Thanks net galley for letting me read this really great story .
The Resort at Fitzgeralds was everyone’s dream honeymoon, and Sam who had just married David thought she was living in a dream world.
There was lots of beautiful people there and Sam could not help looking at them and wishing she was as beautiful as the other women.
Everything was wonderful until she caught David looking at the waitress, she was younger and more beautiful with blonde hair and she saw David looking at her.
The resort was not as wonderful as it first seemed and everything started to fall apart especially Sam.
Loved this book was at a resort while reading it so could imagine everything happening.

I love Sue Watson's reads, always clever and full of twists, this was an unexpected hit for me, I wasn't sure what to expect as I had read some different reviews. Overall this book held my attention from start to finish and kept me wondering. Great binge worthy book Sue.

This latest book by Sue Watson is a weird one for me. There were elements of it I just didn't like but it still kept me reading enough that I had to see what happened. The basis for this latest book is three couples that are on holiday on a remote island and somehow get embroiled in a murder investigation. Daisy and Tom are one of those couples and they have seen their share of tragedy having lost a child. This holiday is an attempt to get back to a better place for both of them. Becky and Josh are another couple who have spent many years together and have children. At first their reason for this holiday come across as sinister but within the book the reasoning behind it become clear. Lastly there are Sam and David and these characters were the ones I just loathed. They had dated for a very short while and they are there on their honeymoon.

When a waitress from the resort is found dead the three couples become heavily involved in all trying to work out who the killer is, after all they could still be on the island. David is a character that I loathed from the very beginning and in truth Sam wasn't much better. The middle part of the book was probably the slowest but it was still interesting enough to keep me turning the pages. A reasonably solid read from an author that I absolutely love!

Sue Watson is back with another fantastic thriller!

I’m such a great fan of the locked room genre and this one didn’t disappoint.

On an exclusive island resort off the coast of Devon three couples are enjoying their time at at Fitzgerald’s; newlyweds Sam and David, Daisy and her toy boy husband Tom and ling standing couple Becky and Josh.

When two of the women find the barmaid Stella’s body they all become suspects, and when Daisy is attacked who is to blame?

This had me guessing to the very end and I was totally submerged in the character’s lives.

Each had their flaws as did the relationships and they were all as suspicious as each other.

I have been lucky enough to go to Burgh island (although I didn’t stay at the hotel) and I can see why this was the basis of this story. It was also a favourite destination of Agatha Christie and we all know about her writing!

I really couldn’t put this down and devoured it in a day!

I will be honest and not kid myself. I DNF this book at 55%. I tried so hard to push through this book, but I really cannot do it.

The synopsis is intriguing and right up my alley, but the execution was lacking. I like how the author set up the atmosphere and the whole resort in my head. I can imagine myself being in that resort. However, other than that, I am not sure this book is for me.

Here are the issues that I have encountered while reading this book:

Too many characters. I know most books have a lot of characters, but this one has too many, yet they all sounded the same. 3 couples, yet the tone of each one felt similar to one another. If not for the chapter indication as to who's who, I won't be able to tell that we shifted the POV.

The plot drags for a mystery/thriller novel. So... I managed to get to 55% and I never felt thrilled or curious about the whole plot. It focused more on the dramas between the couples and everything in between. But the actual mystery is nowhere in sight. Plus, I cannot really feel what's at stake because, once again, we are more focused on the drama.

Maybe it was just a me-thing and this book will be perfect for other readers. So give it a shot, and maybe this can be your perfect book.

Sue Watson has done it again. The Resort is a spine chilling, edge of your seat psychological thriller that I could not put down.

Three separate couples embark on a vacation to the luxurious Fitzgerald’s Hotel on an isolated island off the English coast. One couple, David and Sam are on their honeymoon, while Daisy and Josh are trying to salvage their marriage after a tragic event. Becky and Josh need a get away from their busy lives to spend much needed alone time as a couple. What should be a trip of a life time ends up with one of them dead and their lives changed forever.

I have always been a fan of Sue Watson I love her writing style and the fast pace of her stories. She’s an extraordinary writer who engages the reader from start to finish. My mind was working over time trying to figure out, “who did it” and “why”. I really enjoyed the almost instant connection and bond that developed between the three female characters. Virtual strangers, from different walks of life, but a tragic murder brought them together.

Thank you Bookouture, Sue Watson and NetGalley for my arc of The Resort in exchange for my honest review.

A beautiful, luxurious resort on a secluded island during a heat wave sounds like a dream getaway. Three couples, one murdered waitress and lots of secrets make for an entertaining and suspenseful read that I simply breezed through.

Sam and David are at the resort on their honeymoon after a brief whirlwind romance. Sam is smitten but David's wandering gaze and tendency to criticize might make this honeymoon a lot less romantic than Sam was hoping for. Both attractive and confident, Daisy and Tom look like the perfect couple of on the outside. Behind closed doors they are trying to salvage their marriage still reeling from a heartbreaking loss. Becky and Josh have spent most of their adult lives married to each other. Though their is an element of oddness to their dynamic as Josh seems to be making all of Becky's decisions for her. When a young and beautiful waitress is found murdered on the beach the 3 couples are unexpectedly brought together. Each one of them has a secret but did one of those secrets lead to murder?

I loved the locked room mystery vibe of this story. The most attractive setting can start feeling menacing in the hands of a skilful author. Characters weren't necessarily likeable but they were all definitely interesting and their personalities definitely propelled the story forward. Though I wish I got to read The Resort in a similar setting to the one in the book, just reading it made me feel like I was on vacation. It was "just one more chapter" kind of read for me.

A huge thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Yes!! I highly recommend this holiday from hell. It’s wickedly delicious and extremely entertaining. “ As the mercury rose, and storms rolled in, secrets were spilled and lives were lost in that beautiful white palace overlooking a turquoise sea.” Strangers are drawn together as danger and suspicion lurk around every corner. Who will be the next to die? Who is the wolf in sheep’s clothing in this risky game of cat and mouse? I couldn’t get enough of this twisted vacation where no one is safe and everyone could be guilty. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was not my favorite story. I didn't like any of the characters and honestly felt like it was hard to keep track of who was who. I normally don't have this problem. The story did twist and turn with an unexpected ending.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of The Resort by Sue Watson. This book focuses on three couples, all staying at an exclusive holiday resort. All have different reasons for being there, recovering from a tragedy and illness being two examples. I found some of the couples dynamics somewhat formulaic - the newly weds with insecurities, etc. I enjoyed the book overall, but did guess some of the twists and turns.

Sue Watson’s nail-biting new thriller The Resort will have readers thinking twice about booking a trip away this summer.

Three couples have come to an exclusive island resort in Devon where their every whim and desire will be catered for. At Fitzgerald’s, nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are keen to give their guests an experience they will never forget. Sam and David are on their honeymoon and although Sam should be on top of the world having married her handsome husband, she cannot help but feel out of her depth. David is suave and sophisticated whereas she feels so unworldly and uncultured. With the ghost of his former wife Marie hanging over them, Sam hopes that this honeymoon will bring the two of them closer. But little does she realise that at Fitzgerald’s, one should always expect the unexpected…

Daisy and Tom seemed to have the world at their feet. A power couple who seemed to have the Midas touch, when a heart-breaking tragedy had knocked them for six, Daisy and Tom had been left reeling. They’ve come to Fitzgerald’s hoping to find a way forward from their anguish, sorrow and loss. Will Daisy and Tom manage to forge forward into the future together? Or will Fitzgerald’s rip the fabric of their marriage apart…for good this time. Josh and Becky’s lives have also been touched by tragedy. Becky knows that she should by pleased by how much Josh cares for her. Yet, lately he seemed to have got far too controlling and she cannot shake off this horrible feeling that he is lying to her.

This is a make or break holiday for all three couples. However, the resort’s beautiful young waitress is found murdered and the police have come to Fitzgerald’s and start asking questions. As a maelstrom of secrets, lies and murder slowly unfurls at Fitzgerald’s, Sam, Becky and Daisy begin to wonder whether they might be married to a murderer who will stop at nothing to keep his deadly secret.

A chilling, terrifying and addictive thriller that will keep readers guessing, Sue Watson’s The Resort is a twisted, shocking and compulsively readable page-turner where nothing is what it initially seems. Packed with tension, jaw-dropping revelations and nail-biting intrigue, Sue Watson’s The Resort is a dark and creepy tale of domestic suspense fans of Paula Hawkins and B A Paris will not want to put down.

Slightly entertaining but not thrilling. A little predictable. I feel like there weren’t really any twists

A lock room mystery set at a swanky, luxury resort, where the guests all possess knowledge and secrets that they would prefer never see the light of day. Three couples who meet are all seeking different things from this trip. They are in various points of their relationships, but all on the brink of *something* that we discover throughout the book. An entertaining book with various twists along the way (that I won’t spoil), I recommend it for those who like whodunnits and lock room mysteries. Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture!

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. A cast of varied characters, all with their own ‘issues’ and a couple of awful husbands! A good whodunnit set in an exclusive resort, the story unfolded through chapters alternating points of view. Good writing and several developments that kept me hooked right to the end!
