It was hard to get into this book. I expected a lighthearted love story. However I couldn’t connect with the characters.

I love frenemies to lovers and this was great! I need to backtrack and read #1 because it seems definitely worth reading.

Cute and enjoyable. The two main characters have a great love-hate relationship and are forced to work together as they are both in a wedding. Adorable animals are also present and Reece is the vet everyone wants to have.

This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book

I enjoyed this book, I totally didn’t realize this is book 2 in the series but that didn’t keep me from understanding and liking the book. I will go back and find book 1 and hope for more in this series!
Reese has a thing for Maddie and has for years.
They’ve had a huge amount of love hate in their relationship and it only escalates when she’s asked to be the Maid of Honor and he’s asked to be the Best Man in their respective best friends wedding.
I am not even going to tell you how extremely happy I was that there was an aggressive llama in this story, but it might be my favorite part of all time.
Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this title.

Absolutely yes! I really enjoyed reading this novel. The characters were fun, it held my interest, and provided an escape from reality. I would definitely recommend!

This title was an easy read, low-stakes and with decent spark between the two MCs.
I liked the premise, and the setting is very cute; the frenemies-to-lovers trope is one I tend to like reading, but an extended series of miscommunications meant this felt too dragged out for me. They always had the hots for each other, and admitted this, but the reasons given for not actually allowing themselves to get together didn't feel strong enough to warrant the whole novel. I didn't particularly enjoy the repeated references to her weight/size (dieting/losing weight/watching what you were eating/etc) either.
Some people adore this, and if you're looking for a light, easy romance, with a snowy setting, this may well be the one for you.

2 stars. I was loving how cute and kitschy this book was up until about 25% when I noticed glaringly obvious things that made me cringe. The miscommunication. The weird instalove but like from friends. They'd been friends for 3 years. How did she not know he was an identical twin??? Very vague references to Denver and Seattle. Often repeating same words in sentences. I think she could have used an editor. There was a lot of fatshaming and not really addressing a huge issue of how women see themselves. I dunno. It had promise, but I didn't love it. And then throw in the pregnancy trope. Now I'm worked up.

Vets with Benefits is a feel good, friends to lovers, small town romantic comedy filled with amazing supporting characters, friendship, family and lots of lovable animals. Cute and enjoyable read - 4/5⭐️! I will definitely be checking out Sophie Penhaligon’s other works!

Loved the humour in this book (not a fan of the cover though, just have to add that sorry). Great, with banter between Reece and Maddie. The animal aspect of the book was absolutely charming and adorable. Going to seek out the first book now.

I loved Ugly Truths, the first book in this series but this one is even better. Reece and Maddie are perfect but they have a lot to work out in this book. Highly recommend!

I was unable to get past 20% on this one.

Maddie is a stubborn, fiery CPA (seems like an oxymoron?) and Reece is a laid back Veterinarian. They are supposed to be friends that decide to make a go of “furthering” their friendship.

I say supposed to because Maddie is hardly a friend to anyone and how Reece considers her a friend, I’ll never know. How does she never make another friend through the rest of school? I was a shy super nerd and lost a close friend in the later school years. I was only without anyone for a few months before I made a couple of new friends. She has a nice family with some older brothers that are in construction/renovations so they probably know everyone in town, how is she so alone and still bitter about Sam bullying her friend out of town when she should know he’s such a stand-up guy now?

This can’t possibly be a stand alone. I felt like I needed the first book to build the story between Maddie and Reece for me to care whether these two “friends” get together, unless there’s no character building there either, which in that case it’s just bad development.

I also can’t stand when people make everyone out to be a tool for their own pleasure/entertainment. “I need sex so who’s going to give it to me” rather than “wow, I’m realizing I really care about this person and feel a draw to connect our bodies”. Once again, how are they friends with this mindset?

This is a good book. The two main characters are Maddie and Reese. Maddie is a CPA and Reese is a veterinarian. They live in the same town and are great friends. Reese and Maddie have had feelings for each other for a couple of years but have not said anything. They are helping with both of their best friends’ wedding and they are spending a lot of time together. They realize they are in love and find out they are going to have a baby.

This was such a lovely book! It is a sweet and witty romance that captured my attention from the start and just drew me in. The plot was great and had such unexpected moments, it kept me intrigued and anxious to see what happened next. The characters were well-developed and endearing and you can't help but fall in love with them. The storyline had a nice smooth flow and the romance was wonderful and there were plenty of humorous moments that had me laughing out loud or just generally left me with a smile on my face.
The author did a great job of creating the scenes and making them come to life with her creative and detailed descriptions. I really got drawn into Reece and Maddie's story and couldn't wait to see how it ended. It was a charming and entertaining read and I enjoyed it all the way through. Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline will keep you captivated till the end. This is a lovely story and I'm happy to recommend!

Ok storyline that didn't do much for me. The saving grace was how bold the characters are in speaking with each other. I've never been quick-witted or great with sexual wordplay in real life. I admire the author's ability to craft that and recognize this is why vets with Benefits is fiction.

Vets With Benefits by Sophie Penhaligon

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and BookGoSocial and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Maddie Moreno, the only CPA in the small town of Angel Peaks, has a reputation for being a bit of a hot head. With a whole menagerie of interesting animals and a bad habit of getting into verbal skirmishes, things look like they are about to get interesting when she is asked to be maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding.

Local veterinarian Reece Mackey has had the hots for Maddie since he arrived in Angel Peaks three years ago and she tore him off a strip for parking in her spot. They’ve had a love-hate relationship ever since and he just loves to push her buttons. However, he’d rather push his agenda for getting up close and personal. When he’s assigned the role of best man, he sees it as the ideal opportunity to get intimate with the feisty maid of honor, but will she agree to stepping outside the friends zone?

I read this as a standalone and I am not really sure what I was expecting, but this didn't really live up to my expectations. Looking at the reviews I must be in the minority with my thoughts on this book. This is an easy read romance that would make for a great holiday read - it just wasn't for me.

Rating 3/5

I’m truly sorry, but I will not be reading this. I requested on accident - I just read part of it, and I just know this isn’t for me. Thanks for sending an ARC though. These are truly appreciated.

If you're looking for a fun love/hate romance story, Vets with Benefits may be the book for you. There's not a lot of stress as the frenemies realize their attraction and build a relationship, and there are plenty of fun animal antics to keep you entertained! Although this book is the second in the Angel Peaks series by Sophie Penhaligon, it's an enjoyable stand alone novel.
