When sullen (Maddie) and a golden retriever (Reece) discover their potential in a relationship

The author used the language perfectly to make the reader experience the things that the characters feel. The dual point of view helped me get a lot of perspective regarding both of the characters and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I took an instant liking to Maddie because of her love for animals and scenes with how she interacted with her pets (DAVE WAS FANTASTIC). All her fussing and sass made her so intriguing that I wanted to know more. She did have a complicated way to react to affection, but Reece more than made up for it. He was warm, carefree and spirited. Albeit, isn't as complicated as Maddie but has a knack of living in the moment. Their relationship was perfect right from the beginning till the end of the book with amazing chemistry. Scarlett's eccentric nature easily made her stand out among her friends, and become my favourite.

The best part about the plot was how Maddie and Reece didn't just wear rose coloured glasses and changed just for each other, but how they grew together, as partners and as individuals. Apart from that, the plot was full of cute scenes that made me smile from ear to ear, excellent setting and a little straightforward storyline.

❣Friends with benefits
❣Love-hate relationship
Then read this book!!😍🥰🤭

✍This book is the second book of the Angel Perks series, I haven't read the first book though but this book can be read as a standalone and I love this book😍

✍Maddie was the only CPA in Angel Perks small town, the people of the town said she was a hotheaded tough girl and always stay away from her but she was not what people think she wanted to people this like that about her that she is tough and strong and don't want you to help.

✍ Then the entry of the veterinarian Reece, he always thought small-town people were always welcoming and quiet people but then on his first day in Angel Perks his encounter with Maddie was so memorable.🤣🤭

✍ Maddie and Reece have this love-hate relationship where they banter with each other, insult one another, and throw dirty jokes at each other but both are equally attracted to each other🤭😍🥰 but didn't know that it was mutual.💞🌸
✍ So their best friends wedding was just the corner and Maddie was the maid of honour(oopps or hot girl of Honour 🤭🔥😉) and Reece was the best man, now they have to cooperate and let go of the sass and sarcastic remarks for each other and this was so so so difficult forks I tell ya.🤣🤭
✍ so Reece thought enough is enough if he was not taking a step further in this relationship they remains friends forever so they became friends to friends with benefits 🤣🤭😉 (yeah you read correctly🤣).
And after putting some courage they finally became friends with benefit to lovers.🥰😍

I love Maddie and Reece's relationship their sarcastic remarks, fights, and witty comebacks😍❣
Reece liked to poke and made Maddie furious and he loved doing that because he thought that Maddie looks hot when she was furious, oh god I love them💞
Maddie loves animals all kinds of animals she has many pets donkey, llama ohh god that llama🤣 Reeve called it crazed llama🤣🤭

I really enjoyed this book. The banter between Reece and Maddie was great, and the romance was amazing. I do wish that the book was a little bit longer and covered more of their relationship but other than that I really enjoyed it!

In the second book of the Angel Peaks series, sparks fly when frenemies Reece and Maddie try to work as a team to help their friends plan a wedding.

I will say now that I have not read the first book in the series however it did not matter and I fully understood the story.

In this book we follow Reece and Maddie who have had a secret crush on eachother for the past 3 years as they help to organise their friends big day.

After spending time together they both realised they were in love with each other and their relationship blooms from there. But things are a little complicated as they are trying to keep it a secret from their friends.

I really enjoyed this book and reading about all the efforts Reece put in to show Maddie how much she means to him. It was the perfect little romance with a little extra sauce added in which I loved.

I will definitely be going back and reading the first book in the series. And I would love a follow on to this one to see where the group goes next!!

Maddie and Reece have been bantering and teasing eachother for three years. Naturally, they're very into each other and don't know how to move into a relationship. With their friends upcoming wedding they're going to be spending a lot of time together.

I found this to be a cute and quite realistic story. It hit those classic moments, with Maddie nursing a sick Reece, a super romantic evening organised by Reece, and Maddie showing his family how great he is.

The pacing of the relationship works - with that inital reluctance making sense as they don't want to lose their friendship. The relationship picks up speed near the end but doesn't come across too far-fetched as they have known each other for quite a while.

There were a few moments that struck the wrong chord with her being not like other women. What they also do with the chocolate sauce - do not copy!

Overall, a nice, low-stakes, and cosy romance.

This was the second book in the Angel Peaks series. The first book was good and followed along with the characters of Kate and Sam but this book follows along with the love story of their best friends Reese and Maddie. I don’t feel like you need to read the first book to totally understand this book.

I book was good. This is not a slow burn book, even though the characters have been pinning after each other for 3 years. It was a little quick for me, I think I would have loved more of their frenemy relationship, instead of jumping right in.

The friend group dynamic was awesome to me. These two especially, they really didn’t get along very well in the beginning and that was do to Maddie’s shot fire attitude and Reese’s joking demeanor. Once their friends announced their marriage they decided to put their differences aside and get along for the wedding of course. As they spent more time together their one sided feelings they had came to be mutual. There are a bunch of funny and sweet moment between the two.

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.

I want to preface by saying I don't think this is a bad book, I just couldn't get into it for the reasons below:

1. It's the second book in a series, and normally with romance books you really don't need to read them in order, so I figured it would be okay, but I definitely missed out on a lot of important backstory-- events from the first book were mentioned enough that I felt like I had to know more to go forward, but not in-depth enough to actually give me the context. That's fully on me and my assumptions-- definitely read this series in order!

2. I hated Reece's chapters. It felt like the characterization of Maddie was drastically different, especially in his first chapter, and the language used put me off from her (like that she was "completely abusive" to the guys she dates, which I think was meant to convey joking, playful interactions, but definitely did not come across that way to me). Overall the voice of his POV just didn't land for me.

3. The switch from what seemed like grudging friends to confessing feelings and being sweet with each other was abrupt enough that I couldn't quit buy it.

I think if this had been a single POV from Maddie's perspective I would have liked it more. I did love that she was an animal enthusiast and he was a vet, and I really liked their interactions with their friends-- Vets with Benefits has a great cast that interacts with each other really well. I also loved all the animals-- they were characterized really well, and were so fun to read about. If not for the reasons listed above I think I could have really liked this book.

This book is very cute! A follow up to Ugly Truths, I liked this one a lot more than book 1.

Reese and Maddie have a frenemies relationship going on, until Kate and Sam ask them to be the maid of honor and best man at their wedding. Once they have to spend more time together and be reasonably behaved, instead of cracking jokes and playing tricks on each other, they find that the one-sided attraction might actually be mutual, and being nice might actually be more fun in the long run.

Reese seems happy trying to play "house" at Maddie's out of town acreage with all of her farm animals, including the llama that doesn't like him (vet or not, he can't get along with all of the animals!), Maddie wants to sneak around and hide the relationship until after Kate and Sam's wedding, to keep the day all about the happy couple - until they can't hide things anymore.

Such a sweet story, without all of the childhood angst that is found in the first book. I definitely recommend this book for everyone, and you don't need to read the first - it does fine as a standalone, though having Kate and Sam's background doesn't hurt. No trigger warnings needed for this one. Great for everyone, but especially those that love books about weddings, animals (strange pets), hidden romances (and secrets that you would think that go along with that!), large and boisterous friend groups - you name it, you'll probably find it in this great rom-com. What you've come to expect from Sophie Penhaligon is definitely found in this great story!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, and this is my honest feedback.

3.5*

After reading the first Angel Peaks book, I couldn’t wait for Maddie and Reece’s story. They have great chemistry with fun banter. After three years of bickering, Reece finally makes his move to take their relationship to the next level. Maddie is such a sweet and caring character, even if she mouths off regularly. The way she cares for animals and Reece when he is sick is heartwarming. Reece was more romantic than I expected. He really sees Maddie for who she is and his determination to make it work with her was sweet. I loved the two of them together. The book was an easy and delightful read with low angst. Their friend group is also well written and I really hope we get Ryan and Scarlett’s story.

This is apparently book two in a series--I haven't read the first one but the cover and title caught my attention and the description fit a prompt for the romance challenge I'm doing, PLUS it was an automatic read ARC so I selected it. It was a quick read and I do think others would enjoy it as a fluffy fun read but I couldn't really enjoy it because I was picking apart the writing style and choices the entire time. That said, the chemistry and banter between small town vet Reese and his flirty angry friend Maddie was cute and fun. They decide to be friends who hook up a bit even though there are feelings on both sides (thank you dual POV for that reveal!) so it gets more complicated. Some extra fun bits: Maddie has many brothers so I assume a future book will feature at least one of them AND she lives on her own farm yard with animals, including a llama who hates Reese.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this free ARC, and my review is saved on my Instagram page in a story highlight called ARC Reviews.

Overall this was a super fun, quick and easy romance novel. I enjoyed the characters and the main plot was solely focused on the romance of the 2 mains. This is not really a slow burn as the characters have already been pining after each other for years so the plot does have a quick pace.

I really loved Maddie and Reece, I loved the witty banter and sort of love hate relationship they have. Their relationship is fun and progresses quickly.

My only drawbacks are that I didn't like one of the tropes used as I do find it's been overdone a lot. I also found the ending a little rushed and would have preferred a little more storyline to end it.

I also did not realize this was a series but I think this book is fine to read as a stand alone as the author introduces everyone again so its easy to follow.

I would recommend this book for those that love witty banter, a bit of instalove, mild spice and romance novels that just make you smile! This book was so cute and had me smiling and giggling the whole way through.

First it's important to understand that llamas are herd protectors and fierce in that role. Will even attack wolves. Then you must understand that males, like Dave, don't like other males on their territory. And our Vet should know this!
A nice romance in small town USA which, for once, is not over done and over cosy. Well written and described, with characters that seem real. Enjoyable.
I want to know the next set of romances with the 3 brothers who sound good to write about.

First of all, I would like to thank BooksGoSocial for giving me the chance to read this book before publishing day!
The first thing that caught my attention in this book was the title (everything with "with benefits" will have my attention ahahahaha) and also the description.
Also a disclaimer, before giving more details, this book is the second one in the Angel Peaks series, but you can perfectly read it as a standalone, as all the nitty-gritty from the previous book that has an impact on this one is revealed throughout the book once it makes sense and it's almost as if you've read the previous one. This is definitely a plus to make the reading of this book easier and it also made me very curious about the previous one, so now I'll have to read it as well ahahahah!
So, in this book, we have frenemies Maddie and Reece, who are, respectively, the maid of honor and the best man of the couple that got together in the first book. As they start spending more time together due to their duties for the wedding, they start realising that their love-hate relationship might be hiding some deeper feelings from both of them.
"Friends-to-Lovers" is one of my favourite tropes so this was obviously a great story to read! I really enjoyed seeing Maddie and Reece's relationship evolve and see the little things they would do to show the other they were interested. The fact that the book also has a dual POV (from both Maddie and Reece) was also great because we could understand both sides of the story and their behaviours and feelings. I also really enjoyed reading about their group of friends and their get-togethers: the six of them are all so funny and arrange the best fun nights and two of them even love to cook!! Definitely another thing that made me curious about the first books (and, hopefully, at least one more?? Can I say I ship Scarlett and Ryan?? Ahahahah).
Finally, the only thing that I disliked (and this is totally a personal preference as I've seen people saying the opposite) is that the story developed fairly fast and without that much drama. I really like to read those books where we know the main characters will end up together, but there's always that small doubt throughout the book when they break up or move cities or something similar. But again, totally a personal preference.

Welcome back to Angel Peaks, and a second gorgeous novel set in the ‘Small-Town Contemporary Romance Series.’ It’s another cracker of a novel and I loved it.
Ex model Kate McKenzie and Sam Garret (who featured in the first novel) have put aside their childhood differences and their attraction for each other is obvious to everyone. In fact they have announced that they are engaged to be married. They are the Golden Couple and cannot wait to be man and wife. Their two best friends have been selected to help with their wedding arrangements and also been given special duties for the wedding day. CAP Maddie Moreno is to be Kate’s Matron of Honour and Veterinarian Reece Mackey the best man.
The residents of Angel Peaks are buzzing with excitement, but the local news hound has been made aware of the couple’s request that their wedding is not spoilt by unwelcome media intruders. In return for his silence, he has been offered a sweetener: he can have the exclusive right to photograph the couple at the beginning of the ceremony, and then he must leave them to be. They want a small, intimate wedding with only family and friends around them. After all it is their day and everybody wants it to be a day they will love, enjoy and cherish.
Maddie and Reece have been good friends since Reece arrived in Angel Peaks three years ago. Maddie has a lovely home with land to indulge herself with her heart’s desire and now she is the proud owner of a menagerie and pet animals. Reece is her go-to vet. They banter, they argue and they laugh together. Their friendship is cemented in respect and jolly joking. Secretly they both wish their friendship would morph into a relationship, but neither of them can pluck up the courage to take that very first step. They both look forward to their friend’s wedding and the dance they will have together at the reception. Nothing can come of their secret lust for each other until after the wedding. It is their focal point. The wedding is for their friends alone and they must have a magical wedding, but then who knows what may happen?
This story was beautifully told. Author Sophie Penhaligon has a fantastic talent for this genre: she writes with a surety, conviction and confidence, including tenderness, seduction and a way of weaving two people into a magical romance full of desire, arousal and ‘as sexy as you can imagine’ bedroom details. I loved her characters, yes, all of them, but the two main characters were wonderful and convincing. Maddie was a real sweetheart even thought she could be a tad hot headed. Reece was romantic, happy go lucky and a gentleman. This novel induced tears, joy, laughter and happiness. I was totally invested in everything that was happening and kept turning the pages. I loved the themes of star-crossed lovers finding their soulmates, strong female friendships, charismatic and captivating romances, and this novel had it all in abundance. I admire this author and look forward to reading her next novel.
I received a copy of ‘Vets with Benefits’ through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher BooksGoSocial in return for an honest review. Thank you so much. I recommend this as an excellent, uncomplicated, heart-warming and very lovely read. It is a well-deserved 4.5*review from me.

Maddie fancies Reece, Reece fancies Maddie but both are not sure their feelings are reciprocated.

When they are both chosen as attendants at their friends wedding is the romance going to give them to own up to how they really feel.

A fabulous friends to lovers story, loved the characters and must say have a soft sport for Dave and Henry. A lovely gentle story, so easy to read and felt like a warm hug.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review

Very cute romance told half from Maddie’s point of view and half from Reece’s. There are funny moments and a great bunch of friends that add humour and background. Maddie is kind, entertaining and never boring and Reece is a great guy, the book drags you in and made me read it through in one go to see how Maddie and Reece leapt over the obstacles they’d pretty much put in their own way.

This is the second book in the Angel Peaks series and it was great to read a continuation of the lives of the group of friends who were introduced in the first book. This book focuses on Maddie and Reece who have know each other for a long time on a friends/frenemies level. There were so many cute and funny moments in this book and it was so refreshing to read a low angst and fun book. Lots of comic moments involving the animals and plenty of sparks flying off from the main characters. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next in the series.
