Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. This book overall wasn't bad. It was just too drawn out and long in the middle. I ended up skipping part of the middle and going to the end. Some good twists and good secrets at the end, but just took too long to get there.

This is the story of three couples on a luxurious holiday on an isolated island. Daisy and Tom have come to try and strengthen their relationship following the loss of their child. Sam and David are on their honeymoon, having got married after a very short time of knowing each other. Becky and Josh have been married for 20 years, and whilst they seem like a happy couple, Josh is secretly very controlling of his wife. When one of the workers, Stella, is found dead at the bottom of the cliffs, the police treat her death as murder, and no one is allowed to leave the island whilst they investigate. The fingers of guilt begin to be pointed from one guest to another, but there appears to be a lot more going on than meets the eye…

I enjoyed this book; it was a tense and suspense filled encounter with three very unusual couples! Each of the women were very different and yet they all have difficult relationships with their husbands. I have to admit I didn’t find any of them particularly likeable, they all seemed to have issues and secrets which developed as the book moved on, but a couple of them I empathised more with than the others. The storyline moved along at a steady pace, creating lots of questions as it did. I’ve read books by this author before, and I know she’s very clever at creating dead ends and red herrings, and this book has them by the bucketful!

Along with its stunning location, this book had me captivated with its dramatic storyline. I couldn’t see where the storyline was heading but thanks to the author’s skill at revealing all the characters flaws and secrets little by little, I was kept on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens! The storyline twisted and turned from the very beginning right to the end. Gripping and nail-biting…I would definitely recommend!

“When a dream trip becomes your worst nightmare…”

Three couples meet at a luxurious resort on an isolated island and quickly become friends. Perhaps too quickly. Sam and David are honeymooning after a brief courtship and she is learning that he is definitely not the person she thought he was. Daisy and Tom seem to have it all - looks, money, careers - but are missing the one thing they want the most. Becky and Josh, celebrating twenty years of marriage, are mysterious and deceptive. Just why does Josh spend so much time running? And why does he lock Becky in their room?

There’s a lot going on behind closed doors. Problems come to a head when Stella, a beautiful young art student who works multiple jobs at the resort, is found dead at the bottom of a cliff. The police investigate and refuse to let any vacationers leave the island. The new friends begin to suspect each other as the investigation moves slowly towards an arrest. Then there is another attack - an attempted murder in the same location as the first. They know the killer is still on the island. Is he or she sharing a room with one of them?

Sue Watson delivers another fast-paced, tension filled thriller with The Resort. Fitzgerald’s, the resort, with its deluxe suites, mouth watering meals (the amuse-bouches!) and poolside yoga, is a character itself. The three couples are strong characters with many understandable problems. And the conclusion…what a shock! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sue Watson for this ARC.

I really enjoy Sue Watson novels, engaging, fast paced, twisty and well written. This is yet another excellent read that I read in one sitting.

Three couples are on holiday at a secluded island resort looking to have the time of their lives but end up in a murder investigation. When Stella the resorts bartender is discovered dead at the bottom of nearby cliffs everyone is under suspicion and forced to remain available for police interviews.

Daisy and Tom were looking to reignite the desire that had been missing from their relationship and this holiday seemed to be the perfect tonic. Much of their troubles stem from the tragic loss of their child and the news that Daisy will never again be able to have children. For Sam and David, this was to be a dream honeymoon to celebrate their very brief relationship. Sam and David are very different, David is self confident, full of himself and forever making Sam feel upset by his cutting remarks. Becky and Josh were young lovers who married and have enjoyed over twenty years together. They are looking forward to a dream holiday where they can relax. Their relationship to any observers is very strange. Josh appears to dictate Becky’s every move, planning her schedule, her diet and when she should take a rest. Three interesting couples that will get your mind racing wondering what is happening. This is a very entertaining read. I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a very dark read, but with moments of humanity too (especially in Becky's circumstances). For a while I was getting frustrated as to how any of the women felt their husband's were worth marrying, but as you delve into their backgrounds you can see how they came together. Some great twists at the end, it's becoming harder for thriller's to surprise nowadays, but this one did. Recommend.

Right off the bat, telling you this was a solid 4.5 star read! Add it to your TBR list...now!

"When a dream trip becomes your worst nightmare…"

The book focuses on three couples who are thrown together in the midst of a murder investigation at a posh resort. Stella, a young and beautiful bartender/yoga instructor at the resort is found dead at the bottom of the cliffs near the ocean. No one is allowed to leave the island as the police investigate.

Meet the couples.

Daisy and Tom. Daisy is beautiful and successful. Her husband Tom is younger than her. They have come to the resort to try and strengthen their relationship. Daisy has not been able to get over her grief after they lost their child and are told Daisy will never be able to carry a child, Can love overcome the grief and shadow over their relationship?

Sam and David - On their honeymoon at the resort after a whirlwind courtship. Is Sam having doubts about rushing into marriage? David's ego is huge and from the beginning of the book is always making rude comments and gaslighting Sam. Maybe it was too soon.

Becky and Josh - Married for 20 years with two teenagers, they are at the resort together to recharge and relax. Becky appears very quiet while Josh controls her movements throughout the day doing things like instructing waiters what she will eat and drink and making sure she takes afternoon naps. Is he as controlling as he appears or is there more to their story?

After Stella is found murdered, everyone becomes a suspect and everyone begins to suspect each other. The book is captivating, thrilling and hard to put down. The end comes at you like a slap in the face... where did that come from? But then as you massage your cheek to recover from the slap, you are slapped once again from the other side! lol! The ending did not disappoint.

An excellent read, totally recommend! Thank you NetGalley and Bookoutre for sharing an advanced ARC to review! 4.5 stars rounding up to 5 for rating.

I quite enjoyed this book, told from three couples view. Interesting with a good twist at the end. Annoying characters but that adds to the whole premise of the book. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

This thriller set in a luxury hotel resort in Devon tells the perspectives of 3 different women, all with a very different personal struggle. The stories interweave to show different perspectives amidst the unfolding of a murder in the hotel.

I enjoyed this quick read, with lots of twists that kept me guessing until the last page.

Recommend for those looking for a thriller or fast paced beach read.

The resort by @suewatsonbooks
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

3 couples in desperate need of a holiday for their own needs meet in a resort called the Fitzgerald. Secluded on an island , they all seem to make friends . Somehow despite their differences, yet in spit of their similarities. The 6 of them start meeting regularly for dinners and telling eachother their secrets . The big one? All 3 husbands seemed to have had a fascination with a young blonde waitress . And all 3 wives despised the looks and attention their husbands offered to that woman , instead of them . When shes found dead police try to figure out whether it was a suicide, murder or a horrible accident . And thinga just don't sit right with anyone now . Unable to leave the island while investigators do their jobs ; everyone starts questioning who did it ? Rumor fly and fingers are pointed . But none of it matters, what does is the truth - they are all stuck on an island with what police are niw considering a homicide .. the killer is there . Somewhere .

Wow ! Just wow. This book was absolutely brilliant. I was hooked well into the first chapter and they held me until the bitter end . There were so many twists. And questions . I thought I had it figured out . And I did . But then the author had this magnificent way of leading you to believe your mad and your thoughts are irrational. And everything you thought was irrelevant .

Absolutely love this one and I will 100% be reading more from this author !

Clear your calendar, you won’t want to put this one down. Sue Watson knows how to write a thriller. Watson knows how to pull you in and keep you reading. The characters are fully executed with their flaws and positive attributes. You’ll be gripped with intrigue and fear. Buckle down and enjoy.

Sue Watson sure has written a twisty and incredibly difficult to leave down book , I felt as if I was standing on the edge watching the plot unfurl , her writing is so descriptive and brings the reader right into the story and I would have never guessed that ending. Easily a seven or eight star read.

I really enjoyed reading this. I have a soft spot for thrillers set on holiday so from the start it was right up my street. I liked that we got to know the characters well before the action started as it helped to empathise with them. I think that secrets were revealed at the right pace to keep things exciting but not frustrating. It did bother me a bit that Sam and Becky's POV were first person and Daisy's was third person - I thought there might be a good reason for this but having now finished the book I can't see it!

Overall this was a very good book and I would definitely recommend it.

Sue Watson does it again!! One of my favorite thriller writers!
This book was fantastic and the characters were written so smoothly.
Watson drew me in and the further I got into it the harder it got for me to put it down.
I had no clue as to what to expect.
I absolutely raced through this extremely gripping and hugely addictive page-turner.
There was no way I could stop myself as I furiously flicked the pages to reach the ending of this outstanding novel!
The tension builds at a steady pace for most of the book.
I was truly stunned. Fans of Watson are going to go insane of The Resort!

I love a vacation gone wrong and The Resort does not disappoint. Sue Watson does it again with this interesting premise - 3 couples are essentially marooned on an island inside a beautiful exclusive resort following the mysterious death of an employee. As more mysterious events take place, the couples (as well as other vacationers) are stuck in the luxurious hotel until the police solve the crimes.

In The Resort you will meet three very different women with complicated relationships with their husbands. As the days pass, it will become more and more difficult to identify who is the one at fault. Take a moment to bask in the sun and enjoy the beautiful island but it comes at a cost....If you love a vacation gone wrong, complicated and twisty relationships and murders to solve, then this is a novel for you! #SueWatson #TheResort #Bookoture #NetGalley

First of all, thanks to netgally and bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

You’ve been excited about this getaway for months – at last, a chance to reconnect with your husband at a secluded island resort. But when he unexpectedly calls you from the beach, you hear the urgency in his voice. Something is very wrong.

The beautiful waitress from the restaurant last night has been found lying dead in the sand. And the police want to question your husband about it.

Sure, you saw him glance at her over dinner a few times, but you know he didn’t have anything to do with the poor girl’s death. So why is he asking you to lie to the police that he was with you all night? And where did he go in those missing hours?

When he returns to your beautiful sea-view suite, things get heated and he accuses you of being jealous, just like he always does. Yes, the waitress was overly flirtatious with your husband, but you didn’t actually wish her any harm. Not really.

Can you trust the man you married… or are you the one who can’t be trusted?

The book started with one of the guest saying that a woman should call the police, so from the start you where already wondering what was going on.

I loved the premise of the book; Couples at a holiday who find each other after a murder. There were just enough suspects to keep the suspense heightened, and I just had to keep reading, searching for clues. The couples all had their secrets, but it wasn’t all revealed at the same time, which I liked. Watson has an appealing writing style that kept me on the edge of my seat. No unnecessary words or sentences.
There was always something happening, and the hotels atmosphere matched with the unsettling vibe you got while reading.

I was a bit surprised by one of the guest, not quite buying why she was there considering her condition, but it didn’t irritate me too much.

I felt satisfied by the reveals at the end, it made perfect sense to me!

All in all it was an enjoyable read.
