I really love the premise of this book -girls grandmother makes a prediction about her true love. Unfortunately this didn’t quite hit the spot for me. BUT that is not to say this won’t hit your spot. Hannah Orenstein is a talented writer. I love the way she weaved in Jewish culture and it’s place in her character’s life.

I could not get into this. Sometimes you just don’t click with the characters and this was the case here. But I’m sure some people would love them.

A lovely heart warming read. This is the first book I have read by Hannah and I certainly enjoyed it.
Thanks to the publishers Headline Eternal and NetGalley for the e-arc.

Meant to Be Mine is Hannah Orenstein’s latest release. The story follows main character Edie and her pursuit for her fates true love match. Edie’s grandmother is a prolific matchmaker. She gives a date to family members of when they’ll meet their true love and Edie has been holding out for 24th June 2022 for a long time! When she meets Theo she thinks she’s met her fated match but falling in love with your true love doesn’t seem quite as straight forward.

I could really relate to Edie. She’s ambitious, grounded and I especially related to her as she has a great best friend and sister. I loved all of the characters in this book, except one he wasn’t quite my favourite, however the others were fab.

I read this so quickly over two settings I was just completely absorbed in the story. It’s also set in New York which is one of my favourite settings!

This was the perfect pick me up after being ill and not able to read for a few days. A matchmakers prediction leads to the perfect will they won’t they romance. Hannah paints a vivid picture of New York life and if like me you follow her on Instagram you can see that she writes about the places, meals and her family life.
Highly recommend and thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

I was so excited about the premise to this, the story was an interesting concept and I was actually really excited to read this.
Unfortunately, it was a DNF from me. I just didn't get on with the writing style, the formatting wasn't great when it came through on my kindle.
However, that isn't to say others wouldn't enjoy this,

Edie's grandmother predicts the day her family will meet their match, so when Edie's 'day' arrives she is excited to see who she will meet. Will it be her soulmate?
An interesting read.

I loved the concept of this novel, a family who know the exact date that they are going to meet their one true love. Starting with her ninety-year old grandmother Gloria it encompasses aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. It even worked for their biological father who me the man of his dreams as predicted. So Edie Meyer is beyond excited on 24 June 2022 to be boarding a plane at JFK to attend her twin sister Rae's surprise engagement (to clarify, it's a surprise to Rae but not her family) - today is the day she is fated to meet 'The One', she even broke up with her long-term boyfriend Jonah because she didn't feel it was right to continue their relationship any longer with her fate beckoning.

As it happens, Edie does meet someone pretty special on her flight, a musician called Theo, but despite giving off all the right flirty signals they part without swapping numbers. But luck is clearly on Edie's side, because guess who is sitting next to her on the flight home?

As Edie and Theo date she starts to have nagging doubts, they are having fun, but are they soulmates? Does Theo 'get' her? How do their differing life goals mesh?

TBH, this didn't really work for me, I thought Edie was daft to break up with a man she was in love with, just because her grandmother predicted she would meet her 'someone' on a specific date. And then, when their differences start to emerge, she still tries to convince herself that she and Theo should stay together. And don't even get me started on the ending. Let's just say that I didn't agree with Edie's choices.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Wouldn't it be lovely if the date you were going to meet your soul mate was mapped out for you, how many unwanted dates would it save you having to go on.

QOTD Do you believe that everyone has a soul mate out there somewhere?

AOTD I knew the first day when I met my partner that he was the man I was destined to marry and I had found mine.

This was a highly enjoyable read, light, heartwarming and full of love.

I defy you not to fall in love with its characters, the cute relationship that blossoms between Edie and Theo. I loved Gloria, the family matriarch with an uncanny ability for predicting when you'll meet your soulmate.

I just wish it could have gone on for longer than it did.

Many thanks to Headline Books for my tour spot.

I really enjoyed the authors unique take on a gift where an elder is able to advise when someone will meet their perfect match. This is a perfect light and easy read however it does have some painful / sad moments which make you truly reflect.

I loved Edie and all her family and friends. One could only dream of having people so loving and caring around them. Rae and Max are adorable and very sweet, I wish we got a book on their love story as it seems very cute.

I could instantly see where the book was going as I read and tbh I was glad it turned out how I expected although it really was rushed towards the end. The last chapter was my favourite. In regards to the romance I really didn't feel any chemistry between the main characters and the development was non existent.

I didn't actually like Bennet and Kiara as a couple. I found it quite distasteful when Bennet was discussing his late brother and they turn it in playful banter because it just didn't feel right.

It was also confusing why the author kept comparing the past relationship Edie has and then making Edie upset that her past partner moved on when she too is in a relationship at the same time. Also nothing goes forward with that storyline so it really didn't add substance to the plot.

If you are looking for an easy read with some romance, lots of familial love and friendship, I would recommend this book. The publishers missed such an epic opportunity to release the book on June 24, 2022 which is the date that kicks off Edie's journey.

If you knew the day you were meant to meet 'The One' would you let fate lead? Or would you choose your own path?

Edie's day is approaching and she's looking for the one. but she needs to decide if this is what she wants.

I loved the narrative of this novel. Told through the eyes of Edie, what she experiences and what she goes through emotionally battling with herself the decisions she has made.

I found that putting this in the first person also allowed the reader to be more involved, questioning what their actions would be when put into this type of situation.

My one criticism of this book would be that I wanted more. I felt it ended too quickly. But, maybe, Orenstein does this on purpose allowing the reader to think for themselves. This is another first for me by this author and it certainly won't be my last.

What if you knew exactly when you’d meet the love of your life? In Meant To Be Mine we follow Edie who is a stylist living in New York, her grandmother Gloria has a gift for predicting when every single member of her family will meet their soulmate. So when Edie’s day comes around, she welcomes her match with open arms, but she can’t escape the niggling feeling that her “perfect guy” doesn’t have perfect timing.

I LOVED this book! It had an incredibly unique and fun premise and I absolutely fell in love with Edie’s family (so much so that I was tearing up at times, the support and love they had for each other was exactly the kind of thing you want to read about). The Jewish rep was beautiful and I loved learning about all of the traditions and food! (There’s even a recipe at the back of the book for a gorgeous sounding matzo ball soup! 😍)

All of the fashion talk against the setting of New York City gave me major “Sex in the City” vibes, so if you are looking for a cute, fluffy rom-com and love that show, definitely pick it up!

(Thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for the gifted book!)

If you have read any of her previous books you’ll know that Orenstein writes fabulous rom-coms, full of delightful characters, guaranteed to melt your heart and make you smile, and this is no exception.

Set in New York, it is the story of Edie who has a grandmother with a remarkable talent for correctly predicting the date all her family will meet “The One”. But what happens when Edie realises that the person she thought she was destined to spend the rest of her life with may not be her person?

It is a cute story and an easy read and I very much enjoyed it.

This was the first time I have read anything by Hannah and hopefully it won't be the last ! This book is a romance with a very unique twist, in that you know the date in which you are suppose to meet your soulmate.

The story follows Edie, who's grandmother (or gloria as she would be rather known) has now got to the date where she is suppose to meet the one for her and follows her journey into dating and love.

The characters are such a joy, especially Gloria who reminds me so much of my great nan that it made so easy for me to like her. I also loved reading about Edies family Jewish faith and learning so much more about the traditions and customs.

I really enjoyed Meant To Be Mine from Hannah Orenstein. It was such a fun and romantic read, with a surprisingly tender heart running through it. I loved its unique premise, where Orenstein explores the role of fate in finding our perfect matches. 4.5⭐️ rounded up to 5

Meant To Be Mine is the story of Edie Meyer, a 29 year old stylist, living in New York. Edie’s grandmother Gloria has a special intuition and has predicted the precise date that the members of her family have met their perfect match. Edie’s known her date since she was 16, and so when she finds herself, on that very day, on a flight to her sister’s secret engagement she knows she’ll meet the one. And it just so happens that a handsome musician is her seat mate.

But fate is more complicated than Edie ever expected and she can’t help but wonder if her perfect man, didn’t have perfect timing. Worse still, a shocking revelation tips Edie’s carefully constructed world on its head, leaving her to wonder if love chooses us or if it’s up to us to find it ourselves…

I really liked Edie as a leading lady and warmed to her immediately. She’s a real romantic dreamer, but also driven, loyal to her family and very funny. She believes so much in Gloria’s prophecy that she left a man she truly loved, and whilst at times this felt hard to understand, it went to prove how much faith she had in the idea of fated love. And yet when things get complicated she proves just how strong she is.

The wider cast of Meant To Be Mine are brilliant too. I loved Gloria, the family’s matriarch and Rae, Edie’s twin. The relationships they shared with Edie were really special. Likewise I really rated her best friend Shireen who helped Edie to explore what she really wanted and needed. I liked both Theo and Bennett as the leading men, but won’t say much on them so as to give nothing away! I also loved the different representations of love and what family can mean within the novel.

In her author’s note Orenstein explains how she wanted to explore the experiences and places that were so missing during the pandemic. We are treated to visits to amazing bars, restaurants, music venues and even a trip to Miami. Each of these are grounded in real venues and written in such a way that you feel you’re there with the characters - I loved it!

Overall, a brilliant rom com that I highly recommend, and what an ending!

*TW: please note this book contains references to a high school shooting two of the character’s shared pasts. It feels remiss of me not to mention this given the recent tragic events in Uvalde.

Kind of hard to rate in some ways because the concept of knowing the date you’ll meet your match is such an integral element to the book that to buck against this in anyway feels like a betrayal. The storyline though is great and a nice twist to falling in love and meeting the one.
The men that are in Edie’s love life are all left to be inconsequential and so you don’t really fall in love with any of them…. It is obvious how it will play out but these men needed some more meat to their story to get me more invested. Edie and her family though were great and made the book a fun read, more of a chick lit than romance maybe??
