The Wrong Girl begins with Alex being unable to sleep, but when he does he suffers nightmares and calling out Sheryl. Unable to function he decides he needs to return to his hometown to find out the truth, but will he be in more danger by what he discovers.
The books prologue starts out well, and then the rest drags a bit. This book was hard for me to get into. Too much slang made it difficult to follow.

This book leaps from events in Summer 1988 to present day. Alex is having nightmares from that time, so organises a reunion.
The nightmares are about a girl called Sheryl, and we don't know what happened to her.
The group of boys in 1988 did violent dares and came from aggressive backgrounds.
It involves blood and gore and acts of revenge, until we finally discover what happened to Cheryl.
Readers of gritty, urban horror would enjoy this.

How well do you know your husband?
Alex and Natalie seem to have the perfect life.
But Alex is haunted by terrible events from his childhood. He thought he’d escaped his past, but lately it’s been surfacing in the terrifying nightmares that plague his sleep.
As Alex’s behavior becomes increasingly strange, Natalie fears the worst. Has he been keeping things from her? And who is the mysterious Sheryl he calls out to in his dreams? She is determined to save their marriage by digging up the truth no matter what it costs.
Natalie follows Alex when he returns to his hometown to face the demons he thought he left deep in the forest. But the trip takes a deadly turn when shocking secrets from the past are revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was an excellent page turner that I couldn’t put down.

I had a difficult time attempting to read this book. The prologue was intriguing, however, the opening chapters were a bit slow. This book ended up being a #DNF for me. I cannot say that I will recommend this book.

I'm still a bit mixed about this one. I loved the premise but I found it hard to get into and a bit slow to actually get going. I prefer a bit more pace I guess but if you like the slow Hurn then this is worth a read. It does build the tension and the suspense but I can't say it was one of my favourites

4.5⭐️
This is a superb read!
Kirby impresses with this read which was originally published as ‘The Tests’ in 2021.
The first half was a slow burner, however, the pace fastened in the second half and left me on the edge of my seat. There were so many twists and turns and I couldn’t predict what would happen next. This was a superb read and I enjoyed reading something set fairly locally to me.
I recommend this pageturner which is being re-published by Inkubator Books on the 18th May!
Many thanks to Robert W. Kirby, Inkubator Books and NetGalley for this early read of the new publication.

I enjoyed this book, it was well written with a good storyline and well developed characters that were relatable. The pacing started off slow but increased as the tension in the plot increased. Twisty and unpredictable.

The Wrong Girl by Robert W. Kirby was a decent story. However, it took a bit to get into, and I didn't really connect with any of the characters. I struggled to get through the book and finish. I may check out more from this author at a later time.

This book was good at the start and fell flat then and never really picked up again for me but I completed it and it was a good enough read ..

What an incredible book from the start to the explosive finish, could not put this book down,
The main character is Alex who is struggling with his horrible past he has terrifying nightmares and his wife is concerned as he keeps calling out a girls name,
The reader is taken back to 1988 where as a young lad Alex is trying to fit in with a group, this group has set a horrible initiation process to join the group which Alex has to complete, In regards to these horrendous tests things ultimately go wrong,
The ending was a complete surprise lots of twists and turns but easy to read and follow will certainly read more of this authors books

I struggled a lot with this book. The opening caught my attention. The rest was very hard to care about. I just think it could have been stronger with some editing, but it wasn’t a book I was eager to pick up. I struggled to finish this book in a day because I wanted to see if it improved. For me, it did not. I think this would be suited for thriller readers who like something slower but still has some shocking twists. The ending didn’t make sense to me, and I grew frustrated by the end.
Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the digital review copy.
