This is the 4th book in the Connor Frasier Series.

When Jennifer is knocked over one night and killed they determined it to be a tragic road accident. That is however until Connor is asked to attend a meeting with Jennifer's father Duncan Mackenzie. He believes his daughter's death wasn't an accident at all, but a warning to him to kill Paulie King, his lieutenant who has disappeared. He tells Connor he has to do whatever it takes to find Paulie and the men that killed his daughter, no matter what the cost. As a gang war threatens to break out in central Scotland, Connor embarks on a journey that forces him to confront uncomfortable truths about his girlfriend and her family involvement. He knows he has to find Paulie, to find out the truth.

I enjoyed this one despite not having read any of the other books in the series. I may have felt more towards the characters had I read them and got a bit of history etc first.

Thank you for letting me pre-read this one NetGalley.

No quarter given had well crafted characters, an underlying sense of menace and an immersive narrative combine for a suspenseful, one sit read.

Having read the work of Neil Broadfoot in the past, I knew what to expect, or at least hoped for what would be an enjoyable read.
I shouldn’t have been concerned, as it was as expected, a fast moving story, strong characters and enough to make me look forward to a follow up.
An author to read.

"This is not murder. This is justice."

This is the latest in this series starring Connor Fraser and what a series it is!

No Quarter Given is a dark and gritty read that is not for the feint-hearted. It has some scenes that some may find distressing as they relate to child abuse so be warned, if this is a trigger for you, I would think before picking this up.

Having given that warning, this is intense, well written and fast paced with excellent characters but amongst the violence and tension, there is dark humour and moments of vulnerability for the main character.

This is an excellent addition to the series and thank you to Little, Brown Book Group via NetGalley for giving me the opportunity of reading and sharing my thoughts.

Fast paced, intense and full of atmosphere, I couldn't put it down. I was completely gripped right from the start, it was twisty and unpredictable. I really enjoyed it.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for a review copy of No Quarter Given, the fourth novel to feature security expert Connor Fraser, set in Stirlingshire.

Jen Mackenzie, Connor’s girlfriend, is severely injured in a hit and run. An accident he thinks until her father, Duncan, shows him a letter saying Jen will be killed unless he kills his friend and associate Paulie King, who has since disappeared. Duncan wants Connor to do whatever it takes to find Paulie and the person who harmed Jen.

I thoroughly enjoyed No Quarter Given, which is a high octane, adrenaline filled thriller. It will come as no surprise to series readers that there is a lot of violence and some gory murders, but this one also has some upsetting themes.

The plot never stops with Connor involved in several fights and making good progress in his investigation into what happened to Jen. He is not alone, however, in his investigation as what he’s looking into links to a murder investigation led by DCI Malcolm Ford. Their approaches are totally different with Connor taking out the opposition to further his enquiries, while Ford, who has also been known to disregard the rule book, takes a more historical route in looking for links. His method is more convoluted than Connor’s wham bam style, and can be difficult to follow, not in methodology but in how the characters all link together. Still, it’s a minor issue as the resolution is glorious and well worth any earlier misunderstanding. There are several bad guys getting their just deserts scenes, some really good twists that upend what the reader previously thought and a breaking scandal.

Connor is a bit of a madman in this novel, understandably after what happened to Jen, driven by revenge and a need to understand. There is little of the cool logic that normally drives him, but the upside of this for the reader is the frantic pace of the novel. It’s well done.

No Quarter Given is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Connor Fraser returns in another high action and fast paced book by Neil Broadfoot.

Whilst the pages in No Quarter Given kept turning there did, at times, seem to be too many characters and despite having read all the previous books in the series I did find it slightly difficult to keep track.

That minor point aside the book definitely delivers on its promise and I look forward to future instalments

The latest installment in the Connor Fraser series, set in Stirling, opens with a bang! The location is perfect and the pace never lets up in this intense and expertly crafted read. Throw in brilliant characterisation and a very unexpected ending, with violent and dark, short, snappy chapters and it is bound to be a success for the author. All I can say really is read it, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this 5* read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I enjoyed the writing, and pace of this book, and the never quite knowing what would happen next, or how any of the things tied together.
But having not read the previous three books ,there were too many characters to get up to speed with, that left me a bit confused.

It doesn't mention on the blurb that it's part of a series, but maybe I need to check these things out rather than just going on the blurb.

Neil Broadfoot's latest addition to his Scottish Stirling set series featuring Sentinel Security Consultant, ex-police officer, Connor Fraser, is a particularly harrowing and grisly affair. Fraser is outside girlfriend Jen MacKenzie gym when she is hit by a car that leaves her with life threatening injuries. So begins an investigation that is deeply personal for Connor as Jen's Haulier father, Duncan, with his dubious criminal connections, tells him that it was no accident, he had received a message that had told him that he needed to kill his lieutenant, Paul 'Paulie' King, and that this is not murder, but justice. Paulie has disappeared and in Edinburgh, a similar message is left in the blood of a murdered civil servant on the walls of a swimming pool in a government building, DS Susie Drummond finds herself in a high pressure investigation with intense media scrutiny that includes that of ambitious and determined Sky journalist and single mother, Donna Blake.

DCI Malcolm Ford, now has a remit that has him overseeing all major cases across Central Scotland, he, along with DS John Troughton, find themselves working together with Drummond, each piecing together different parts of a complex and intricate crime puzzle that takes in Ford's notoriously corrupt old boss, DCI Dennis Morgan, still lying in a coma after a year. Connor is part of this team, providing a below the radar contribution that throws a light on other aspects of this case, he is supported by his former Northern Ireland Police Service partner and friend, the loyal and committed Simon McCartney. As the gruesome body count continues to rise, coming under the microscope is ruthless crime boss, Dessie Banks, the 1997 Operation Calderwood looking into the abduction and killing of 3 young children, and the suicide of a man where allegations of child abuse were suppressed.

Connor finds himself having to take a much closer look into a subject he had avoided so far, his girlfriend Jen's family, her dangerous father, Duncan, and their long standing connections with Paulie and his surprising past. This is a darkly intense and fast paced crime read with short suspenseful chapters, that uncover nightmare shocks for everyone working this most troubling of cases. A great action packed, but brutal and violent additon to this terrific Scottish crime series. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.
