Nicole and Ethan had a good life, not short of money and Nicole was proud of her husband even though he was rarely on time for appointments and never around to help with the children or keep dinner dates with her parents.
All was good until Ethan went on a trip with his partner a pilot the plane crashed and they were both killed.
How do you tell your children your daddy has been killed. Only the pilots body was found, a funeral went ahead for him but Ethan’s body was not found.
The day before the memorial service for Ethan he rang said he was alive and Nicole should not tell, anyone he was still, alive he had got mixed up with bad people and was scared.
What had he got involved in and was the family safe.
This was an ok story.
Thanks net galley for giving me this book to read but do not rate it very much.

I have had a bit of a book hangover since I finished reading this one. I am a fan of Jane Isaac’s series and her previous standalone book so was keen to read this latest one. It opens with an attention grabbing prologue then skips back a month to fill in what lead to that point. The relationship between the main characters Nicole and Ania strengthens as the book progresses and I grew to like them both. As a reader I’m always expecting the unexpected and that was definitely the case here. A thoroughly engaging read with a cracker of an ending.

Sometimes your enemies are closer than you think…

Nicole Jameson and her husband Ethan have it all, a happy marriage and two young children, Ethan has made a successful career in finance at Harrison Dunbar Associates and the Harrison's treat their employees like family, even going as far as loaning Conrad, the company chauffeur, money to fund his dream of becoming a pilot. Whilst returning from a business trip, the plane that Conrad is flying, with Ethan on board, crashes into the sea, only Conrad's body is recovered, Ethan is missing presumed dead. Nicole and Ania, Conrad's wife, are heartbroken but when they start to ask questions as to how it happened, they get more than they bargained for. Was it just a tragic accident or something far more sinister?

One Fatal Secret hits the ground running with an intriguing prologue, which had me hooked from the first page, the author then keeps that intrigue steadily bubbling away throughout the book with lots of twists and a few curveballs to keep the reader guessing. There are some very shady characters within these pages, not least of all the ones that Nicole was sure she could always trust, which is why she originally questions Ania's theory of foul play, but the more they delve into what happened, the more she thinks Ania may have a point. This is a well written story with short chapters, which I love and an ending of just desserts. This is the second standalone thriller by Isaac and I have to say it was an absolute belter, keep them coming Jane!

I'd like to thank Canelo and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

I’d like to thank Canelo and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘One Fatal Secret’ by Jane Isaac in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Nicole Jameson is celebrating her father’s birthday with a barbecue and as they wait for her husband Ethan’s return from his business appointment in Nante she learns that the private jet he was returning in has crashed. The body of the pilot Conrad has been found but they’re still searching for Ethan. Nicole and Conrad’s wife Ania are gradually coming to terms with the disaster but they’re anxious as strange men are following them and it soon appears that there’s more to this accident than they originally thought.

‘One Fatal Secret’ is a cleverly written thriller encompassing secrets and intrigue, as lie upon lie is discovered by the two wives who’re trying to get to the truth but encounter danger lurking round every corner. It’s slightly far-fetched at times but it’s so full of suspense and twists and turns, with a red herring or two thrown into the mix, that it’s kept me engrossed throughout. As the story progresses I’ve tried to guess how it would end but there’s no way I could have anticipated the extraordinary conclusion that took me by completely by surprise. This is an enjoyable action-packed thriller that I can recommend.

Two young couples working for a high power finance company. Ethan is the finance whizz and Conrad the company pilot. They fly to the south of France to seal a deal. An accident during the return flight leaves Ania a widow and Nicole in limbo because nothing is found of Ethan. Nothing is a straightforward as it seems, the two women are followed by various disturbing characters, the police seem not that interested and the company overly fussing. The story plods along with these various strands until very near the end when the unexpected denouement bursts forth and the story ends. 3.5* rounded up to 4 because the writing and descriptions were good. Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

One Fatal Secret is a real page-turner from the moment a company plane vanishes with its pilot and passenger on board. Two wives, Nicole and Ania, are left behind wondering what caused the plane to crash and why one of the bodies remains undiscovered. Who can they trust as they try to find the truth? Certainly the ending came as a surprise! I am sure Jane Isaac's fans will enjoy One Fatal Secret as much as I did. Many thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A really fast paced thriller that is a real page turner as long as you suspend reality. I enjoyed the novel and couldn’t wait to see what happened at the end. Neither main female lead were that likeable to be honest but the book held my attention throughout and I would recommend if you like a light thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy of the novel.

After their husbands‘ company‘s plane crashed into the sea, the two bereaved spouses start asking questions about the very dubious circumstances of the incident. In spite of their initial antipathy for each other the women eventually rub along and discover what led to their life-changeing situation. I found this book rather hard going, did not like any of the characters but the plot had just enough twists to keep me reading to the extraordinary ending. I was kindly allowed to read an ARC in return for my honest opinion.

I loved this book. A fast paced thriller keeps you on the edge the whole time you’re reading it. Great characters and a great plot, and the chapters were quick to read, which I always appreciate.

3.5 stars

Nicole's world comes to a halt when her husbands boss turn up at her door to say that the company plane with just her husband and the pilot on, has gone missing. But the search and events that follow are unsettling and leave both Nicole and the wife of the pilot questioning everything, particularly who, if anyone, they can trust.

Lots of twists and turns in this fast-paced thriller, with short snappy chapters it was easy to keep reading. I found both main characters hard to like at first, but they did both grow on me eventually! I am still not sure on my feelings about the ending, but I think it is a bit of a thinker!

3.5 stars rounded up

Nicole Jamieson has always been proud of her husband Ethan. He's built a successful career in finance, and his employers, the Harrison's. treat them like family. They're a firm that look after their own, and even gave a loan to the company chauffeur, Conrad, to fund his pilot licence. When the two men are returning from a business trip, the worst possible thing happens - their plane crashes into the sea. No survivors are expected to be found. Nicole is heartbroken, much like Conrad's wife, Ania. She never warmed to Nicole, but now they shared a bond in grief. But evidence is found that Conrad took drugs shortly before the plane departed., with him at the controls.

I was quickly pulled into this story that's filled with red herrings and twists. The pace is steady from the beginning and the tension builds throughout. It will also mess with your emotions. Nicole and Ania form a bond over their grief. They have their suspicions and start to do some investigating of their own. I really liked the conclusion to this story, but it was just lacking something more gritty.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Canelo and the author #JaneIsaac for my ARC of #OneFatalSecret in exchange for an honest review.

As One Fatal Secret begins, Nicole Jameson waits for her husband Ethan to return home for a birthday celebration. Instead, the police notify her that Ethan is dead, killed in a plane crash that also cost the life of Conrad, the pilot of the private plane. Nicole and Conrad’s wife Ania have never been friends but now they join together to try to understand what happened. Why hasn’t Ethan’s body been found? Why did Conrad, always a conscientious pilot, have drugs in his system? And who is the strange man lurking near their homes?

I loved the premise of One Fatal Secret but the actual plot not that much. I’m a Jane Isaac fan but I lost interest in the middle of the book. The action really picked up at the conclusion. I think better editing to keep the plot fast paced would help. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Canelo and Jane Isaac for this ARC.

A financial meeting in France ends in a plane crash, a dead pilot and a missing passenger. The widow of the pilot Ania suspects foul play within the company but nobody believes her, Nicole, the passengers wife,is not sure what to believe. She has her own worries with her husband Ethan missing and a sick father.
This was a great read, full of twists and red herrings, who do you trust or believe? And why is Ethans boss always creeping about. Each chapter ends with you having to read more to find out what happens next
