This is a gripping thriller that I really enjoyed.
Dee looks happy to those around her but deep down she’s unhappy as the wife of a dominant vicar.
A chance meeting with a man from her past soon grows into something more serious, but can Dee cope with the secrets and lies?
Her sister Mari is also dealing with problems at home but when they need each other, they drop everything to help the other.
This book has some great characters that really pull you into their story.
A great thriller with family at it’s heart.
Thanks to Little Brown Book Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This is a book about Dee, who is married to the local vicar. From the outside looking in, they have the perfect life. Things could not be further from the truth. Especially living in a little village, where everyone knows your business!

I really like this authors style of writing! Twisty and keeps you guessing.

The only thing for me, was I felt there was quite a lot of characters and I found myself getting confused, who was who.
Can I just say though - I get brain fog, part of conditions I have. So I think that was more an issue with me, rather than the book!

Thanks for allowing me to read this ARC #netgalley #carolineengland #thesinner #bookstagramshaz #bookreviews

The Sinner has a decent plot and well-drawn characters, but is very slow-moving which takes the edge of the excellent writing. Whole chapters are given over to internal, agonising debates while the plot hovers in the background waiting to progress. I did finish it but had become a little weary of it in the meantime. A bit of a disappointment, really, as I had been looking forward to this one, based on previous reviews.

" Be sure thy sin will find thee out"

Caroline England is an author whose books I will read without reading the blurb first because I know I am in for a treat and this book is an absolute blinder.

Like all of her books it is very well written with a well drawn cast of characters and a unique plot. Told from the point of view of three people, Dee, Mari and Calvin it is a story of family, secrets and lies and difficult relationships.

It will appeal to readers who like domestic noir/psychological thrillers with a twist. The ending was brilliant!

I absolutely love this authors books and couldn’t wait to read it. This authors books just get better and better this one was an amazing rollercoaster of a
Read that I couldn’t put down. Lots of secrets and lies and twists and turns all with an undertone of mystery and romance. This was a deep dark read full of secrets to be uncovered and also showed that we don’t always know what happens behind closed doors and that nothing is as it appears.

This was a slow book to start and I found it hard to get into. It did eventually speed up but I think most people would have given up by then. Nevertheless, the plot was good but just a little bit predictable.

I really enjoyed this one. I liked the 3 character pov and their voices were each unique and it was easy to know who's pov we were looking from. The characters well written and had depth and didn't just make idiotic choices to cause the issues they faced. It was all quite logical and realistic. Bit slow to start but it did get better and there were some good twists and turns, even if there was nothing jaw dropping. A really good way to pass the afternoon by the beach

Everyone has something to confess…
They definitely do!!
A fantastic story, full of twists and turns. And not at all predictable.

Told from three points of view. Dee and her sister Mari, and Cal from her old school.
From the outside, Dee seems to have a perfect life. Married to Rev Vincent, and teenage daughter. She feels suffocated. Her husband is adored by his congregation, and her mother-in-law Harriet, who lives with them, is always putting her down. Even her own daughter Abbey doesn’t seem to like her. She’s not really living her own life.
Her only ally is sister Mari, who has issues of her own. Dee is estranged from the rest of her family.
To escape the vicarage Dee has taken to running. Following an encounter one evening with Cal, she embarks on an affair. Things are not always as they seem and Cal has secrets of his own.
This author certainly has the talent to hook me in instantly.
The story totally engrossed me, moving along at a steady pace, reeling me in chapter after chapter. Easy to read and well written, the characters were likeable and some were very unlikeable!
A suspenseful plot with some dark secrets, making me hold my breath as some things were revealed. I’d definitely recommend it.
Thanks to Piatkus Books, Little, Brown Book Group UK, and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. A very slow burner which i found very hard to keep on reading. When it finally warmed up it was predictable and there were really no surprises. This book was billed as a psychological thriller but it felt more like a luke warm thriller. I am sure other readers will enjoy it more just not for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

This is well written domestic thriller with engaging characters. The book covers many plots; deceit, dysfunctional families, sexuality, death, illness and religion. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

On the outside looking in, it would appear that Cordelia (Dee Dee) Stephens has it all. A devoted husband, Reverend Vincent and a teenage daughter, Abbey.

Dee doesn’t have it all though, she isn’t happy and feels suffocated so takes to running to give her the time she needs to escape.

When she bumps into Calvin Rafferty, who was at the same school as her, they soon start an affair.

Mari is Dee’s sister, Mari’s partner, Britt is due to give birth to their baby soon but Mari is feeling overwhelmed and spending more time away from home.

The story is told from the point of view of Dee, Calvin and Mari so each chapter is different.

I took an instant dislike to Vincent and his mother who lives with them. You couldn’t not feel sorry for Dee being ganged up on by the two of them.

This is a tale of grief, secrets and lies, this makes for an excellent psychological thriller. The twists in the story, I genuinely did not see them coming! Definitely a book to look out for.

My thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

4.25-4.5⭐️

This is a standalone psychological thriller. I love the cover.

I think I’ve read one of this authors books before, tricky as she writes under a few names. I squeezed this into to my packed reading schedule as it came highly recommended from Daniel mcBreakneck.

The story is about Cordelia (Dee) who is the wife of the charismatic vicar. His congregation adores him, but Dee is suffocating.

There are 3 POV, Dee is the one who I engaged with most. There’s some characters who will really get under your skin and rile you. I enjoyed seeing a character name that I recognised from a book group.

It’s a slow start as we get to know the main characters, it’s easy reading. The revelations as they start to unfold leave you with various reactions from empathy to anger. It’s got a good complex plot,
I love how it all finally unfolds and comes together.
The ending is brilliant, my score would have been higher except that I found the start slow, it kept my interest but I need a book to keep me riveted throughout for a 5⭐️

It’s one that I would recommend.

Great characters, great storyline. I kept turning the pages instead of turning off the light! This is one intense, twisted, dark and addictive novel! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds.

Dark, Domestic Noir..
The perfect life as a vicar’s wife. Is it? Dee Stevens seemingly has it all. Doesn’t she? Reverend Vincent is the perfect husband, handsome and charming. Isn’t he? In fact, Dee is struggling and the control excercised by her husband is claustrophobic and dangerous. When Dee embarks on an affair with old schoolmate Cal, the heady escape is contagious but Cal has his own secrets and what will Vincent do when he finds out exactly what has been happening? Nothing is as it seems in this slow burn suspense with menacing and disturbing undercurrents. Characters are credible and well drawn and the narrative immersive. Dark, domestic noir with an exceptional cast.

Thanks to Net Galley for granting this book - a new author to me and what a great discovery!

The book is based on Dee Stephens who is the vicars wife and life seems so perfect with her and family and then the plot unfolds. Slowly and tantalisingly I read each chapter and was totally absorbed and loved all the twists and turns. The last few chapters had me on the edge of the seat and the ending was brilliant. A really great read

Fast paced, tense and atmospheric. Crammed full of mystery and suspense and so twisty and unpredictable that I was kept guessing right until the end. It had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to sleep with a light on, I loved it.
