This is the second book in the Angel Peaks series and it was just as much fun as the first. However if you haven’t read the first one you could easily enjoy this as a stand alone book. Pure delight.

I feel at a loss with all the high ratings. I was hoping for a light, upbeat romance with great chemistry between the H/h. Adding some animals and humor and it should have been a winner.

Instead, I didn’t care for either Maddie or Reece; I never warmed up to either character. I never could get past the backtalk, instalust and miscommunication.

As another reader mentioned, I thought I was reading a script. Please show me, don’t tell. Since I am in the minority with my thoughts, I’ll tag this “it’s me, not you”.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sophie Penhaligon for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

A fairly formulaic contemporary romance, it is the second in a series. I found the first book on Kindle Unlimited and read it first, which isn't necessary, but does establish the setting for the series. Maddie and Reece were fairly likeable, although Maddie made it hard to like her at times. She had a habit of acting immaturely. All that said, I would be interested to read another series installment if they focus on the baker and the doctor as the first two books hint at.

This is the first book I read in this series and won't surely be the last as i found it very entertaining and compelling.
There's plenty of humour, a sweet romance, and a lot of funny moments featuring animals.
I loved this story.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Quick read with nice storyline and a sweet romance overall. Some meddling secondary characters aka their pets and great banter .

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

Maddie and Reece spark off each other amongst their friendship group- attraction is simmering under the surface. She loves animals and has some real characters. Dave is a grumpy llama and she has a sweary parrot. Once they are involved with helping to plan their friends wedding they start to grow closer and spend time together. It deals with family relationships and friendships and how they shape you as a person. It was nice to see them grow closer together.

This is my first time reading the work of this author and I have to say I'm impressed. The plot was beautifully done, the characters were interesting, the dialogue witty and entertaining and the pace well executed .I didn't find the secondary characters to be irrelevant to the story with the exception of the "pastor." The main characters Maddie (Chippy) and Reece complemented each other and the dynamics between the siblings and friends was engaging and laugh out loud hilarious with some scenes having me silly grinning. My only complaint, which isn't really a complaint but a wish, was that potty-mouthed Henry hadn't been given a bigger role in the book, would have loved to hear more from him. The anticipation and mystery of finding out who Scarlett gets into a serious relationship with has me on tenterhooks (I have my hunch but will wait and see).I would definitely recommend this author's work based solely on this book and plan to download book one in this series soon. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
This is the second in a series and I enjoyed it much more than the first. The banter between Maddie and Reece was so funny. It was great to see the other side characters fully involved in this book. And by side characters, I'm talking about the animals too, of course. Dave is hilarious! The author does a great job describing them and their personalities - you can absolutely picture them interacting with Maddie and Reece. Here's hoping book 3 is about Scarlett and Ryan!

I loved the concept of this book (friends to lovers, small town, great side characters) however I struggled to get into it and ultimately enjoy it as much as I expected.

The premise of two outspoken, confident characters really brought me in and I was looking forward to exploring everyone's relationships after the first couple of chapters. Some of the classic tropes were executed well (one getting sick and the other looking after them; one falling first but the other falling harder, etc) and were great additions.

However I disliked both of the characters. Maddie repeatedly gave the impression that she was "not like other girls" and the characters described her as being "downright abusive" by shouting and insulting her dates which didn't make me really warm to her. Reece appears to be thinking way too hard about trying to get her to date him and the whole miscommunication between them both wanting to date-not wanting to date got quite tiresome.

I also struggled with the writing style and some of the phrasing used - Reece "crooning" during a sex scene (made me think of Tom Jones), really telling the reader about how the person was feeling where sometimes showing them (through imagery, body language, etc) may have read better. At times I felt I was reading a script.

Overall, this was an easy beach read romance, but wasn't quite for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a lovely easy to read book. Reece and Maddie have fancied each other from afar for three years, both hiding it behind disgruntled banter, which makes for fun reading. When they are asked to work together for a wedding they decide to try an extended friend’s relationship, which whilst hidden develops quickly. Well written story with a HEA ending.

In the second book of the Angel Peaks series, sparks fly when frenemies Reece and Maddie try to work as a team to help their friends plan a wedding.
Everything about this book is captivating. This novel is impossible to put down. I downloaded the arc this morning, and by this afternoon, I had finished.

I laughed so much while reading this book. The banter between the characters and the interactions between Maddie and Reece was so funny. I loved how they made fun of each other and flirted at the same time. Their relationship moves quite fast but it's such a fun and lighthearted story it's so easy to get swept along with them.
Both Reece and Maddie were adorable. They both love animals and it was nice to see how very caring they were towards them. They also have a fun-loving and loyal bunch of friends who are a hoot.
I missed the first book in this series but I definitely want to read Sam and Kate's back story.
This was a fun and humorous romance that left me with a smile on my face.

Unpopular opinion: I like the pregnancy trope.
I think it's so emotional and just a true reflection of what life is. We plan and plan our lives, or at the very least have an idea of where we want to be in the future, but most of the time it doesn't go according to plan though the outcome can still be a good one. And that is exactly what the pregnancy trope is - life not going to plan, but it's about what that person does with it.

I have never been a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, as I do prefer reading enemies-to-lovers. However, I really enjoyed this one. I flew through it.

Reece is not a romantic but he adores Maddie so much that he becomes a hopeless romantic (just for her, though). And Maddie, that quick-tempered yet secretly soft-hearted woman, is riddled with insecurities and always comparing herself to her friends. Then Reece comes along to give her those words of affirmation that she needs, while also bringing the fight right back to her when she, inevitably, goes off on him.

Super cute fluffy romance.

I think what would have made this at least a four star read for me is if there were an epilogue. I go crazy for epilogues, and experiencing the reaction of their friends and family when Maddie and Reece spill the (little) beans (iykyk) would have been fantastic.

4.5 stars. This was such a good time! Maddie and Reece are small town residents who have had fun antagonizing each other for a few years, but when a wedding throws them together, and Reece makes a new year's resolution to finally take action, sparks fly! Their story is sweet, humorous, and spicy. I enjoyed their banter, their friend group, and Maddie's odd menagerie.

I noticed as I was reading that the text was heavily sprinkled with UK slang, phrasing, and speech patterns, even though the book is set in the Denver area and there was no mention of the characters not being American. Everything was understandable from context clues and it didn't ruin the story or anything, but it did sometimes take me out of the action.

I could also have done with less "diet talk" (Maddie spent a lot of time lamenting her body and food-policing herself, which was a bummer in an otherwise fun book) but on the whole this was a fantastic, smile-inducing pick-me-up of a book! I would definitely be interested in checking out the rest of the series.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a sweet, funny, laugh out loud, steamy romance between two people who like each other but are afraid to make the first move. This is book two of the series. Looking forward to reading more.

I thought they were cute characters but I had trouble getting invested in it. also wasn't a huge fan of the writing style. a really sweet concept and plot though, definitely a quick read if you are looking for that

This was fun! A lovely, easy to read romance book set in beautiful mountains. I hadn’t read the first book and was worried I would find it annoying having not read that, but actually it reads well as a stand alone novel in its own right.
The characters feel warm, authentic and believable and Sophie Penhaligon has a way of making you really want things to come good for the protagonists. I’ll be looking out for more in the series!

I enjoyed the premise of this book but I just don't feel the execution was done as well as it could have been. I felt that the romance was a little too rushed for me, it felt quite insta-love which isn't my sort of thing as I prefer a slow burn romance. I enjoyed Maddie and Reece's friendship, and I did like the wedding planning. I also enjoyed the side characters, particularly Scarlett, so if she has a story I will be trying it!

In terms of the characters individually, I did like Maddie. I thought she was quite sweet but also not a pushover, and I did enjoy her love for her animals. I also wasn't a fan of her actions in the latter part of the book (with the surprise plot twist - I just wasn't a fan). I thought Reece was okay, but not anything special. He just felt like any male protagonist and I didn't think there was much to him that was different to any other character, but he wasn't bad (just a little boring).

I wish the pacing was slightly different, as it felt quite rushed - especially towards the end. I think it would have benefitted from an epilogue at the end!

Overall, I did enjoy the book but it was nothing to write home about and I don't think it is something I will re-read. I do recommend though, as it is a quick read and I'm sure others will really enjoy it.

Great small town romance! This friends-to-lovers storyline is Part 2 of the Angel Peaks series by Sophie Penhaligon. Maddie and Reese are friends who always seem to annoy each other. But now they are the maid of honor and best man for their friends’ wedding and need to call a truce. It’s a fun dynamic with a great cast of other characters as well.

Will Part 3 be Scarlett and Ryan, or does the author have other characters in mind for them? Excited to find out!
