A compelling story from which there is no escape, not even to sleep. A series of horrific murders carried out by a sadistic killer mimicking the most abhorrent murders in living memory. I was hooked from the start and the horror of the final conclusion is still with me.

What a great listen! If you don’t mind blood and gore this is definitely the one for you!
I absolutely loved it.
The story is gripping and fast paced with a surprising ending and even more surprising prologue!
The narrators do a great job and make for a breathtaking listen.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for letting me listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a debut, absolute cracker of a book. With an ending I did not expect on par with Chris Carter and Jeffery Dealer. The narration was excellent my only gripe was Leighton could have been used more for male parts although Leslie did an excellent job.
I received this audiobook from Harper Collins Audio via Netgalley for a review

Narrator 5 stars

Story 3 stars

The premise of this book sounded amazing and I was hoping for an edge of the seat read, but unfortunately there was something missing that stopped that from happening. However in saying that I would definitely try this author again and I would also recommend this book.

An amazing thriller, even when I thought I had it I didn't. So we'll written and narrated the audiobook had me engrossed from the beginning. The whole way through I had my suspect list which was getting shorter and my theories were getting crazier but I would never have guessed it. The writing is well paced and the characters are relatable even if Jessica is annoying. Cara the lead detective is a typical portrayal of a female detective that you see in programs and books, trying to have it all but police work takes over, this I found a little cliche but it's the only thing about the book that was a little annoying. A fantastic thriller, makes me want to read another one.
TW: murder, rape, gore, mental illness, child abuse, graphic descriptions of murder.

Hands down my favourite book so far this year. What a debut thriller from Sam Holland. This has everything you ever want from a thriller; suspense, twists, turns and a gripping storyline. I’ve already recommended this books twice in the days I was reading it and I will be to everyone I speak to. Pick this one up if you want a thriller with some basis in real life.
Audio narration was also spot on, keeping it entertaining throughout.

This audio book was dark and distributing yet addictive and enthralling. I couldn’t wait to hear what was going to happen next, I was compelled by all the twist and turns. This is a thrill of a ride although not for the faint hearted,
Would recommend if you like dark thrillers. Lots to try and work out and keeps you guessing till the very end!

We all know at least one person obsessed with serial killers (I know several but then I do work in customer services). But imagine if one of them decided to make it their life's work to design a tribute of sorts to them? But not for this person podcasts or ropey Netflix documentaries. No. Instead, over time they commit their own murders. Lots of them. Each one a copycat of a notorious killers crime. Hmm...Jackie in accounts doesn't seem so harmless now does she?

But this exactly what faces DCI Cara Elliott and DS Noah Deakin (the serial killer, not Jackie). Bodies are stacking up and its taken an outsider to spot the link. The killer is always one step ahead. With the not always helpful assistance of Nate Griffin, a disgraced fellow detective and Cass's brother they strive to stop The Echo Man before he kills again. But he's no where near finished yet.

Well positives first. Once this book gets it claws into you it ain't letting go. It took me late into the night a few times. The characters are relatable if not that likeable. If you like a high body count you will love this. There's absolutely loads going on.

Negatives? There's possibly a bit too much going on. I usually have no problems keeping track of characters but I found myself forgetting who Cass was married to so when his name was mentioned and her kids I was stumped for a moment. Also (and this may just be me) but Nate and Noah are just too similar in name. A few times I got them mixed up. Then I realised I was stupid. Also it's far too obvious what's going on. A humongous clue was dropped in about half way - I like the clues but not one that are like been slapped with a wet fish!

However this is just too good to dislike for those minor reasons. This is a great story well executed (no pun intended...that's a lie) by a new writer with great promise. However if you're bothered by gore and gruesome details you should know better than to read a serial killer story. I have no sympathy.

The narration of this is top notch. It's fair to say the industry has really upped its game with the quality of narrators but these two are exceptional. Leighton Pugh is always fantastic but somehow Sarah Lambie has passed me by, something I'll have to rectify soon.

An easy 4 stars, would have been 5 except for the clues making this too predictable.

WoW! The Echo Man by Sam Holland was just.......I'm lost for words!!! One of the best books I have read in a long time! It was a superb read from the beginning till the end and I loved it. The Echo man has brilliant twists and turns throughout and was so cleverly written..........it had me on the edge of my seat and up all night. Glad I did not have any plans the next day. So be warned...........Once you open you kindle and start you will not be able to put it down!

The audio book was excellent as well with the Narrators: Sarah Lambie, and Leighton Pugh were excellent together, they gave a great feeling from the book from the very beginning. You will not be "Bored" with this book! You will be gripped!!!!

I highly recommend this book as well as the audiobook - Just superb! I loved it.

Big Thank you to Harper Collins Uk, Harpers Audio UK and NetGalley for my advanced copy to read.

The Echo Man is a gruesome, action packed thriller about a serial killer who is copying the crimes of some of the world's most notorious serial killers. Jess, a survivor of one of the crimes, and Griffin, a Police detective who is suspended and disgraced, find themselves working together to try to find out who the killer is.
I loved the way the story included perspectives from both those characters, another Police Detective plus the serial killer themselves. It was fascinating to see how all the events tied together and how the main characters put all the pieces together to discover the identity of the killer. As the body count rapidly increased I could feel the desperation of the characters and their need to find the killer. There were many red herrings and misdirections which led me to suspect a large number of people until towards the very end. I also really enjoyed trying to work out which serial killer the Echo Man was emulating with each case. The level of detail in each one was brilliant and it's clear the author did some great research.
I listened to the audiobook of The Echo Man and think the narrators did a really good job at keeping me engaged and representing the characters in a believable and interesting way.

This book was absolutely brutal. Some of the worst depictions of gore I've ever listened to/read so please look up trigger warnings before going into it.

The premise of this book was brilliant and the way that the storyline escalated was gripping and unputdownable. The body count spiralled upwards to unbelievable highs by the half way point but it was explained very well why the crimes had not been connected.

The identity of the killer was cleverly hidden behind red herrings and misdirection and while the revealed person was in my top 3 it was not for the reason I was expecting.

I think possibly the book would have stood better without the additional twist of the epilogue but can see how that twist fed in well with the overarching feel of the narrative.

This was a brilliant novel and I'll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

If you don't like blood & guts then don't read it. Very graphic story of a serial killer and police investigation. The central characters are connected through their work and although some parts are totally unbelievable, as the plot unfolds I could see the connection. Still don't understand how a mother could lave her child in hospital and almost gave up the book because of it. Got through all the horror and reliving of some very violent crimes which is not my style of reading at all. Unique plot. Thank you #NetGalley fro the audiobook to review.

This is the debut novel from Sam Holland and what a start. I’m already stalking him to see when the second book will arrive.
Jess Ambrose goes to bed one night and her life turns on its head. Waking in darkness to the smell of smoke she finds her child and jumps to safety. Her husband died in the fire that has been ruled as arson and she is the prime suspect. DCI Cara Elliott and DS Noah Deakin investigating a series of seemingly unrelated murders are a likeable duo, with Cara’s brother Nate who is also a detective weighing in. This book has so many moving parts so many twists and turns that I was spinning.
With a serial killer that copies the most gruesome serial killers but going further than they did without getting caught Nate, Cara and Noah struggle to put all the pieces together. The Narrators of this book did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed listening to this.
The ending though……I can’t even…..book 2 better come soon. 5 star read which cannot be missed

First of all I'd like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the audibook in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know where to start with this book. Is absolutely incredible. I absolutely love dark, twisted, gruesome thrillers which keep you on your toes and this does that and more. The twists just kept on coming and I was literally on the edge of my seat for the last 1.5hours of this audiobook. Everytime I thought I knew what was happening another twist was thrown in.

It will be so hard to find a thriller that tops this! This deserves all the stars and I can't wait for more by Sam Holland!

Wow, this book was such a ride! So dark and full of gore! I found bits at the beginning a bit confusing, some of the characters seemed to merge like Cara and Jess. I thought it was Cara that slept with the guy in the toilet so was so confused towards the end when they said it was Jess. All in all it was a really good read, i liked the twists and the copycat elements. I think this author could possibly be the next big thriller writer for sure!

This was definitely not for the faint hearted so really dont want to say much due to the risk of spoilers. There are also so many triggers in it. So if you go into it on aware of that basis you will enjoy it, the narrator adds such a unique element to it. So all in all very enjoyable.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is all my own. Will definitely read/listen to more by this author

I had the pleasure of reading this and loving it and now listening to it!
Detective Cara Elliott and her partner Noah Deakins have been working a brutal murder case and soon there are more murders but each one different and violently brutal. A house fire has left Jessica Ambrose on the run and she is being begrudgingly helped by Detective Nate Griffin. How is Jessica involved.
Oh my god I need to take a massive breathe after reading and then for a second time listening to this. It’s suspenseful, sooooo gripping and a massive 10/10 on the gore and blood ratings! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this audiobookin exchange for my honest review.

Initially there are a lot of unseemingly unconnected events and characters, but the story is compelling, the events and characters come together and once I started I could not stop until the very end. This is a well written, fast paced, riveting story about a copycat of prolific serial killers, which has lots of tension and twists and even a little romance thread which is nice. In addition, there is violence and very explicit content verging on horror at the very end; which was unsettling and certainly not for the faint hearted. Pretty much the whole book is fantastic, but then the final reveal goes way beyond jaw dropping surprise and does actually beggar belief; however, the journey there is completely engrossing, so well worth suspending belief. Many thanks to NetGallery and HarperCollins UK Audio - it was a totally absorbing read - 5 stars if the reveal(s) had been more believable.
