Olivia is involved in an accident and blacks out. When she is rescued her friends have disappeared. This sets the tone for a thrilling read, what has happened to the friends, what secrets to the town and this accident have to hide. This was an entertaining read, I will read more in future.

The Girls Who Disappeared by Claire Douglas is gripping and full of twists and turns. I didn’t really like the ending as I thought it was a bit unrealistic but an enjoyable read overall.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

I am a huge thriller critic and for that reason, I very rarely pick them up. That being said, this was definitely one of the better thrillers I've read. Strong characters, an interesting plot, some decent twists and turns, and some good side stories too.

I do really like Claire Douglas' writing. I like how not only does she focus on the mystery and the main plot itself, but I love how she adds in some side stories for the main characters too. Hearing about Jenna's divorce alongside her podcast mission was a great addition and it allows the reader to feel more connected to the character as a person. The writing style was simple, yet effective and made for a very easy and fast read.

I really liked both Jenna and Olivia so the dual POV between the two of them was great for me. Oh, I really liked Dale too. He was splendid. I wish we saw more of him.

This book stated off very strongly for me. Sadly, as I read on this feeling decreased. I felt it was very repetitive in places and the story could've easily been concluded much earlier than it was. I found the last third of the book kinda slow? The revelations at the end were great, don't get me wrong. They were sadly just a bit rushed for me and some of them could've been revealed slightly earlier on.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. It's not my first Claire Douglas book and certainly won't be my last.

Twelve years ago, Olivia was driving home to Stafferbury late at night with her three best friends when a figure in the road caused her to crash. When she wakes up, her friends have vanished. Now, journalist Jenna comes to the town where it happened, hoping to solve the mystery. But soon, she begins to wonder what is true. Does Olivia know more than she says? Or are the spooky rumours about Stafferbury true? And has she risked her own safety opening up old wounds.

An extremely enjoyable thriller. Gripping and atmospheric from start to finish. Claire Douglas has a real knack for the kind of twisty tales I love. Hopefully, she'll keep them coming.

The Girls Who Disappeared is Claire Douglas at her best. Full of suspense, drama, tense atmosphere that keeps you on the edge of the seat as it all unfolds, turning the pages till you reach the epic conclusion.

Wow. I could not put this book down. Totally gripped from page one.
Jenna is a journalist escaping her own martial problems when she arrives in the sleep village still grieving the missing teenage girls from 20 years earlier.
Olivia is the only missing girl still around to help Jenna but is under pressure from her own mum and boyfriend not too speak. So who actually knows what happened to them that night.
I did not predict any of the plot twists neither did I try as I enjoyed the book so much.
Another fab book from Claire. Keep them coming.

The Girls Who Disappeared by Claire Douglas was a great book, hooking me in from the first few pages and left me wanting to know what happened. Read in one sitting I could not put it down. I was left guessing until the last few pages with great twists and turns.

The premise is a decent one. Two decades earlier, Olivia Rutherford was involved in a serious car crash and when she regained consciousness the three friends she was driving home were missing. Olivia can remember nothing of that dark, wet night, and no-one knows what happened to the girls. Except Jenna Halliday, a journalist writing a piece about the 20th anniversary of their disappearance, is convinced someone in the closeknit – or rather closed – community of Stafferbury knows something about what happened to them and she is determined to persuade them to talk. The Girls Who Disappeared is well-written and well-plotted, and the suspense is well-maintained. In other words, it’s efficient and enjoyable enough, but not necessarily the most memorable thriller I’ve ever read.

Three girls went missing twenty years ago and this story revisits the scene. A twisty ,gripping thriller with a good main character.

The opening of this book is brilliant. It’s creepy, dark and intriguing and I even thought at one point that I was going to have to ban myself from reading it before bed! But as the storyline progresses I think the atmosphere becomes somewhat less charged and it turns more into an interesting mystery.
📚
Told from multiple perspectives, I really warmed to Jenna’s character as she tried to uncover the truth about what happened 20 years ago. I pretty much suspected everyone at one point or another, but one character in particular made my blood boil. Needless to say I did not guess the ending correctly!
📚
After loving The Couple at Number 9 I went into this one with very high hopes. And while I didn’t love it quite as much, it was still a really enjoyable read.

Thankyou to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. This book follows Jenna, a journalist who has taken on a podcast to dive into the 20 year old mystery of where 3 girls went missing after a car crash. The only remaining girl Olivia has never talked to anyone about what happened that night, but is it finally time. This book was okay and i did not expect any of the conclusions, i read it in one night as i wanted to know what happened and i liked the writing style but it was not fantastic.

Gripping, twisty and emotional page turner which kept me guessing to the end.

Twenty years ago three girls vanished and a fourth is left with serious injuries following a car accident whilst driving along the eerily named Devil's Corridor in a quiet Wiltshire village.

In all this time the girls have never been found, and with the twentieth anniversary approaching, Jenna is visiting the area to make a podcast and hopefully solve the mystery.

The aptly named Devil's Corridor is known for mysterious goings-on and is the site of a number of accidents over the years. Staying in the remote area is quite unnerving for Jenna, especially when faced with hostility from the locals. She seems to find an ally in the police officer leading the cold case investigation, but is he being completely honest about his connections with the case?

As the mystery unfolds, we follow dual timelines and multiple perspectives as we learn more about past events in Thailand and the risks desperate people take to keep their secrets hidden.

This was another great thriller from Clare Douglas, and a book I raced through.

Lots of interesting characters and suspects and plenty of twists and turns along the way. Obviously we are trying to work out what happened to the girls who disappeared all those years ago, but also untangle some of the aftermath for Olivia and her family too.

Had me guessing right to the end, another superb thriller from this Author.

I haven't read a thriller in a while as I was sucked down a fantasy/ya rabbit hole the last few months, and I enjoyed this more than I expected to.

The plot keeps you guessing all the way through, and there are a few chapters set in Thailand that you're not sure quite how they fit in - is it the past or the present? I did guess about halfway through what the link might be but it didn't detract from the rest of the mystery about the girls who disappeared as it was so full of twists no-one could have guessed the outcome! Really enjoyable and I'll be seeking out other works by this author.

In a rural Wilshire town lies The Devil's Corridor. A road which has witnessed eerie happenings from unexplained deaths to the sounds of a child crying at night. But nothing more puzzling than the Olivia Rutherford case. Four girls drove home but after their car crashed only Olivia was found.
Twenty years later, journalist Jenna Halliday is covering the case. But the locals aren't happy with this stranger's arrival. Least of all Olivia. Jenna soon starts receiving threatening notes and it is clear someone wants her out of this town before she suffers a dark fate . . .
This book had me gripped from the first chapter – straight into the mystery of what happened to the three friends after the car crash, set in a creepy and eerie wooded setting. There is a second story that runs throughout the book in parts – I was really confused to start with what the relevance was of the second story and it’s characters, and how it related to the main story. It felt like I was reading two separate books until it all slotted together with a bang! I thought that was actually really clever writing as it kept me wondering up until the moment it was revealed. The ending wasn’t what I expected, which is a pro and a con – I didn’t guess it, but it also felt like a bit of an anti-climax too. But overall this was a really good book that was easy and quick to read

Thank you to @michaeljbooks and @netgalley for the #gifted digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Twenty years ago three girls went missing after they had a car accident on the way home from a night out. Olivia, who remained trapped in the wreck was left mentally and physically scarred. The small town has become defined by the event, suspicions of foul and supernatural mysteries and has now captured the attention of journalist Jenna.

The setting of the book was fantastic. Dark and mysterious woods, chilling winding lanes, and a stone circle in a nearby field. It's easy to imagine the town and see why the residents believe something sinister had happened the night of girls accident and disappearance.

Throughout the book we also read snippets of a friends holiday in Thailand and whilst this seemed unconnected at first, it eventually added to the background of the characters and added an extra layer of intrigue.

An unputdownable read, it had me guessing through the entire book until the last moment. Fantastic pacing, perfect chapter lengths, mystery and suspense. What more could you ask for?
