Unfortunately I will be unable to give feedback on this book. I requested this book and had intentions of reading it. However my taste in books has changed and I do not feel that a review from me would do the book justice

I've finally finished this series and just wow. The whole book was such a perfect ending to a brilliant trilogy, full of action, tension and a few twists. Loved every moment of it and I'm gutted it's over now. Will definitely be a series that stays with me

A phenomenal ending to a stellar series. If you enjoyed the previous books, this is a no-brainer. I especially liked the development of the characters and their relationships growing and changing.

An exciting finale

"The Blood Traitor" is the third and final book in Lynette Noni's Prison Healer trilogy. After the end of the second book, I couldn't wait to read more. The story was suspenseful and full of surprises and intrigue. I couldn't tear myself away from the pages! Not only has the story continued to evolve and become more exciting, but so have the characters. Kiva had to learn to be strong since she was a child, but she learned what true strength is over time with Jaren. And I could only admire how she kept fighting. That and her good nature. You just have to love Jaren. As the crown prince, he is very close to his people and he fights to the bitter end. But little Tipp is my absolute favorite our group of friends! Because when the others despair or stop fighting, it's Tipp that reminds them who they're fighting for. All in all, "The Blood Traitor" was a fantastic story that I would recommend to anyone. 5 out of 5 stars.

ARC provided in exchange of an honest review.

I think most readers will be satisfied with this conclusion as it wraps up most of the plot points and delivers a sense of closure. Jaren angered me a bit too much though and that lessened my enjoyment.

What an incredible end to this series! I couldn't put the book down but at the same time I was also desperate for it to never end. There's action, romance, danger, and such amazing world building. It's so hard to review a book that's the last in the series without spoiling the other books but let me just say, there were twists that even after reading the first two I couldn't have anticipated. The characters and their world continued to grow, the high standards were not dropped by the author until the very last word.
Absolute perfection!

This was definietly one of my favorite books of 2022, I am SO sad this was the end, but what a story it has been. I will wait for all of Noni's next books, because if they're all a fraction of good as this one was, I'm gonna be first in line to get them!

The first in the series was by far my favourite, but they all had such good points. I have to admit that this one was my least favourite, just because of how much I HATE miscommunication as a trope, but the amount of twists was so good. I feel like Kiva was so surface level in this book though :( We got a lot of show not tell, and she seemed to get over things very quickly. And the whole shit with Jaren, while yes I still love them together and was happy for them, it got old sooooo fast.

This was just the perfect ending to a perfect trilogy.

I love these characters and I love this world.i love Lynette Noni's writing and her world-building is just incredible. At one point I got visible shivers! It was just perfect and made me feel so happy.

I'm lost for words and I know that this review doesn't make any sense but I just loved it so much.

If you've been considering this series then take this as your sign to pick it up right now.

The Blood Traitor is the final book in the Prison Healer Trilogy, but I was left feeling disappointed after reading this. I gave the first book in the series 5 stars, but in my opinion, it all went a bit downhill from there. There were a few things I enjoyed about this book, and I am glad I stuck with it to see how things resolved, but at the same time, there were some big problems as well.

Starting with the good things about this book, I really grew attached to the side characters, especially Tipp and Caldon who were already firm favourites, but Cresta was soon added to that mix too. The side characters are also a diverse group with bisexual, asexual and lesbian characters, one character has a stutter and one of the main side characters is an amputee as well, plus this series does tackle some heavy themes like addiction and abuse. Noni manages to include all of this in a way that’s both genuine and respectful, and because of the way Noni does deal with the dark aspects of this series, I really enjoyed the start of the book. It reminded me of the original Prison Healer novel with the gritty, dark, survival narrative that was so well crafted in book one. And alongside that, I found the resolution to the series very satisfying, so I am glad I stuck with this book to the end.

However, there were a lot of things that troubled me in this book too. I really felt that Noni did Kiva an injustice. It’s refreshing having a main character who chooses to heal rather than harm, and I liked her a lot in book one. But although she doesn’t choose to be a fighter, that doesn’t mean she can’t be strong in other ways, yet Kiva came across as weak, naive and a little bit foolish. She doesn’t listen to anyone, and she rarely questions what she’s told. To add to this, Kiva had barely any agency in her own story, the side characters did most of the work, they fought, they solved the mysteries and they were the ones to save Kiva from a lot of the situations they found themselves in. Which was really frustrating, I could count on my hand the number of times Kiva made a decision for herself.

This book also felt rushed. The twists gave me whiplash, it was like reading the script for an episode of Eastenders. They all come one after another in the last 15% of the book, and some of the twists felt like they’d just been placed there for convenience. The plot was a little all over the place as well. This book contained a quest, which is something I would normally love. But without sharing any spoilers, the quest ended up irrelevant to the overall arc of the story, yet it took up more than half of the book!

I generally feel like this series had so much potential, the revenge plot and gritty narrative in book one could have pulled us so far. But the execution of books two and three really pulled the series down. The fact I cared so much for the side character’s wellbeing did help me get to the end of the series despite its flaws, but at the same time, the problems I had with this book were hard to ignore and they really hampered my enjoyment of it.

All-in-all it was just a bit disappointing.

What an emotional roller coaster reading this book was!

It’s action packed, full of nail biting scenes, heart stopping emotions and tear jerking moments.
It’s been along time since a book made me tear up and I did just that in a couple of the scenes.

Kiva is such a beautiful and caring main character, it’s refreshing reading a main character who is not just a badass with a sassy attitude (which I love by the way) but it’s nice that a heroine can be strong and powerful and kind, caring with a sweet nature at the same time.

Not only Kiva but all the characters are special. I love this found family and I adore Caldon, he is one of my favourite characters and I wish we could read more about him….hint hint Lynette 😉

This trilogy is simply amazing and so worth the read! I highly HIGHLY recommend it.

A very disappointing 2 Stars

I cannot tell you how sad I am about this rating. Like I am legit devastated that I didn't like the final instalment, but I'm glad I've finally read it. I want to start off by saying that I went into this with extremely high expectations. I really enjoyed Prison Healer and absolutely ADORED The Gilded Cage but this just felt off for me.

My issues are that it was just full of so many cliches that you find in Young Adult books, I've drifted away from YA quite recently, however I didn't expect it from this series if that makes any sense? I think something that annoys me is lack of communication and this is so poignant in this book between the characters and there's so much ANGST that felt unnecessary.

What I loved about Gilded Cage WAS the relationships, and I just think we missed these so much in this one and for me characters are always my favourite thing about a book (well in 95% of cases). Parts of the "final showdown" happened to quickly, the build up felt so slow and wasn't needed.

Overall I'm glad so many people enjoyed this, but sadly it wasn't for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the early access!

I loved this series, and this was a great ending to it. We see more of the other kingdoms, and the world evolved beautifully.

Cresta plays a big part in this book, alongside some new characters, and Jaren and Kiva's relationship evolves and blossoms.

Great ending to the series.

The Blood Traitor is the last book in the Prison Healer series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed this whole series actually it was a very solid and not what expected. So the last we heard Kiva had been betrayed, drugged chucked in a cart and sent all the way back prison to face life and probably death down the mines. Which some might say she deserved for she was also double dealing but surely someone loves her enough to get her out and considering there’s a whole book to get through I’d say it pretty likely. Kiva however has to decide what side she’s on and if her heart matches her head. Anyway its all good dramatic stuff. I like Kiva who isn’t perfect sometimes gets it very wrong indeed and does her best to make amends. I also love how Noni wryly acknowledges how perfect her prince is and still we can’t help but love him. Her side characters are great and wanted the best for every single one of them and their complicated conflicted little souls. A really excellent and satisfying end to a throughly enjoyable series.

What I can say about the conclusion to the Prison Healer series by Lynette Noni is that The Blood Traitor seemed faster paced than the second book in the series. But that could be my personal feeling because in here we get actual moving about instead of only throwing the same thoughts in Kivas head around and running in circles.

The general storyline in this book follows the traditional quest hunt for items to take down the big bad villain in the end. We meet a lot of new characters from different kingdoms and most of them fall flat on their noses, even the ones who become part of the crew around Kiva and Jaren. The only one who truly stands out and gets some kind of personality is Cresta, and I love her for that. Everyone else lacks depth and character development, sadly. Some of the newly introduced characters could have been cut from the book and you wouldn't notice at all. There is still Cal, but he is treated poorly in this one, especially after all the possible-relationship-on-the-horizon-hinting Noni did in the previous book.

That Kiva went through a lot is quite clear. Her childhood and life so far was quite the low blow. We get it. But Noni slaps it in our face every other page how much we, as the readers, and the other characters should pity Kiva for what she has been through. It was a bit too much and didn't give Kiva the room and space to develop a more fleshed out personality.

I would have loved more character depth and development. The other cities and kingdoms visited were interesting enough to spent more time in. For a moment, I wished the quest plot storyline would have already started in the second book.

The ending felt really rushed. There was a lot happening but despite it all, Zuleeka as the obvious villain remained pretty flat and very much like your stereotype of big badie. There was so much potential and it went straight into thin air.

All in all, the conclusion was nice enough and an okay read, but did not blow me away at all.

This book brings to a close The Prison Healer series. I feel like there was a bit of buzz around it but it's died down a little now.

The previous book ends on a cliffhanger and I was pleased that the action of this novel moves on from this relatively quickly.

We see a vastly expanded world in this book but with so many new locations it's hard to hold on to any of the descriptions about them - this isn't necessarily a fault but is just to say that because we cover so much ground in this book alone we don't really get a proper feel for the different places apart from initial descriptions of places.

This book is also packed with a lot - we've got gladiator-esque battles, a quest, betrayals, hidden identities ... I did have a lot of questions - like did the author have this all planned from book one? Some of the resolution feels more ad-hoc than in really specifically plotted books where every detail goes somewhere. But there were also some nice payoffs along the way too. Although this doesn't have the intricate world building and logic that some of my favourite books do, and there continues to be so many 'flashes of hurt' or 'flashes of longing' in people's eyes etc I did find myself invested in how it would all turn out.

Not really sure how to rate this, 3.5 rounded up is probably a fair rating.

My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

So good, why doesnt everyone know about Lynette Noni?! She deserves to be up there with Bardugo and Maas. I can't wait to read what she writes next.

I read this series embarrassingly quickly... maybe at times when I should have been working or doing my assignments (shush.. don't tell anyone!!).

Such a rich fantasy world, with complex and interesting storylines and characters to route for! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
