A very strange read but none the less engaging. I will definitely be ordering the first volume for my store once it is available. I loved the humour and it kind of gave me Attack on Titan vibes, which I think the readership in my store will enjoy.

It was fun. One dimensional, repetitive, somewhere past stupid, but watching a rooster murder demons is a strange delight.

First thanks to Viz for providing access to this.

Going into this, the title and cover are what drew me in. After reading this, I did not expect to be so blown away by what I just read and experienced. Everything from the really detailed art, to the amazing action, I cant wait for it to release so I can shout from the internet rooftops that people need to check this out! This was a much needed fun, jaw dropping first volume. I definitely enjoyed the unexpected laughs it brought.

Yes, I am giving five stars to this title. One, the premise. A rooster? Fighting demons? Sure, I'll read that.. Another is for the fact that said rooster has the personality of a typical wandering-hero, and it a) works b) is hilarious. The detailed art is really nice and goes well with the cool action scenes! Basically, I was expecting a joke premise, I did get the joke, but I also got the SHEER COMMITMENT to said premise, and so much enjoyment out of the ride.. Well played, Rooster Fighter volume 1, well played.

This is the most absurd manga I've read in a long time. Maybe ever.

And then to realize each chapter is connected to a Japanese proverb? Genius.

Note: If you ever read Chew and wanted more of Poyo, then read this.

THIS. BOOK. IS. AMAZING.

First off, the art! The facial expressions are just wonderful. They are very humanly emotional and expressive while seamlessly blending with animal anatomy. The action scenes are illustrated FANTASTICALLY! You can just feel the energy! I really like the way the illustrator plays with light in this book by making more intense moments very dark and oppressive.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the story. The parody aspect of it worked really well. I could not stop laughing while reading it. I also appreciated how well the sadder moments worked with more comedic scenes. The rooster is a really fun main character. He’s modeled after the stereotypical action hero, but I appreciate the hints of there being more to his character.

The book drops some tantalizing hints about where the demons came from and how the rooster gained his abilities. The information is not completely revealed, but I am totally hyped for that second volume.
