A killer is on the loose but there doesn't seem to be any links between the victims.
Detective Inspector Helen Grace is in charge but her personal life is leaving her vulnerable.
She starts to unravel the murders and the reasons behind them.
A real page turner to the last twist!!

Another brilliant instalment in the DI Helen Grace series! The book is fast paced from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. There was lots of twists throughout, but of course DI Helen Grace always knew what was up! A brilliant read, and that cliff hanger! Can’t wait for the next book!

Helen Grace is an excellent detective and all round brilliantly written character and this case does not disappoint.
Being stalked herself by a psychopath out for revenge she is investigating a series of murders where the killer seems to stalk his victims through the city.
In trouble with her boss and ultimately put on leave she ultimately triumphs in the case but not without plenty of heart-stopping scenes along the way.

Wow! I didn't think this series could get any better, but it has. I may be biased as the location of it is relatively local, so I could imagine the settings, but in my opinion this is a great book. The characters are interesting and the storyline definitely didn't drag at any time. I was on the edge of my seat and determined to finish it before I could even think about going to bed!

A serial killer stalks the city, playing cat and mouse with the victims. Meanwhile, DI Helen Grace is shadowed by a psychopath looking revenge, as she tries to investigate the serial killer case. Helen soon finds that there may be a shocking home truth connecting the brutal crimes, more twisted than she could ever expect... Another thrilling entry to the series that keeps you turning the pages until the end. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

When this author has a new book out that features Helen Grace you know that you are in for a treat. Cat and Mouse is a rollercoaster of a read which had me reading late into the night. A really good thriller, fast paced, intense and utterly gripping. This author certainly knows how to tell a story and raise the readers heart rate. Loved it!!!!

Thank you to netgalley for the oppurtunity to read an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have read all of this series so of course i wanted to read this one. A few in the series havent been as good as the others, but i have kept on with reading them. This one was a good one. My only criticism of this book was one part of the storyline i felt wasnt needed. When I'd read it i couldn't see the relevance of it as it didnt seem to have any impact on the way the book ended. I shall continue to read anymore that come in the series, but i feel that the author may be struggling with tying up all the loose ends now. Brilliant series which i have enjoyed but not sure how much longer it will work

This was the first book of the series i read, i was able to follow most of the back stories but it also felt like there was too much going on, which made it all unbelievable, the main detective was on the hunt for a serial killer being hunted by a different killer, in trouble with her supervisors and ultimately on leave due to killing someone in self defense. This was just one of the storylines, also multiple stories of the families of victims of the serial killer and the personal life of another detective on the squad.

Superwoman Helen Grace is back, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

She continues to run recklessly at things with good intentions, and personally I'm all for that.
It gives the book good pace, and some tension.

There are moments I was properly heartwarming by the team. Not so Emilia, but that's the point.

Enjoyable.

Another great outing for DI Helen Grace. I really enjoy the way she solves the crimes that rage the city and how it feels she almost pledges to the victims to hunt out the killer .

Really enjoyed this one, My first book by this author and not the first in this series but a very good stand alone story anyway.
Liked the characters, good plot, twists I didn’t see coming and well written. If you like your police procedurals you should enjoy this one.

I found myself drawn straight into the action with this book and found it all the more fascinating as it is set, as are the whole series, somewhere that I know, Southampton!
As to this book being part of a series, I didn't find it spoiled anything my not having read the previous 10 as enough previous plot points were referred to BUT reading this book out of order has potentially spoiled the previous books for me as part of this storyline is a continuation of a previous one.
Towards the middle of the book I was starting to feel a bit bogged down by the misogynistic senior officer and the incredibly stereotypical characters of the reporter and one of the suspects. By the third quarter of the book it had changed track and sped up dramatically becoming a book I just didn't want to put down and had to finish!
All in all I found this to be a great read and even though I found some of the characters unpalatable I can see their point to the story that was being told. I really can see myself starting this series of books from the first one, yes I know where some storylines are heading but it was such an enjoyable read, I can put up with that!

A silent killer stalks Southampton - breaking into homes when people are alone and killing them in their most vulnerable moments, before taking their belongings and disappearing into the night.

DI Helen Grace is a strong character who seems to solve murders despite her superiors. With her personal demons, she soldiers on despite the doubts of those around her.

Another great book from Arlidge that leaves you wanting more!

Thank you to Netgalley and Orion Publishing for the chance to review this book

DI Helen Grace - the formidable, woman woman of Southampton PD is back!

I love MJ Arlidge’s series following DI Grace and her team and so when this book became available on NetGalley as an advance copy, I lept at the chance to read it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this edition to the DI Helen Grace series. However let it be said this book is not half as good as the first books from the series. The last two books have been a bit formulaic and predictable with the wrong ‘guy’ being caught mischief to the embarrassment of the force and other wrong doers being pulled in for crimes that are similar but not the right one. This was all a little annoying because they were obviously the wrong criminals. Added to that Helen and her team were very single minded in their investigation and interrogation of key evidence and survivors. Add to this Charlie’s totally irrational home life issues. It’s a shame really because the story is really very good and the twists are well concealed, the book would’ve still been brilliant without those mishaps.

Similar to the previous novel we have a very different Helen Grace to the one we first started out with. I feel her character could now do with some further development. Stripped of need to feel physical pain and the man who she sought out to ‘help’ her. Also, now that her sister and nephew are both out of the picture - I’m not sure who Helen is anymore. Interestingly Helen ponders this very question during ‘Cat and Mouse’, stripped of her badge, put on leave and unable to talk to Charlie… what are we now left with? Well, for a start she’s a one woman army who is not only super intelligent she is also completely formidable. She’s more comfortable on two wheels than four and lives alone with (apart from Charlie) no friends, hobbies or social life. Personally I’d love to know more about this new Helen and see her embrace life a bit more.

Overall and in despite to my previous comments this is a fantastic read! It’s fast paced, edgy, thrilling and hard to put down. For those of a weaker disposition this book is not for you! Arlidge does not hold back when it comes to broken bones and bloody matter. I almost had a heart attack in the beginning whilst reading the scene involving Bailey! That was very closely played and utterly heart stopping to read.

For those who haven’t read any DI Helen Grace, I would wholeheartedly recommend that you do. But I wouldn’t recommend this particular book for your first venture as a LOT of water has gone under the bridge and you’ll feel a bit lost picking up the story at this juncture.

Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
