Where do i begin...the men in this book are all horrible! They're either controlling, misogynists or just plain offensive in some way or another. I detested them all from the get go! So this is definitely a nod to the author for the character development. My dislike was probably strengthened by the friendship developed by the females in the book.

It's a typical holiday retreat 'whodunnit' which is an easy guess but still a compelling read and set in something quite simply off the set of an Agatha Christie novel - which is pointed out within the story itself. The story didn't captivate me and grip, there was a lot of repetition but am i disappointed having read it...No. It's a light and enjoyable summer read.

Sam and David are deliriously happy on their dream honeymoon on a gorgeous island. They're staying at a luxury hotel with stunning views. They meet two other couple and it's all downhill from there. This book was fantastically fabulous! Filled with secrets, lies and gasp-out-loud moments! I loved it!

Three couples all on a vacation of a lifetime, each with their own relationship problems hope to gain a fresh start in paradise. Unfortunately, they are now stuck in paradise while the police try to find out who murdered a waitress and then a guest is assaulted. The couples begin to look at their relationships and wonder if they really know each other. A good suspenseful mystery.

Once again, Sue Watson delivers a stellar domestic thriller in which I’m pulled every which way and I honestly could not work out the ending despite myself! She dropped clues throughout but her clever writing had me guessing right up until the very last page! I loved the multiple POV with first person and third person with all of the women. Such a great book and one of the reasons Watson is one of my favorites!

Sign me up for any book set at a luxurious, secluded resort. Add a mystery and I'm sold! Couples are on their honeymoons, celebrating marriages, spending time together, trying to move past sad events, but what nobody expects is for their romantic getaway to involve multiple murders. This was my first book by Sue Watson, but if her other books are as fast paced, twisty, and addicting as this one, I absolutely want to read more! Be warned though, this book will make you question the trust of people close to you!

The Fitzgerald’s is an art deco hotel that screams out luxury, expensive and grace. This particular hotel also shares a sinister past. However, it seems it’s the perfect honeymoon location for Sam and David, a perfect venue for Daisy and her husband Tom both trying to recover from a heartbreaking trauma. And a place where Becky full of anxiety and antidepressants regards her husband Josh who likes to be in control. The scene is set, the potential for the couple’s vacation is ruined with the horrifying discovery of the body of waitress Stella at the base of the cliffs.

First of all, what a wonderful sounding location & place. Watson utilizes this setting very effectively throughout the novel but especially the glitter before and with less shine after Stella’s death as it then becomes a very claustrophobic location. The hot spell of weather is used extremely effectively too, adding a stifling atmosphere which is palpable and increases the intensity of the unfolding events.

The couples are portrayed well, the men are awful. I’m getting a little tired of the dreadful doormat women characters, where the men can say, do and be whoever and the woman just let them. If my husband said, did or acted like Sam’s husband did we wouldn’t be married from the get! I got very heated the way David would say things to Sam and I’m telling you I would not take that shit no way, no how! The ultimate ending was a real surprise! Didn’t see that one coming! Well executed Watson! Overall, it’s an easy, entertaining and perfect for summer escapism.

This is my second thriller from Sue Watson and I am really looking forward to checking out more from her after reading The Resort. I love a whodunnit thriller set in a picturesque location, especially if its cut off from the world on an island. This had all the makings of a great murder mystery. The twists and turns and red herrings in this will keep you guessing until the very end, where the multiple epilogues from the various POVs will absolutely blow your mind. I guess I should have seen some of them coming looking back because there was a lot of foreshadowing, but I somehow still missed so many clues as to what happened. I loved watching the 3 main women characters build their bond and eventually help each other find comfort and move on with their lives. I have to mention the epilogues again because they were so perfectly written. Even without them, I would have rated this 5 stars, but the epilogues really tied everything together and wrapped it in a perfect little bow because we got to find out everyones secrets from their own POV and why they did what they did. It was a bit hard at first to keep track of the 3 couples, but once they all started interacting it got much easier. I loved how intricately the storylines were woven and I was completely shocked by the ending. What more could you ask for in a thriller? I’m already a big fan of Sue Watson’s thrilling novels, and this latest one is exceptionally good.

We meet three couples, and it’s very interesting to see how appearances can be deceptive. Almost everyone has a secret, or an issue, and the glitz and glamour all around can be an illusion.

Right from the start I was caught up in the action, and I had no idea who might have been responsible for the murder. It was very hard to trust any of the characters.

The beautiful surroundings are at odds with the events that are taking place there, and the sultry weather and the isolation of the resort all contribute to the sense of rising tension and suspense.

I just flew through the pages of this book, and when I wasn’t reading it, I couldn’t wait to get back to it. Pacy, thrilling and chilling, this book will have you completely addicted and you’ll find it impossible to put down. Superb.

Really enjoyed this fast paced and fun read. Lots of character interaction and I was constantly changing my mind who I liked and didn’t like!! The ending was a proper twist which I didn’t see coming. I will definitely read more books by this author, highly recommend for a weekend of reading, you won’t want to put it down!!

Fitzgeralds is a luxury hotel on a remote island. Three couple come for various reasons and bond on their first night at the resort. Then a hotel employee is found murdered. Everyone is detained on the island as the police investigate. The bumps in the three relationships begin to show, as the strain of being confined on the island and questioned by police has its effects.

I found the story interesting, but a tad unbelievable. The characters were interesting, but all the men were generally unlikable. Although I did want to read to the conclusion, this was not my favorite among the author's books that I've read. Still, it was an enjoyable read..

The Resort is a fast-paced, twisty, enjoyable puzzle of a book. I had a lot of fun reading it.

The book takes place at a resort (of course) where three couples meet each other for the first time and become friends. Each pair has their secrets, problems, and peculiar dynamic.

Then an employee from the hotel is found murdered and this impacts each couple in mysterious ways.
The relationships are varied and interesting. The story is told from the women’s perspectives, with each chapter rotating through the characters’ points of view. Unfortunately, I sometimes found it difficult to differentiate between the characters and had to take time to orient myself. Also, in order to create mystery, the identity of a man in various chapters is not made clear, which can lead to a bit of confusion as well.

However, the writing is fun and easy, the mystery is sufficiently mysterious, and the twists were unpredictable. There is a definite feminist bent to the novel, which I appreciated, but some readers might find the male characters too unlikeable.

Overall, a good time and I will seek out more of this writer’s work.

Another fabulous read from this author. Dark and dastardly goings on, great interplay between our characters and people to hate and root for. I changed my mind so many times about some of those people as back stories were revealed and the reader is drip fed clues as to what really happened. I raced through it!

It started out so great and then lost me. I love the vacation friends concept but this was so unbelievably and lost me totally. I finished

Sue Watson's novel, The Resort, was a suspenseful thrill ride that kept me guessing and hooked! Three couples find themselves at Fitzgeralds, an upscale resort, for various reasons. A waitress is found dead, and suspicions amongst all of the couples abound. Each couple has marriage issues, even the honeymooners. Everyone is a suspect. This book was told in first person and from the perspectives of each character. We learn about all of their backstories and points of view. There were lots of twists and turns in the story, and I had trouble putting this book down. This is the first noel I have read by the author, and I will definitely be checking out her other works. I highly recommend! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

A few trigger warnings for this book, rape and miscarriage to name just a couple.

If you like something with twists and turns, this book is for you! Interesting and pacey to keep the reader turning pages. I did guess the ending eventually but not until fairly close to the reveal which I loved. There is nothing worse than guessing at rhe beginning of the book!

Fun and exciting, worth a read.

Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of Sue Watson and she’s always been a consistent 5 stars for me. Until this one, unfortunately!

This just was not for me - unlikeable characters, especially the husbands(!), and a bit of an unrealistic relationship formed amongst the couples.

Still love ya Sue Watson! Can’t wait for the next one :)
