With her own scars left hidden, Detective Addison Hale has lived her life only showing those around her a positive attitude but at the same time keeping her secrets to herself and not letting anyone in. However, when the next case comes across her desk just happens to have the victim of a stalker be non other that the sister of firefighter Ryan Dempsey lines become blurry. Can she protect the sister of the man she had a one night stand with? And what happens when walls come down and emotions come into play? With edge of your seat drama and angst this was an awesome addition to the series. The reader will instantly fall in love with Addison and Ryan and truly want them to get their HEA and at the same time be scared out of their mind for Chloe. A perfect combination of love and fear.

We're back with the series with Addison and Ryan's story. It's filled with twists and turns and suspense that kept me on my toes. But what I loved the most about their story is how Ryan is with Addison even though it was awkward at first after the night they had. These two couldn't b any more different but they complement each other. I loved their story.

Really enjoyed this!
The mystery was well crafted and the characters were interesting.
I liked how the relationship developed. Addison and Dempsey had a one night stand a while ago and then Addison ghosted him. It made for an interesting dynamic for the two, especially when they attempted to deny their chemistry. It wasn’t rushed and didn’t feel insta-love.
The mystery kept me guessing until the end.
This is part of a series but I hadn’t read any of the previous books and I was okay starting with this one.
If you like romantic suspense, one night stand, second chance romance and protective hero/heroine, this is the book for you.
*Thank you to NetGalley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

The Rogue: A Fling-to-Forever Cop/Firefighter Romantic Suspense (The Intelligence Unit Book 4)

By: Kimberly Kincaid

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Absolutely intense!

In the 4th book in this series we get Detective Addison Hale and Firefighters Ryan Dempsey. With a history of a passion filed fling two months prior, what could possibly go wrong. Well famous last words.

Authors Blurb: The scars that cut deepest are the ones beneath the surface…

Detective Addison Hale is a survivor. The armor she uses to hide her scars keeps her safe on the job, and holding people at arm’s length is a small price to pay when there’s a stalker on the loose.
Especially since he’s after the sister of impulsive firefighter Ryan Dempsey, who she had a scorching-hot fling with two months ago. Well his sisters stalker for starters. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb; The fling she can’t forget, even though she knows how dangerous it is to get close. To feel.

Ryan will do anything to keep his sister safe, even if it means he has to play by Addison’s rules. But when the stalker sets his sights on the smart, sexy detective, Ryan finds he’ll do anything for her, including risk his life to fight at her side.

But this enemy is as cunning as he is deadly and he’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Addison and Ryan must outrun the shadows and outwit a killer.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

This is my first story from The Intelligence Unit series, and I'd definitely read more. As The Rogue was a super engaging enjoyable read. That blended romance and suspense really well and although I found the pacing of the suspense side a little slow the characters and the heat Addison and Ryan generated more than made up for it. And with a stalker storyline that genuinely gave me the creeps this was a book that I found very hard to put down, and one I would happily recommend, especially of you're a fan if the series.

This was my first read from Kimberly Kincaid. It follows Addison who a cop in a special intelligence unit and Ryan who is a firefighter. They are friends who have a mutual one night stand and then Addison takes off on Ryan. They are brought back together when Ryan calls about his sister being stalked and the two join forces while facing their mutual attraction and personal baggage.

I really enjoyed the suspense in this book. The chemistry is there with the characters but the suspense does steal the show. I found myself picking it up at every free moment to find out what was going to happen next. That is the sign of a good book and I am looking forward to reading more by this author. Loving the firefighter cop matchup as well!

I received an advanced reader copy to leave an honest review of this book. I have not read Kimberly Kincaid before so did not know what to expect but I really enjoyed this book. She has a good writing style that flows well and has a good storyline that keeps the reader enjoyed. It has the romance that I love in books but it wasn't overwhelming or super sappy which was nice. It has that hint of intrigue and suspense that makes it more than just a romance.

This book follows Addison, a cop in a special intelligence unit, and Ryan who is a firefighter. The two have know each other for a while as cops, paramedics and firefighter's often have overlapping calls/jobs. Then they decide to take it a step further and have your basic mutual one night stand which is all Addison will allow. However she wasn't prepared to enjoy it so much or for it to get through her walls so she ghosts Ryan, When Ryan's sister starts being stalked, Addison is called in for the case and so things rekindle. As the case gets more harrowing, Addison has to try to balance her job with her relationship and by trying to catch a bad guy. Ryan knows he needs to give her space or lose her but also wants to keep his sister safe.

Overall a great read and very enjoyable. I haven't read the other books in the series but am definitely going to check them out.

A good read for someone who's loves romance with some crime mixed in. I love a good story with guys uniform and this delivers and with a kick a** leading lady. It has you hanging on the edge of your seat waiting to see if they can catch the bad guy. Then add in the main couple falling in love. Hands down a good read 📚

'The Rogue' is actually a follow up to a very brief stint that tells of the one-nighter both Addison Hale and Ryan Dempsey had a few months ago, until she ghosted him the morning after--where their second-chance sort of comes after a Ryan's sister encounters a psychotic and very, very dangerous stalker.

The case itself is a simple but slippery one: the perp in question is slick and sly, knows the right words to say and how to shield his identity, throw the whole case of characters for a loop as they try to build a case against him. Proximity to the case and each other means that Ryan/Addison can once again get close...and see where this might lead them the second time around.

I liked Ryan and Addison as individual characters and even thought they were capable and pretty well-rounded as protagonists. Kimberly Kincaid definitely threw some role reversal into the mix here with the opposites-attracting kind of vibe: Ryan being the impulsive, emotive one, while Addison was the commitment-phobe who needed to learn to let people who cared past those walls of hers.

Yet as a pairing, I struggled to see the chemistry together or gotten the sense that they needed each other past this case, even if their relationship was certainly written as distant-friends first, then a sudden lust that turned to love which I had a little harder bit of a time believing perhaps. In fact, I kept on reading because of the suspense--while not trying to be weird about it--but the case took my interest first, followed by a relationship that I thought was lukewarm at best. It's not in any way a slight to Kincaid's writing clearly, but just wasn't feeling too much for this particular pairing.

A story that has both a detective and a firefighter. Addison a police detective likes Ryan who works at a firehouse close to her precinct. Not wanting a relationship she wants a one night with him, after they each agree, she is gone the next morning. That would be okay for her but she keeps thinking about him and then his sister becomes a victim of a stalker.
Now they are together more for Ryan wants answers as to why the man is not arrested for what he has done to his sister. The back and forth between the characters is what drives this story and with Addison trying to calm Ryan down he does let his emotions get the best of him. A very good book with some intense moments and you do get to see growth in the characters. You also get to see how the criminal works as well. Overall worth the read.

Amazing read with steam and suspense. Friends Addison and Ryan have crossed the friendship line and have to find their way back to to friendship. When a villain sets his eyes on Addision, Ryan will do anything to keep her safe. It's a thrilling ride that had me flipping page after page with twists and turns. Great balance of romance and suspense. Bring on the dirty talking firefighter and the bad ass detective!

A fantastic read, full of intrigue and suspense. Hale is dealing with her own demons and it’s great watching her open up to Ryan, she has a wonderful work family who have her back. This book has a great insight into the police procedures as well, very well written and I am looking forward to reading Liams story next.
