It seemed as if I was watching a Netflix drama series where each episode is left on that cliffhanger causing you to just click that 'next episode' button.
I personally love short chapters when it comes to thrillers, especially when we jump to different points of views and characters.
Three couples are on holiday at a luxurious resort.
Whilst for some the vacation is meant as an escape from their problems, others find that they truly don’t know their
partners at all.
This book kept me guessing until the very end. I've read many thrillers so when I say that I genuinely didn't expect the plot twists, it's quite a statement!!

Daisy, Becky, and Sam and their husbands met at the beautiful island Fitzgerald Resort. They met and became friends that did most everything together during their vacations. Sam and David were on their honeymoon after a whirlwind romance while the other couples were trying to reconnect and resolve issues in their marriages. As they get to know each other a resort employee is found dead on the resort. Everyone is scared and wants to leave but there are no boats expected to take them to the mainland. Everyone suspects each other and tensions rise and then even more sinister things began to happen. The intensity ramps up as everyone there is scared and cannot leave. I could not put this book down until it was revealed who was doing these horrid things and why. I loved the island resort setting and the way the author described them. I felt like I was there experiencing the resort. A thriller that you don't want to miss.

Wow this really is a book that will have you twisting and turning from one thought to another and have you questioning every single person staying at this resort. What is meant to be a relaxing holiday turns into a murder investigation and as three couples find themselves thrown together can they even trust their own husbands as somewhere there is a murderer living amongst them. I loved this book.

The resort is a compelling read, past paced with plenty of turns and twists!
Based in the exclusive fitzgeralds island hotel, we meet three couples who are all staying for different reasons, who all end up marooned together as part of a murder enquiry after Stella a hotel employee is found dead presumed murdered! Suddenly the idyllic location becomes a prison where everyone is a suspect!
Becky and Josh are a middle aged couple who have been married for 20 years and are here to have some relaxing couple time, reconnect and enjoy each other’s company away from the pressures of family life as they have something life altering to deal with! To others Josh comes across as controlling and dominant but is there a reason for this?
Daisy and Tom are a beautiful successful couple who are trying to heal after losing a child and coming to terms with infertility, on paper they look the ideal couple but Daisy has demons from her past and is ostracising herself from Tom resulting in arguments and an ever increasing distance between them!
David and Sam are newlyweds on their honeymoon, they are not enjoying their stay David comes across as arrogant and rude and Sam feels belittled and lonely as he continues to play mind games with her very reminiscent of his relationship with his ex wife!
As the investigation unfurls relationships change and alter as everyone is a suspect, lies, revelations and surprising twists add to the excitement and hold your attention right till the end!

The Resort by Sue Watson Had difficulty in keeping the various POVs straight. It was difficult to get to know all of the characters and understand their motivations, and the husband's actions were occasionally exaggerated. The couples were hard to relate to and were people I wouldn't really care to know. There were a myriad of secrets and some good twists and turn towards the end of the book.

It was an easy and fast read. The pace was right, and it kept me interested from beginning to end. Each couple has its problem, yet everything looks perfect and glamorous to the outside world. The ending was nice but somewhat predictable. I do find that the characters are not fully developed and seem superficial. Their characters barely touch the surface. It reads like a game of Clue, and there's no depth.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Resort by Sue Watson. This was my first book by this author but it will definitely not be my last. The Resort is set at a luxury hotel on a small island off the coast of the UK. It follows three couples: Sam and David, Becky and Josh, and Daisy and Tom. All three couples are already dealing with their own challenges, when they find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation. A young waitress, who had brief interactions with several of the guests, is found murdered at the bottom of the seaside cliffs. As the investigation progresses, secrets are revealed and lies are uncovered. There are so many amazing twists throughout this book. It is definitely a page-turner! I highly recommend The Resort to anyone looking for a thrilling and suspenseful mystery novel with tons of twists!

You can never go wrong with a Sue Watson fast paced twisty thriller. This one held my attention all the way through and always kept me guessing. I love books where people are set on an island and “trapped”. In this case, you can’t really go anywhere when there is a murder investigation going on and everyone is being questioned! Couldn’t put this one down!

I REALLY enjoyed this book. Watson is a master of atmospheric writing, and I could feel both the luxury and creepiness of the resort oozing off the pages. The multiple points of view were great - At first I was confused by the changing of characters, but then I was able to keep up with who was who (and who was married to who). If you need a little cheat sheet, write one - it's worth it!

The vacation-gone-wrong trope is popular with thrillers, and I was really pleasantly surprised that this book delved so much deeper than I had expected in a variety of topics (will keep these to myself to avoid any spoilers)!

Essentially, this one is quick, twisty and nothing is as meets the eye. If you're looking for a read this summer while basking on the beach or by the lake, pick this one up!

This was an entertaining story. I enjoyed how each couple was described and how they interacted with each other and the other couples. At the beginning there was a little longer description than I would have preferred but as I read more, it got more interesting. The Resort is a psychological thriller written by Sue Watson. Imagine a picturesque, luxurious resort called Fitzgeralds. Built in the 1920s and used to be a palace on an island in the middle of the ocean. Do not let the picture fool you. Fitzgerald's has some dark aspects and a history of dead people. First the millionaire, then the hotel chef, and then two lovers. But that was before.

It is a fast-paced, on the edge of your seat story, and once I began, I could not put it down. Three couples with unique problems are the players in The Resort’s storyline, who hope to work on their relationships during their vacation.

Besides being a waitress, Stella is also a yoga instructor at the hotel. She is a beautiful young student. When she failed to show up for yoga class one morning, they thought she was sick, but only later did they discover she had died.

David and Sam are a newlywed couple on their honeymoon. They should not be experiencing any problems at this stage of their relationship. Sam works as a hairdresser in Manchester and is in her thirties. However, she struggles with insecurities, whereas David has a successful business and is in his forties.

Tom and Daisy lost their baby at eight months pregnant, and they are struggling to cope with baby James’s death. Tom, eight years younger than Daisy, works for a German bank. Daisy, thirty-five, works as an art director for a successful glossy magazine.

Josh and Becky are dealing with health issues. They have two children, Amy, sixteen, and Ben, fourteen. Becky used to be a teacher and suffers from depression because of her illness. Josh is overly protective of his wife and running for charities to support this.

I found The Resort intriguing, with lots of twists and turns throughout. There is nothing derogatory to say about this book. It’s well written and exceptionally well edited and, without a doubt, I recommend it to an audience who loves psychological thrillers. My rating is five out of five stars.

First of all, thanks to Netgally for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I read this thriller while on holiday, which is probably the best place to enjoy it. It´s about three married couples on holiday at a 5 star resort/island. The chapters rotate point of view between the 3 different wives, all with their own different problems and dissatisfactions with their husbands. Then, a body is discovered at the bottom of the cliffs. Each character becomes suspicious of the others as the police begin to investigate what exactly happened.
I found the mystery fairly good and there were a few twists and turns along the way, but I can´t honestly say I loved it. It was difficult to really get to know all the characters, to clearly understand their motivations and the husbands actions were somewhat over the top at times. I just can´t buy someone being totally normal one minute, and then becoming a raging psycho abusive jerk the next....and then back and forth... Still, it definitely wasn´t bad and I did not find it a chore to get through. Would be interested in reading further books by this author.

Loved this kept me reading right til the end devoured this in one sitting ! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher !!

This story was confusing for me at first… you meet 3 different couples and honestly I kept getting their names/stories mixed up for about 60% of the book… I truly did not know how this story was going to turn out though and I really enjoyed it. It kept me guessing the entire time and I flew through the last half. I was pleasantly surprised with the ending and the wrap up.. not how I originally thought!

Fitzgeralds is an art deco luxury and expensive hotel which has a dark past. Amongst the glitz and glamour, the cocktails and the exquisite food there lurks malevolence. However, it seems it’s the perfect honeymoon location for Sam and David although Sam is a tad out of her depth and very insecure for several reasons. It’s also a perfect venue for Daisy and her husband Tom both trying to recover from a heartbreaking trauma. Becky, full of anxiety and antidepressants, regards her husband Josh and wonders if he has eyes on a different prize. The scene is set, the potential for the couples vacation ruined with the horrifying discovery of the body of waitress Stella at the base of the cliffs.

First of all, what a superb location and I’m assuming it’s based on Burgh Island in Devon, a place at which I’ve long wished to stay but without this kind of drama! The author utilises this setting very effectively throughout the novel but especially the glitter before and with less shine after Stella’s death as it then becomes a very claustrophobic location. The hot spell of weather is used extremely effectively too, adding a stifling atmosphere which is palpable and increases the intensity of the unfolding events.

The couples are portrayed well, the dynamics are good as you feel the vulnerability, fragility and insecurity of the females but it has to be said the men are awful, full of pretense, all mask wearers and one in particular is a word twister manipulator. You feel the tension between them and your suspicion radar twitches in several directions much like the women themselves do in the novel! The characters are doing their sums and something is not adding up! However how reliable are the novel’s narrators!? I really like the growing bond between the women which feels real and authentic.

However, there’s a bit of going round and round the garden at Fitzgeralds with some repetition which spoils things a bit for me. The ending feels a bit low-key and I suppose the expectations are for something more dramatic but maybe on reflection this is more realistic and works better.
The ultimate ending is a real surprise! Didn’t see that one coming! Well played!

Overall, it’s an entertaining easy read and perfect for summer escapism.

With any Sue Watson domestic noir novels you know you are in for a treat - memorable characters, plausible plots and never ending twists. Here we have three couples meeting at an exclusive resort on an island just off Devon in England. Holiday friendships are usually easy and rarely too significant but here they matter, oh so much they matter. Had me guessing and getting it wrong several times, it’s all fun until it’s not. Excellent finish.

This is my first book from the author. It's the first time I read a book with multiple POVs and I did not think I was going to enjoy it that much. That was because the mystery is really solid and engaging, really easy to follow.
Having been locked up for 3 years almost not travelling I really really love an exotic backdrop and this is simply wonderful. Great reading experience and congratulations on the final twist! :)

Another page-turner from Sue Watson!

At first I was slow to start this as I'm not generally a fan of multiple POVs. Two is okay, but anymore than that and I find it difficult to follow; I think Sue succeeded here because each POV had a different narrative - 1st person present, 1st person past, and 3rd person past, which I haven't read before, so it was a learning curve for me. But by the time I got to the 40% mark, I actually couldn't put this book down, and finished the remainder in one night!

Firstly, can I just say Sue Watson is the master at writing villainous men you just want to reach through your Kindle and slap! Honestly, David? Bleh, what a flog!

So many twists and so many turns, Sue is also brilliant at leading the reader to suspect someone, and then BAM!

High level, The Resort is a story about 3 different couples who holiday in a secluded resort- literally on an island with nothing else - who all have their own relationship/personal issues that they're dealing with, all brought together when one of the beautiful, young resort staff members is found brutally murdered. Everyone on the island - staff and guests - is a suspect, and no one is allowed to leave until the killer is found.

I mean, honestly, I could think of worse things than being stranded on an island, at a luxurious resort with a murderer on the looser, but then again, we have been locked up for the last two and bit years, so give me a break!

Brilliant as always. I'm such a Sue Watson fan.

I enjoyed this book, enjoyed the plot and all of the twists. The final twist was WOW.
