I was dreading the Cunningham family reunion even before the first murder. Before the storm stranded us at the mountain resort.

The thing is, us Cunninghams don't really get along.

We've only got one thing in common: we've all killed someone.

My brother, my step-sister, my wife, my father, my mother, my sister-in-law, my uncle, my step-father, my aunt. Even me.

When they find the first body in the snow, it's clear that only a Cunningham could have committed the crime - and it's up to me to prove it.

There are plenty of killers in my family. But only one murderer . . .

“Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone” by Benjamin Stevenson is going to be huge. With a title like that, it can’t fail. The first thing that struck me about the writing was that this is someone I could get along with. The sharp and satirical prose appealed to my sense of humour. It’s dark, it can be blunt but my god, it’s entertaining. So let’s talk about the plot. The Cunningham family - one of the most disjointed families you will ever come across and every one of the Cunninghams has killed someone. A family so wrought with secrets and bitterness, the reader has their work cut out for them in determining who the bad guy really is. Bodies fall like flies and it could be any one of the others.

This thriller is different from the rest and in such a good way. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator’s POV and I just loved the fact that all of these characters were so damn messed up - all with their crosses to bear and all of them with a motive to stick the knife in, quite literally. Messed up families are one of my guilty pleasure tropes which made this book especially enjoyable. I’d highly recommend this to everyone.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for an unbiased review.

What an enjoyable and original book. Very entertaining.
This is the story of a family reunion, that is very much a mystery story in the golden age style. The book is written in a self-referential way, as a chatty commentary to the reader. It is full of little teasers of action to come, a drip feeding of information that keeps the reader hooked. There are so many twists and surprises, there is never a dull moment. All in all this is a very cleverly constructed book that was great fun to read.

I absolutely love this from start to finish. Dark, atmospheric, and funny in places, it is probably one of the most original books I’ve read this year. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good murder mystery.

Sharp, Slick, Original….
Ah, where should one start with this. Sharp, funny, acidic, intriguing, wholly original and slickly done. All of that and way, way more. With more than a nod to the Golden Age of crime fiction and the making of a classic mystery combined with more than a touch of pulp, this unique novel is both wholly immersive and hugely enjoyable. A sprightly and entertaining tale of family shenanigans mostly gone pear shaped. Whodunnit? Just fabulous. Bravo!
