Wow what a great read! Sue Watson does it again. I was totally wrapped up in this one. From beginning to end it just kept me turning the pages. The characters were so well developed and made me feel like I was a part of the story. Great premise and excellent delivery.

This is a twisty, fast paced thriller that is full of suspense! There was always something happening in the book from the beginning, to the very end. I was completely absorbed by the story and spent the whole time trying to figure out who the killer was!

Wow, did not see that coming. Excellent story of three couples stay at a beautiful remote resort on a secluded island. While the luxury resort has some dark history, all three couples hope for a wonderful vacation. All three couples have their own reasons for coming, one is celebrating their honeymoon, one is trying to heal from a devastating loss and the other is dealing with a terminal diagnosis. As they hang out and the ladies of the group become friends the men do not. Then a violent turn of events cause them all to wonder if the island and their new friends are safe to be around. Extremely fast paced and impossible to put down.

Once again another deliciously fabulous book from Sue Watson and again a reminder as to why she is one of my favourite authors. Three different couples are holidaying on a fabulous island resort, high end and everything absolutely five star including fine dining and beautiful accommodation. But then a young bartender Stella is found murdered and these three couples lives will never be the same. All are under police suspicion and trapped on the island as the police are desperate to get the culprit and make an arrest. All three couples have troubles brewing in their marriages and as their holiday progresses revelations will unfold which will test the strongest of them.

I particularly liked the friendships developed between the three main women characters and loved the support they showed each other even when times were testing them all. The book is full of wonderful twists, turns and suspence all woven together to take the reader on a very exciting journey trying to decide who is guilty and who will be arrested for the crime.

This is another of Sue's book which I highly recommend, a fabulous thriller I am sure you will enjoy and was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

The ending was a total surprise! Although the story got a bit plodding in the middle, it was worth hanging in until the end.

I feel like this book got away from the author pretty quickly. The dueling POVs were a bit too much with the three couples. The men were almost all horrible and the women turned out to be pretty awful as well. The mystery ended up being pretty predictable and not terribly intriguing.

The most interesting part was the epilogue where everything came together, but even that wasn’t enough to save it.

The Resort by Sue Watson was not as page-turning as it was described. The story was a bit disturbing and also confusing. In this book, the back and forth between characters and the timeline did not work for me.

This is a thriller told from the point of view of three different couples who are on holiday at a glamorous resort set on an island off Devon, England. When a body is discovered at the bottom of the cliffs everyone on the island is forbidden to leave while the police investigate the murder.
This a twisty tale with lots of red herrings which will throw you off the scent throughout. In the beginning it was difficult at times to remember which couple was which and who partnered who but everything is neatly tied up in the last third of the book.
I think this would be a good holiday read, although you will probably end up looking at your fellow holidaymakers through different eyes.

OMG! I loved ‘The Resort.’ First things first, I’d like to go there. What an amazing place it sounds. The descriptions and reactions of the characters took me to a wonderful place. But, don’t be fooled. This book is a thriller and contains lashings of mystery.

The drama was there in abundance with lashings of emotion. Jealousy, sadness, fear and heartache. I was soon immersed in the lives of Daisy, Sam and Becky, and their stories were both harrowing and saddening. As the tension ramped up, I found that I couldn’t put this book down, and I didn’t want to as a I became wrapped up their lives.

Sue Watson has done it again and this book is a gripping read. The island itself had the desired effect by trapping its visitors and I felt the walls closing in as the characters were slowly being trapped like flies in spider webs. If you want suffocating, heart-pounding, psychological thriller, make sure you grab your copy of this fab read. You too will not know who you can trust!

'The holiday from hell' perfectly describes this spectacularly mind-blowing thriller.

Fitzgerald's, a luxury hotel on a rugged island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, with its fantastic views and Mediterranean weather, was supposed to be the perfect getaway for couples Sam-David, Daisy-Tom, and Becky-Josh; one on a honeymoon, one to rekindle their romance after a loss and one to celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary. But the vacation turns out to be nothing less than a nightmare when someone is found dead and another brutally attacked. The vacationers can't help feeling trapped as they have been advised not to leave the island before the culprit can be found; meanwhile the couples wait each day knowing there is a murderer amongst them and that they could be the next victim.

A whodunnit in a locked-room mystery technique, this book was outstanding in it's writing style and characterization. The author sets the mood for the imminent suspense with a chilling history of the hotel. Descriptions of the oppressive heat and looming storm only serve to notch up the apprehension in an already tense storyline.

Six main characters, each with a different personality must have been an uphill task to write, but the author handles this expertly in her portrayal of the three couples. The plot twists were gasp-worthy, however, the climax was rather tame in comparison. And yet I can't complain, as the subtle manner in which vengeance was meted out was quite gratifying.

My Thoughts: The author did an excellent job of developing the characters, there was depth, complexity, and creativeness. There were three couples and the women of the couples have complex secrets and makes for an interesting read. The writing was inventive, creative, and complex. After the murder, everyone suspects everyone, I love those type of scenarios as it makes for an intriguing read. This is my first book from Sue Watson but definitely will not be my last. I was engaged from page one, a page turner, fast-paced thriller for me. The ending was whoa what just happened? I do not want to give too much and spoil for anyone, so I will just say, go preorder now as this book releases next month!

My thoughts:
Give me ALLLL the locked-room-mysteries and murderous whodunnits! Honestly, I couldn't fly through the pages fast enough with all the juicy drama going on. While I have to include a trigger warning of graphic sexual assault, I absolutely hooked by this brilliant storyline. While I was considering every possibility for the whodunnit and inevitably came across parts of the scenario that actually happened, I could never be quite sure which scenario was the real deal. I also loved the back-to-back revelations in the three epilogues. So if you're going to read one book at the beach this year, make it this one!

This was my second book by this author, and it's my favorite so far.

Throughout this novel I was convinced I knew what was happening but as per usual in Sue Watson's books she has the great knack to pull the reader into so many different directions you are twisted backwards and forwards until you feel dizzy. A great unputdownable read

A perfect vacation getaway...or perfect place for a nightmare?

The Resort is a story of three couples--Sam and David, who are newly married couple, Daisy and Tom, and Becky and Josh. The waitress Stella seems to be flirting with one of the husbands and the next day, Stella was found...murdered. Now the police gets involved and one of them is the killer.

Though it started a little slow, soon, it got really interesting. It was fast paced, with twists and turns along the way. The story is told from the three wives' point of view--Sam, who is questioning about David's trust, Daisy and Becky, each having sort of problem in their married life. The author has done a good job of making the reader feel like they are at the edge of the seat and towards the middle of the book, it got interesting. The ending was completely unexpected--I really did not expect that type of ending--not going to give too much spoilers.

If you are into thrillers based on a summer resort with twists and turns that will take you on a roller coaster ride...then this book is one for you--worth five stars!

Whoa! I've been a Sue Watson fan for awhile now, and THE RESORT has some of the most vile characters she has created to date!

Three couples meet while on holiday, Becky and Josh, Sam and David and Daisy and Tom. Each couple has their issues, but they all band together when Stella, a beautiful hotel employee, is found dead on the beach. Everyone instantly becomes a suspect and isn't allowed to leave, turning the plot into a locked room thriller of sorts. Who would want Stella dead, and is one of the resort visitors responsible for her death and more disturbing acts?

The action was relentless, the twists dizzying, and the characters created so well, faults and all. You'll want to get your hands on this one when it releases June 24, 2022. So many thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for this e-ARC.

Good summer read

I did keep forgetting where this book was set (UK) but that was probably because they spoke about how hot and isolated it was - so I was imagining a Maldives island. THe book is told in alternating chapters of the three main female characters. Secrets are hinted at throughout the book, and shocking revelations occur. I think mostlythough it didn;t feel very shocking as the characters played out roles in the way their characters were described. I didn't feel particularly gripped to the pages although I was intrigued enough to keep reading to discover the outcome.

I read this in one very short sitting, it was completely riveting. I was gripped right from the start and engaged all the way through. Twisty and unpredictable, full of mystery and atmosphere. I loved it.
