Three separate couples embark on a luxurious beach side vacation and end up forming a fast friendship. When a sudden tragedy strikes it appears that each couple has plenty of secrets to hide.

A secluded and lavish island resort is the perfect place for a locked room murder mystery. Watson created a slew of potential suspects and manages to cast doubt throughout the story. None of the characters were particularly likable (especially the men) and there were plenty of uncomfortable moments of derogatory dialogue, body-shaming and self loathing which left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I am such a fan of Sue Watson's but unfortunately I found this one to be slightly predictable and a little anti-climatic which was disappointing because it had so much potential.

That being said, The Resort was a quick read with an interesting plot line overall. If you're a fan of the quintessential "murder mystery in a trapped location" genre you will likely enjoy this one!

Wow! i flew through this book like crazy and I did not guess the end. I have read a few other books by Sue Watson and this one is one of her best books. it kept me guessing and I hated any time I had to put the book down to do other things. I definitely recommend this book to mystery lovers.

Coming home from vacation is always hard - especially when you are flying into Toronto with all the current delays. It took almost 12 hours to get home on a 3 hour trip but we made it and this book was my company.✈️

The Resort was a seemingly perfect book for vacation. Three couples are vacationing at an exclusive resort - all arriving on vacation with a lot of secrets and worries. When a waitress is found dead - the local police lock down the island to find out what happened - and many secrets are revealed.🩸

The book did grab my interest during the first few chapters but it quickly unraveled - jumping around from couple to couple and becoming more unbelievable. I kept reading this but it sadly, didn’t get much better for me.⭐️

This has been a book that has sent my head spinning. I’ve tried to make lots of decisions about who is to blame for the events that unfold, as well as trying to predict what the outcome of the story might be, and I have been proven wrong at every turn.

The three couples are sort of thrown together, and I was left wondering what made them gravitate towards each other as they all presented as very different characters with different lifestyles and values, but once I put that to one side I became completely engrossed in the story.

Some of the characters have sympathetic backstories, but they all have qualities that make them not very likeable, in my opinion. In some cases, that lies in the way they speak to others, the way they deal with situations, or in some cases simply why they put up with the way they are treated by others, giving the impression that they are weak characters.

Let me be clear: There are no truly weak characters. Each and every one of the main characters could be implicated in the shocking events that unfold, and the conclusion in which this is all unravelled is very clever and was ultimately the most satisfying element to the book.

I have been left reeling by the ending, but also felt like it’s satisfied some of my assumptions about the characters who at first appeared to be perfect rich couples.

This is a clever, intricate and addictive thriller, perfect for fans of T M Logan, John Marrs and Shalini Boland.

A wonderful cast of characters. A great setting with rich detail, a brilliant and well timed pace. You think you know what’s happening but then your unsure again. This is the best way to write mystery and suspense. You’ll enjoy each page.

I absolutely love this authors books and once I had started reading this then I knew life would be put on hold as I couldn’t put it down. This was a fabulous domestic psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns and unexpected revelations.

This would make a fab tv drama with its elements of mystery and drama and who dun it rolled into one.

Brilliant thriller. Took a while to get to know the dynamic of the characters. You are really gripped to the very end to find out who did it.

I have read a number of Watson’s novels and so was confident that ‘The Resort’ would prove an engaging mystery.

Just a few plot details. After an intriguing Prologue we travel back three weeks and are introduced to three couples that are holidaying at Fitzgerald’s, a famous 1920s Art Deco hotel, located on a small island off the coast of Devon. The hotel has a dark history that adds to its appeal.

Samantha and David are on their honeymoon following a whirlwind courtship. Glamorous Daisy has a high flying career in fashion and is married to Tom. They are still coming to terms with a devastating loss. Finally, Becky and Josh are married with two teenage children back home. Yet Josh seems obsessed with going running and Becky notices that he is flirting with Stella, a beautiful young waitress.

Then a body turns up on the beach and the police order all guests to remain on the island while they investigate. While a luxury island hotel isn’t the worst place to be stuck, tensions still rise. No further details to avoid spoilers.

Watson moves the narrative viewpoint between the couples and we learn about their various relationship dynamics and their backstories. In addition, during the holiday new bonds are forged.

I was pleased to discover that Fitzgerald’s was based on a real Art Deco hotel, Burgh Island, that like its fictional counterpart has a rich history.

Overall, I found ‘The Resort’ a compelling and entertaining whodunnit set in a fabulous location. A great summer read.

To be a honest I was a little disappointed with this book, I really wanted to love it but I found it confusing to keep up with all the different characters and I would have liked to have had more of a description of the resort setting. Thank you netgalley and bookouture for this ARC 3/5 stars

An idyllic Island resort, a fantastic hotel cut off from the world where luxury awaits. Is it really luxury or a horrendous nightmare. In this twisty, domestic thriller all the couples are hiding secrets possibly even from each other. After there is a murder you start to question everyone and their possible motives. I have never read Sue Watson before and I genuinely want to read everything she has written now. If you like a fast paced whodunit this is perfect.

A great domestic thriller, written in first person, from more than one point of view made you have to continuely question the characters. who could be trusted if any. Six different characters with different personalitys made this book an exciting read. The setting on a secludedvisolated picturesque island added to the intensity , , Lots of twists and turns in this fast paced thriller.

I received an ARC of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. This was a very solid thriller that kept me entertained. The chapters are told from the points of view of 3 wives who are vacationing at a luxury resort with their husbands. The author does a good job building the back story of each couple, so we do really get to know them and not get confused whose chapter it is. There were quite a few twists, most of which were surprises to me. Without giving spoilers, I was definitely surprised about the actual situation of one of the couples as the author purposely leads you to the wrong idea. As I read so many thrillers, I am always impressed when this happens. I also loved the descriptions of the resort which make this a great choice to read while on vacation! Loved the ending which kept bringing more surprises.

A twisty, fast-paced gritty thriller. An excellent read. Recommended.

A beautiful luxury resort, a couple, David and Sam on honeymoon, another, Daisy and Tom looking for time to reconnect after loss, and a third couple, Josh and Becky needing some precious time together. The prologue gives way to some serious unravelling when the death of a young woman occurs. The reader is afforded glimpses of each of the couple's interactions with one another in this cleverly written tale. I found myself altering my opinion of events and happenings on many occasions throughout the course of reading The Resort. A great escapist novel for a rainy afternoon.

as sitting ducks with nothing to do but stick together, the three couples become close, though they are continuously wary of one another. as each day trickles by, and one of the wives is assaulted, nobody knows who to trust. little by little, secrets come out over cocktails, and the wives have their suspicions about each husband, including their own. eventually, they all find themselves questioning who exactly they married.

this was a pretty slow burn, and I was constantly changing my predictions about who was guilty. i think it would have been more suspenseful if it didn’t go on as long as it did, as I found myself ready for the ending prematurely. I did find the general plot to be entertaining, but I wasn’t super into the ending. it was good, but not a favorite of mine!

This is one holiday resort that went the wrong way up! Three couples are all on vacation for different purposes: one for their honeymoon, one to heal after a failed pregnancy, and one because of the wife's fragile condition. Shortly after meeting each other, they become fast friends with one thing in common - all of the husbands have eyes for not only one of the blonde and beautiful wait staff, but also for one of the couple's wives.

When the waitress turns up dead, everyone knows the killer is still among them. Could it be someone from the couples' friend group? I love how the male characters developed as just cringey and the women became allied the more they revealed the chinks in their relationships. But even though there were really only 6 people to keep track of, I had trouble placing the couples together. There were also a few spots that had me wondering if I missed something.

But wow, the twists and the turns at the end of the book really made up for some slowing down at the mid-point. I did not see that ending coming!

I love Sue Watson's books and was very excited to dive into this one. This book does NOT disappoint! I found it to be very fast paced, lots of twists and turns and well written. Not going to lie, I finished this book in one sitting - it's that good!

I loved the setting of this story! I worked at a place similar, so I had a special connection to it. I also loved how each character kept changing and developing as each chapter moved along. This was a super fun, quick thriller to read while on vacation!

Such a gripping, intense thriller! I couldn't get enough of it and was anxious to keep reading. Loved the summer vibes as well!

I loved the plot of The Resort. Three married couples meet and form “friendships” while on their vacation getaways to a luxury resort on a remote island. Each couple has been married for different lengths of time and has their own personal drama. Early on, a young beautiful hotel staff member is found dead. A lot of lies and secrets are told, making a few look guilty of murder.

The first third went pretty quickly but there got to be a little lull. I like that it is told from the wives point of view. The husbands were asses, all in their own way. The author really brought out emotions for the one. (Couldn’t stand him!!) The story picked up the last third of the book with some surprise twists and turns. I didn’t see the final surprise coming.
