The second wife# NetGalley
This was definitely not my type of book. Although the synopsis read like it was appealing to me. But I was almost half way through and I was not enjoying it very much. It’s not the storyline although there are so many of much the same thing out there if anything too many of the same old same old. But it was the author's way of writing. It didn’t flow as well as most book. Each chapter felt abrupt. Also as if they were thinking as they are going along. Not like they had a story already planned. Very difficult to read to be honest subject matter. Very much as I have read so many similar it was not holding me. We are inudsted with so much of a muchness. Now that I found it boring.

Thank you to Netgalley, Inkubator Books and Miranda Rijks for my advanced readers copy! My thoughts and opinions are my own. My review is given voluntarily.
This was my first book by Miranda Rijks, and I can't wait to read more of her books! This one sucked me in almost immediately. At first, I was not in love with our protagonist, Tamsin, but the more I read, the more i fell in love with her. and started to feel for her. I hated Mia, until I didn't. When the story kept unraveling, I was more invested. I was in the dark until the last page. Just when I thought the final plot twist was revealed, I was shocked at yet another. I love her writing style and her world building.

I really enjoyed this book, going into it I just thought it was another normal thriller. Once I got about 50 pages in I realized this book was special. The writing style was great, it really kept you guessing and flowed so nicely it was one of those books you don’t feel like you’re reading because you get so swept up in the story.
At first I didn’t really like the characters, but the farther we went along the more invested and interested I got. The characters were well thought out, as was the story line. Once we got to the big reveal I really thought that would be it and had almost written off the rest of the book as boring, but boy was I wrong. The author kept us guessing until the last page! I was absolutely thrilled by that and was so pleased that I was completely fooled. The ending was a fantastic wrap to this story and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I really love Miranda's style of writing and this story was no different. The characters are believable, and Mia in particular was likeable and sympathetic, especially as the story unravels. Tamsin is an unlikely hero and I loved the change we saw in her.
The storyline is original and engaging without being overly complicated. Miranda manages to bring a number of unrelated threads together in a way that is neat but also surprising. For me, her books all fall on the strength of the twist, and again this one did not disappoint!

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I requested it because I like thrillers and I'm always interested in finding new ones.
I read this one just after reading another book with a similar story line of a second wife and the husband dying. I was afraid it would be too similar but thankfully it wasn't.
It was a good book but just fell a bit flat for me. I could never really get into the main characters. The one who was the most interesting was David which is sad because he's a really secondary character. It was an easy read but that's it

This is most definitely a thriller that proves 'Be careful what you wish for'!
This completely original story grabbed me from the very beginning, packed to the brim with betrayal, suspense, suspicion, paranoia and danger I couldn't put it down for a second.
Robin Featherstone, a rich renowned composer has recently married Tamsin, a much younger woman leaving a very unhappy and disgruntled ex wife Claudia and two extremely bratty grown up kids questioning her motive... gold digger or true love?
When Robin dies suddenly the (ex)families worst fears are confirmed. The will which was newly written only two days before his death is read... Tamsin is set to inherit everything with a share going to Assistant Mia, a woman he was very close to due to their mutual love of music but was that all?
I won't go into details as it will definitely ruin the plot *no spoilers* but it's full of everything you would want from this genre and more.
The only downside/negative for me.... the ending :( but I'll let you make your own mind up on that one!
A fast paced multi layered psychological thriller that kept me turning the pages at break neck speed.
Huge thanks to netgalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC.

When Tamsin marries the much older, wealthy composer, Robin Featherstone, Robin’s ex-wife and grown children obviously question her motives. Robin enjoyed the company of his maid (turn carer after a medical emergency) Mia who shared a common interest in music.
When Robin dies suddenly, his family fears that Tamsin is about to inherit everything. But when the will is read, its contents take everyone by surprise, sparking a feud as to who will inherit Robin’s estate.
It soon becomes apparent that the family will go to extreme lengths to stop Mia and Tamsin from inheriting any part of the fortune, leaving them fearing for their lives.
Interesting characters and an intriguing plot that will have you racing through the pages.
Thank you to Netgalley and Inkubator books for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ugh. Please give me the whole day I spent slouching and trying to get through this book. Sorry but I did not like this one bit! And the main character? So annoying!
Thanks to Netgalley! Hoping for a better read next time!

This book was super twisty and I will definitely seek out more books from this author!! I loved the characters and I could not put this book down!!

Wow that was a brilliant story. I just couldn't put it down. I had to read it all in one sitting it was that good. Right from the start I was hooked as there was so much mystery to the story and plenty to keep my mind busy trying to work out the ending. The story was exceptionally well wrote and the author created such a wonderful sense of atmosphere and tension. It had plenty of twists and turns that you won't see coming. The author is definitely in my top 10 thriller writers. The story line was full of those little details making you constantly wonder what will happen next you will suspect every one in this book. I loved how the book was wrote from two point of view the wife and the cleaner and they both suspect each other. It's definitely a real roller coaster ride that you won't want to get off. This book had me frantically turning the pages as I just had to know how it was going to end. I'm positive you will love the double twist at the end its fantastic. But I won't be giving anything away. The fast pace of this book was fantastic. I really can't recommend reading this book enough if you love thrillers then this book is a must read. The best part of this story was how unique the characters were and each one was holding a deep dark secret . Which of these will shock you.
Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating such an amazing story that keeps you thinking from beginning to end. I will definitely be looking out for more books by this fantastic author.

Wow wow wow. A very twisty and gripping book, which I flew through. It was totally unpredictable, and had me on the edge of my seat. A must read.

Tamsin marries an older man named Robin, who is a renowned composer. She loves him and knows he loves her. However, his ex wife and children see her a gold digger, and when he dies suddenly Tamsin appears to inherit everything. When his will is read the contents of it shock everyone involved. This book was full of twists with an ending I did not see coming. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

Dark thriller that had you hooked from the off. The book was very well written. Great plot. Very exciting. Fast paced to get your heart racing. Loved this book

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I was kept guessing throughout, and really didn't see the ending coming. Recommended for anyone who loves a good and thrilling read.

Robin a prominent, wealthy, world renowned composer dies. Was it an accident or was he murdered? Was it his much younger new bride wanting his money? Was it his bratty, narcissistic children who only care about their father’s wealth and want his estate? Or perhaps it was his disgruntled ex-wife? Or could it be Mia, Robin’s cleaner and musical assistant? I tell you this book had my mind spinning. There were so many plausible and potential characters that could be responsible for Robins death. Just when I thought I had it figured out, my theory was disproved. I 100% did not predict the outcome of The Second Wife. I was blindsided by not one but two shocking twists.
I am a huge fan of Miranda Rijks. Her books are so fast paced and engaging it makes it extremely difficult to put them down 😅. Miranda Rijks writes with such intensity that I tend to get lost in whatever book of hers I am reading.
The Second Wife was an excellent psychological thriller that had my brain in over drive from start to finish. Thank you Inkubator Books, Miranda Rijks and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had a good story to it. I liked the variety of characters in it. I have read other books by this author and liked them too.

This is my second book by this author and it won't be the last! The story grabbed my attention from page one and took me along for a thrilling ride. The characters were well written and the pacing of the story is perfect!
This book is a quick and easy read that will keep you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book - well done!

I’m a big fan of Miranda’s books and this one was a fast paced, character driven thriller that pulled me in instantly. Betrayal and paranoia drive the plot as secrets are revealed and lives are shattered. Unanswered questions lead to suspicion with danger lurking around every corner. This thriller proves the point of being careful what you wish for. Getting what you want may not always be best as shown in this read. I feel like I enjoy all her books there isn’t one that has dissatisfied me!

Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
