An interesting book. It really is more of a handbook on sustainability rather than a cookbook. Sections cover topics on food choices, kitchen setup, and cleaning. There are lots of definitions covered and good background info for someone just getting started. The recipes seemed fairly straightforward. There were also some how-to's for creating items (a reusable bag, a whittled spoon). The authors are in the UK.

Very comprehensive and good guide regarding everyday sustainable living at home. You get the basics for how to choose the best options in buying, storing, and cooking food, as well as growing greens and cleaning the kitchen. It is easy to read and has a good layout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in this subject, but has not yet gotten into this subject, or have already started creating a more sustainable kitchen, but might need some help and encouragement on the way.

Let me start by saying this is a wonderful book about sustainability. I took a lot of tips from this book. I just don’t think I’ll ever go full foraging, whittling my utensils sustainable person. With that said, they do make it really accessible. Also the recipes are easy.

This is an interesting book that was around 3.5 stars for me.

The book talks about how the authors define sustainability and how to be more sustainable through shopping, cooking, and living. The book has interesting tips like making green-friendly cleaners and fun projects like repurposing a dish rag. There are also recipes included in the book, but not as many as I expected. The recipes focus on reducing food waste and include unique ingredients, like how to use more of an orange to make cake. There are some nice pictures throughout the book.

Overall an interesting find!

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC! I loved how this book took the reader through being sustainable from all aspects, and the emphasis on second hand first, buying what you can if you can afford the nicer/better quality when second hand doesn't work is was really nice. I liked the layout of the books, the recipes were nice, and the DIY additions were a nice touch.

The beautifully simplistic book, 'Sustainable Kitchen' by the couple Sabhbh Moore and Abi Aspen Glencross is wonderful in that it speaks to the most basic essential need we have to feed ourselves and possibly those we love and what better place to start but with food and eating. When we start with our kitchen in sustainability we are getting to the heart. We make food choices every day, how we buy it, how we store it, how we cook it, how we serve it, and how wrap up leftover food. But what if we understood as clearly as we make food choices every day, that everything food touches makes an impact on our environment. Food is a powerful purchase. It makes a big statement and in the simplicity of this book it goes to that basic but offers ideas, projects and a great foundation of why our thought process regarding those daily choices matter.

I appreciated the information that they provided and how from beginning to end they wrote about details but not to the point of being overwhelming and offered resources at the end of the book to dive into a specific topic regarding food at the readers' leisure and interest. There are recipes but one of the favorite things about the book was glass. Many throw glass jars away not really fully grasping all that went into that glass and for me cherishing that first of all it's stored in glass, not plastic, Yea! There are spices moving into plastic containers instead of glass jars. I keep every glass jar for leftovers, or seeds, whatever I can use it for. I just how that we can all understand every purchase we make we tell a story, give a statement, and yes it can be overwhelming but if we do simple practices collectively then we can make an impact.

I appreciated and enjoyed this book that speaks to me body and soul.
