I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting book about finding your own path, when others expect something completely different for your life. Elodie escapes her media, rich family business to follow her dreams of being a librarian, so when she spots a piece in the newspaper about a town library facing closure unless it’s fortunes can be turned around, she jumps at the chance. Along the way she meets some of the town’s residents including Finn, the handsome local newspaper reporter; Alfie, an autistic boy struggling to find friends; Maisie, the moody librarian; Harry, a homeless man who sleeps outside the library; Teddy, her brother who is left holding the reins of the family business; Sofia, who has been unfairly tarred by the locals following her husbands betrayal; and Pete, who everyone assumes is a ‘bad apple’. But will Elodie manage to save the library, bring back a sense of community and make some lifelong friendships? Gorgeous and feel good story!

I just love her writing style. Simple yet meaningful.

The characters are all so personable. No cast member is left without details about who they are. I definitely have a soft spot for Alfie.

Of course the added romantic side helps. Everyone loves a book boyfriend.

But the story itself is just wonderful.

Heartfelt.

And obviously this was made better with the library being made centre stage with all the bookish references. A little nod to Matt Haig (another fantastic author).

Everyone/thing deserves a second chance. Referring to both the library and it's members new and old.

This is story that definitely makes the phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover' really meaningful.

A tale to make you think, to make you re-assess, to make you learn.

Elodie's Library of Second Chances is hope and joy combined.

This is the first novel of Rebecca Raisin that I read. This book was inspiring, heartwarming and adorable! I loved the ambiance of the small community and the library. It made me want to join! I enjoyed the characters too, especially Alfie. He made me laugh! The cover of the book is so beautiful. Wonderful read about second chances and friendship!
