. Dark,intense and definitely not what I was expecting. The Guilty Girl had me sat on the edge of my seat, this book is definitely my type of book. My advice to readers is switch off your phone, order a takeaway and tuck into this fantastic five star read from one of my favourite authors.

I have read every book in this series and loved them all, until the previous one (book 10) which I disliked because it focused so much on Lottie and Boyd and yet again their relationship was suffering another set back. I was fed up with it and thought I was done with the series.
But I am so glad to say that I read this book and loved it and cannot wait until the next in the series. From the start it focused on the plot, a hodgepodge of teenagers involved in murder and drugs and a whole lot more. A young girl Lucy is murdered after her house party and it seems likely who is responsible for her death, but DI Lottie Parker isn't so sure and to be honest I really didn't want it to be her either. Out of all the vain young girls, she was the most down to earth and nice. Clearly she is being set up or perhaps that was just my hope.
What follows is a lot of twists and turns and drama, there is actually loads going on and many people involved. At times I did think there were perhaps too many characters, it was a bit confusing trying to remember who everyone was and their connection.

It was definitely suspenseful and when more people are murdered, in horrific and devastating ways, it just adds to the heightened anticipation. I really was intrigued as to what was going on.
Adding in Lottie family drama, which I do enjoy, her home life is always chaotic and Boyd was away in Malaga for the whole case. They spoke on the phone and things seem good, but it was nice not to have to deal with their fractured relationship and the chaos it brings.
I am glad to say that I really look forward to the next in the series.

Another brilliant book featuring Lottie and Mark. A great plot featuring murder and also an insight into the Dark Web which was new to me. I read in in two days. Can’t wait for the next one. Would love to see this series on tv.
