This book was available to read on #NetGalley. Thank you for letting me read it!

Book number 100 for me this year. A good one, that is. The story was easy to get into and I found myself flying through the book. Oh how many times did I think I knew who did it… still I was wrong.
So the story is about the mysterious death of Robin Featherstone, married to his much younger second wife Tamsin, father of David and Brooke, ex husband to Claudia. The big question is, where does it leave Mia, hired to clean.

I found Robin a weird character. The only one I really liked was Mia. I will definitely read more by #MirandaRijks., definitely a recommendation:)

I’ve read a fair few books by Miranda Rijks and this one is by far my favourite. It’s fast paced, twisty, exciting and has just about everything you could ask for packed into it.

Tamsin is happily married to Robin however it is frowned upon by many as Tamsin is 25 years younger than Robin and everyone believes that she is after his money and nothing more; however it is clear that both Tamsin and Robin really do love each other.

When tragedy strikes and Robin has a stroke Tamsin’s marriage soon changes and challenges arise for her and Robin. They both find it hard to come to terms with what has happened and a few weeks later Tamsin finds Robin tragically dead.

When Robins will is released everyone including Tamsin, Robins first wife and 2 grown up children are shocked to discover everything has been left to Mia an old housemaid. As Tamsin contests the will strange things start to happen and soon Tamsin and Mia both find they cannot trust anyone around them and everyone gets their backs up against one another.

This book was fast paced, incredibly addictive and had a new twist in just about every chapter. It was told from both Mia and Tamsin’s point of view and it came clear throughout the book that Mia in particular had a secret which she wanted to stay hidden.

Thank you to NetGalley the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.

She married for love. But is she ready to die for it?
Tamsin has recently married renowned composer Robin Featherstone. Robin is much older, but Tamsin doesn’t care - she’s in love.
And she knows Robin loves her too, even if he is very close to another young woman – his assistant, Mia.
But Robin’s ex-wife and grown children aren’t happy – they’re sure Tamsin is a gold-digger and Mia is an opportunist.
Then, when Robin dies suddenly, the family’s worst fears are realised - Tamsin stands to inherit everything. But when the will is read, its contents are beyond shocking.
As Mia and Tamsin are pitted against each other, only one thing is clear. The family will go to any lengths to stop either of them inheriting even a part of Robin’s estate.
Isolated in the family mansion, fearing for their lives and distrustful of each other, Tamsin and Mia are determined to stand their ground. But then a dark family secret is revealed which may engulf them all…

This is a really thrilling read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own hone\st voluntary review.

Mia has applied to be a house cleaner for Robin Featherstone, who is a renowned composer. Mia plays the violin and always loves to hear the music coming from Robin’s studio. Robin learns about Mia’s talent as a violinist and enjoys talking with her about music.

Robin is divorced from his first wife, Claudia, and has just married Tamsin. She is young and quite happy with her new-found wealth. She truly loves Robin but he is always busy with his work.

Claudia is jealous of Tamsin thinking she is only after his money. Robin has a stroke and after recovering from it, he dies from a fall down the stairs. Everyone is sure that Tamsin will inherit all of his estate. But they are all shocked when Robin’s will is read and they learn they have been left nothing. Mia is the sole beneficiary of Robin’s will.

The family members are all angry and decide to contest the will. They are furious at Mia and when things happen that put her life at risk, she is sure that someone will do anything to keep her from inheriting the estate.

This story builds well and the characters are all well-created. I thought I had figured out the culprit until just at the end when I found I was completely wrong. A good story that I think readers will certainly enjoy.

I would love to be inside Miranda Rijks' head! I have read all her books and don't know where she gets the ideas for her wicked plots, but I love them!

Robin has married a younger woman Tamsin, his second wife, who has surprisingly married him for love, not money. Of course, that's not what his ex and two children think. Especially when he dies unexpectedly and mysteriously.

Tamsin continuously declares that she did not marry for money. But that is brought into question when the will is read, and she has to defend herself against the family, the housekeeper, and the housekeeper's assistant, a musician herself, who helped Robin with his musical notations.

I suspected everyone but I was wrong and totally off the mark as to motive, which to me is the sign of a good thriller. I would skip the prologue, since that definitely threw me off, but the twists and turns will keep you guessing. I read this book in a day!

Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advance reader's copy.

4.5/5 STARS

This book had its ups and downs. I was bored the first 30%, then it picked up, there was another lull in the middle, and then full showed ahead. And the ending was totally with peering through the lulls.

This is probably the best thriller I’ve read in a while. I was extremely wrong about the “who done it” the entire time. But I did guess one thing correctly and was rather proud of myself.

The twists were so good and the story really kept you guessing. And the ending wrapped everything up in a pretty little bow. Every last thing seemed to be solved and I didn’t expect almost any of it.

I just don’t know how to form words about how good this book was. My jaw dropped.

Please pick up this book if you like thrillers. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Final rating: 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. I enjoyed this cozy thriller for the most part. The twists and turns of who is at fault and who you are lead to think may be involved kept me engaged and interested until the final reveal. I also liked the writing style and the pacing from this author. For me, the ending buttoned up a bit too quickly and perfectly and would have liked a little bit more lead up for it, but I did like the final twist and reasoning for why things went the way they did. I will be looking into the author's other works.

A famous classical musician dies in his home. His will turns his family upside down. I liked the pace and tone of this book. The story flowed well with an explosive ending that I did not see coming! The book is a dual POV, which I love because it show me more of the story. Overall it is a very solid book with and ending!

This is the first book that I've read by the author and it won't be my last. The characters all had a part to play in this family drama that's filled with twists. I thought early on I knew who the culprit was, but I was wrong. The pace is steady. Mia was the only character I really liked, some of the others grew on me as the story progressed. But Mia has a past she hopes no one will find out about. The ending was a bit of a surprise.

I would like to thank #NetGallay #InkubatorBooks and the author #MirandaRijks for my ARC of #TheSecondWife in exchange for an honest review.

Robin, a famous musician dies and leaves all his wealth to Mia, a budding musician, who was a cleaner at his mansion. This sets forth a chain of events involving his first wife and their 2 children, Tamsin, the second wife, and the housekeeper and her family.
Everyone is suspicious of Mia ever since an incident in her past comes to light. As the story unfolds, the past comes visiting.

Quick paced thriller. Thank you Netgalley and Inkubator books for the ARC

I’ve read a lot of books by this author and I haven’t liked most of them. Not sure why I keep reading them then. This story seemed forced, in the ending anyway. Not even sure why I requested this.

Thank you Miranda Rijks, Inkubator Books and Netgalley for this ARC.

This was my first Miranda Rick's book and belive me it will not be my last!

A domestic thriller about the greed of a family with twists at every corner. Robins death leaves his family wondering why he left his estate to the cleaner Mia, and not his new gold digging wife Tamsin or two children. Tamsins jealousy of Mia is a major trend through the book, as was music, at times I found too heavy. It's a very wordy and descriptive book which could get slightly tedious in places.

You think you have it all figured out then Rijks hits you with another twist out of nowhere. It can be slow in parts but the twists make up for it.

I would pick up another Rijks but only when I'm in the mood.

Mia, a violinist who spent four years in jail for a crime she did not commit now works as a cleaner for an established composer, Robin Featherstone. Tamsin, Robin's wife has concerns about his relationship with Mia and subsequently fires her.

Mia receives a call shortly thereafter from Robin's solicitor informing her that Robin has passed away and leaves her as his sole heir.
Robins family are understandably rather upset by this development and are filled with rage. Will their greed result in a murder?

I really enjoyed reading this book; the characters are real and engaging, This is a new author for me, I will however, be adding her previous books to my tbr pile.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for this ARC.

📚 Book Review 📚 The second Wife By Miranda Rijks. Publication Date - 15th May 2022

Robin is a wealthy composer. He has a new young wife Tamsin, Claudia is his ex wife and Tamsin and David and Tamsin are his children to his first wife.

When Robins will is read out, it changes everything!

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read a few of Miranda’s books before.
Good storyline, that kept me gripped. The blended family dynamics could be easily understood in the day and age.
Another fab book Miranda.

Oh my god, where do I start with this book?! It had me hooked from the start! Had me constantly siding with one character, then had me questioning it and siding with the other characters. 70% into it I just didn't know who to believe and I just love it when books do this to me. This is an author I will definitely be reading more from and recommending to other people.

Thank you Netgalley UK for letting me read an advanced copy of this book.
