This was fun and I would be intrigued to read more and see where the story goes next.

The story follows a school on another planet with robot teachers (only female students) where the punishment
is clearing up trash. There seems to be a focus on becoming better on this new planet yet clearly nothing has changed as the students punishment is trash picking. We see the two rival groups end up coming together with a
similar goal but get left on a cliff hanger as we are left to find out if they will succeed or if they will be caught?

This book was so much fun! It was the perfect introduction to a new series. I cannot wait to read the next volume!

These characters are so easy to fall in love with. There were so many moments they shared that were used purely to show the reader the relationships between them, rather than as plot devices, and I really enjoyed that aspect. Getting to know these characters before the plot picked up too much has only made me root for them even harder! They are all fully realised with interesting backstories and endearing personality traits.

The plot itself was super interesting too! I love the concept of a boarding school in space in this dystopian setting, even if it is *slightly* terrifying. And the ending made me gasp! I am so looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Everything about this art style has stolen my heart! The outfits and hairstyles, the endless details in every single room with the objects on display and the posters and art! I am in love with it all! It’s truly captivating and made the reading experience even more enjoyable!

Also this book is SO queer and diverse and I am here for it! The representation, even in subtle ways, was perfection.

I am so thankful to Oni Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an arc of this book! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next volume!

The first volume of Space Trash is a really cool introduction to this world. The artwork is vibrant and bright, while also being grungy and edgy. There are so many unique details to take in - everything from graffiti on the walls to nostalgic posters and book titles in the background to water damage running across ceiling tiles. It's all very immersive and adds so much quality to this visual experience.

I also really like how the characters are depicted. Every person I saw on the page looked different from every other and I appreciate that the author took the time to add so much individuality and personality to every single character, even the ones drifting in the background whose names we will never know.

The story itself starts off pretty slowly, but I didn't mind because I was so invested in getting to know these characters. The trio brings a lot to the table and I constantly found myself wanting to know more about these feisty, queer teens brought together by chance from various planets. Woodall teases some deep lore about their backgrounds and I'm very eager to hear more in future installments. The final few pages or so drop a huge tease about where the storyline is headed and I will definitely be picking up volume two to see what happens next.

Special thanks to Oni Press for handing out ARCs at the 2022 ALA Conference!

This was very interesting, but it was all over the place at times. I didnt understand what was going on at all times but hopefully future volumes would be a bot clearer. I really loved the characters and all the queer rep, though.

What is school detention like in a dilapidated moon colony boarding school? Members of the BFF clique The Planet Stompers Yuki, Una, and Stab sure find out and become all too familiar with suiting up to pick up trash on the school roof. Every day feels the same with going to class, standing their ground with more popular rival cliques, pushing the boundaries of the Student Council, and of course trash duty detention. Life does get a bit more interesting following a more intense run in with a rival group who raided their lockers. The trio stumbles upon a stellar discovery with tons of secrets that is bound to lead to exciting follow up volumes to this new graphic novel series full of punk rock and queer vibes from the creative mind of Jenn Woodall. The illustrative style is eye-catching and make sure to pay attention to all the details in the background of the story.

This was a fun read, and I will be following the series with interest. I’m always excited about sci-fi graphic novels!

This feels like half of what should be here. And that makes sense, it's only 96 pages. A standard comic book is 32 pages, so this looks like a 3-issue run, whereas most graphic novel collections are going to be 5-6 issues (160-192 pages). And the price is pretty steep, for just 96 pages!

This is setup. We're updated on what's happened with the world in the last hundred years: Earth is abandoned, and pretty much everyone still alive is on the moon or other off-planet colonies. There's little whispers that Earth ISN'T abandoned (and I'd bet, in any potential volume 2, we find that it's just the ultra-rich left there), but the closest we get to even CONSIDERING finding out is seeing a derelict rocket ship that MIGHT get used in a volume 2.

This just came out with too little substance to DO anything. It needs to be twice as big, and actually go somewhere. The art is fine, and the feel of the characters is okay, so I think Woodall could make something cool. But she wasn't even given a chance to get up to speed.

This was certainly interesting, but it was kind of all over the place and I didn't always understand what was going on. I did love all the queer rep, though. Definitely need more of that in these kinds of stories!

Unfortunately I could read this Book because I could open the download link on any of my devices. So this review isn´t based on anything sadly.

This was a very quick and easy read. The art was super cute and detailed. I love that everyone was alternative in some ways. All the punk outfits, colored hair and piercings were a great addition.

However, the story fell flat. I know it's a graphic novel/comic book so there usually isn't much dialogue, but nothing really happened to make me want to continue the series.

I love everything set in space, this was a definite yes for me. It was a little slow though, eith not much happening, BUT it’s the first volume, so it’s totally understandable. I loved the setting and I am definitely getting this and any future volumes ❤️

A vibrant, sapphic sci-fi graphic novel with diverse characters? Say no more, I’m in! This was a fun, quick read with such beautifully detailed illustrations. The plot that Jen Woodall starts to set up toward the end of this volume has me looking forward to the next instalment in the series to see where these characters just might end up. I also loved realizing that this was Canadian fiction and seeing some nods to Canadian pop culture (like the inclusion of PUP on the mixtape track listing at the end).

Thank you NetGalley and Oni Press with providing me with an eARC!

I enjoyed the heck out of this series opener and am desperate to know what happens next! Gay dirtbag teens in space school. A rollicking good time with excellent art.

I love this intro to the Space Trash world.
With it being the first instalment it did feel like I was waiting for more to happen, but I’ll happily read the rest of the series
The art style is so pleasing and colourful, the characters are quite well realised and the story concept is fun and interesting

I received an advanced copy of Space Trash Vol. 1 through Netgalley so I could share my review with you!

Space Trash Vol. 1 was a great start to a series I will be following until the very last issue! I loved the characters, especially Una, and the ways that they felt so authentically like teenagers, even in this post-apocalyptic space setting. From the fashion choices to the characters’ senses of humor, this book captured the universality of being a teen, no matter which planet you might be on.

The art was punchy and had a level of gritty brightness that suited the characters and their world so well. I loved the saturated colors chosen for the art, which felt more authentically “futuristic” than any hyper-clean chrome world ever could. My only wish would have been that the story be a bit longer, but I have a feeling that will just make volume 2 all the sweeter when it comes out!

Also, let me just say that I would KILL for a volume of Dodgeball Passions, the trashy sapphic sports comic the characters read in Space Trash. Frankly, what I would love most to see in the world of graphic novels is definitely a sapphic dodgeball comic with the tagline “Their love is… out of bounds”.

My Recommendation-
If you love The Guardians of The Galaxy or The Disasters, you need to grab the first volume of Space Trash right away! You won’t want to miss out on these sapphic disaster teens in space!

3.5 stars

I really liked the art style, but I felt that this volume needed to be longer to keep my attention. We were introduced to the characters and how they live our away from Earth. But I didn’t feel that there was enough plot yet.

I’m not sure if I’ll be continuing.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I unfortunately missed downloading this one and reviewing it before it came out. However I was super excited to read this so I picked up my own copy.

I LOVED this. The art was beautiful, the characters were stunning and the plot was fantastic. I can not wait for the next volume where we can hopefully delve deeper into the characters backstories.

I got this book as an eARC on netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good setup for a potentially great story. I look forwards to seeing where it goes in the next volume. The art style is stunning and I love the effects given to the space school (vandalism and griminess as might be expected from the title) and each individual character.

In terms of plot, not a massive amount has happened yet, but I think its a good setup. We find quite a few things out that we definitely need expanding on, so I look forwards to seeing what happens/has happened!.

thank you NetGalley for providing me with the e-arc of this book (:

This was a pretty quick read! Its very clear that it was the first book in a series due to most of the book being worldbuilding, but I still enjoyed it!

the art style was beautiful, I will def be reading the next ones (:

This was a quick, fun read! This was obviously just setting everything up so not a whole lot happened in terms of plot. Towards the end, it was starting to get good but, of course, that was the end lol. But the art was beautiful and the characters were mostly interesting. I loved how colorful it was. I wish it would’ve been a little longer, but overall this was a fun intro !
