As one of my favourite authors and series, my expectations are always high and they keep being met!
It was great to return back to Eddie Flynn and his team as they try and solve the Sandman case. And like Cavanagh always does, not everything is as it seems. The twists are built in seamlessly and it was a fantastic read.

I’m a big fan of the Eddie Flynn series and was so pleased to receive an advance copy of the latest novel. Thanks to Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for this.

The FBI are hunting a serial killer known as ‘The Sandman’. The suspect has been on the run for a year, and is now taunting them. Carrie, the wife of the suspect, is going on trial as an accomplice in the murder. Eddie Flynn and his team are defending her.

I got into this story straight away and found it very difficult to put down!

I really love Eddie’s character. His team are great and the characters well developed. They bounce off each other and each brings something different to the table.
The Sandman is such a chilling character and so well drawn.

The stakes are high as one of Eddie’s team is kidnapped by The Sandman. If Carrie is convicted, The Sandman will kill again.

I found the last quarter particularly tense and thrilling, there were a lot of twists and turns. I couldn’t read fast enough!

Near the end I thought I had it all worked out, but the rug was pulled from under me with another twist! The ending was clever and well done, it didn’t fall flat at all.

This is another great instalment in the Eddie Flynn series. It’s such a page turner and I would definitely recommend it, along with the other books in the series.
I’m already excited for the next novel!

The Accomplice is book 7 in the wonderful Eddie Flynn series and whilst these book can definitely be read in any order, I would strongly recommend that if you haven’t met Eddie yet to start with Book 1 – The Defence and read the entire series as it was written.

I read The Accomplice in a day and literally didn’t put it down from the opening chapter to the final words and this seems to only happen when I read books in this series.

Firstly, I adore Eddie and have followed his career since 2015 when Mr Cavanagh sent me a signed copy of The Defence and my husband (who doesn’t read EVER) saw the cover and actually wanted to read the book himself.

Each book, in my opinion, gets better and better and The Accomplice doesn’t disappoint. There is a nasty serial killer on the loose, the police know who he is but he has disappeared leaving his wife Carrie in the frame. Now she’s about to face a jury for being his accomplice and Eddie takes on her case to prove her innocence.

As fans of this series would expect, Eddie is faced with a difficult case and with his trusted friends and colleagues around him, this one appears to be the most complex of all time. Full of twists and horrific killings, this is yet another brilliant legal thriller guaranteed to keep readers hooked and shocked and fans delighted.

This is book 7 of this series and, even though I do keep banging on about this, start from book and and read in order. Yes for all thing backstory and character development but also, in this case, cos they are all bangingly cracking books. Do yourself a favour...
So, in this book Eddie Flynn and his team are drafted in to defend Carrie Miller. Wife of The Sandman, a prolific serial killer who, once his identity was found, went on the run and is still currently in the wind. Her previous lawyer was only up for plea bargain and making a deal and so they need a trial lawyer, and no one is better than Eddie (and you'd know that if you have read the previous books).
And so begins the best cat and mouse game as Carrie disappears just before the trial begins meaning that half the resources are needed to track her down, thinning the trial team down somewhat. The one of them is taken... it appears that The Sandman is back, and he wants to protect his wife...
And that's all I am saying. Go in as blind as you can. Savour every twist and turn along the way, Gasp at the shenanigans that ensue. Worry for those in peril. Trust in Eddie...
I love Eddie as a character. He has been burned in the past and that has really changed and shaped the man he has become. He has a wealth of knowledge and contacts and uses all to his advantage. He really is the real deal. But there's an underlying sadness about him which also makes him vulnerable. And that only makes him more endearing... He has a good team about him too. All playing their parts to perfection.
And the story this time is an absolute doozy. Although I did guess something a bit early that in no way impacted my enjoyment of the book as a whole. Indeed, Mr Cavanagh has pulled the wool over my eyes enough in the past, I really wasn't sure of my guess in the first place. He also delivered more than just that one surprise so the overall shock level at the end remained high.
In fact, the only bad thing about the book was getting to the end and having to say goodbye to the characters once again. Fingers crossed they will all be back soon enough... My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Huge thanks to Orion for my ARC approval- on my birthday no less! I was squealing and jumping up and down on the hotel bed when I got the email!
Eddie Flynn is back! And he's back with a bang!
A spectacular read as always, Steve Cavanagh really can do no wrong in my eyes!
I am a huge legal thriller fan, and I also think I have rather high standards- so to succeed in this genre is quite something.
I have been telling all my thriller fans to put Cavanagh n their TBRs- he will never let you down if you're looking for a suspense-filled, thrilling read that you are OBSESSED with for the time you are reading it, and the months after finishing (until the next book comes out)!
The plot had me hooked immediately, and I was back with my old friends Eddie, Kate and Bloch.
As for the ending, wow. I had some idea for some of it, but the actual ending was simply stunning, and wonderfully crafted.
When is the next book due?! I need it ASAP.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The Accomplice is the latest in the best-selling Eddie Flynn series by Steve Cavanagh. I confess that I absolutely love this series of books and the latest does not disappoint. Daniel Miller is The Sandman, a serial killer response to 17 deaths who is on the run and his wife Carrie is on trial for aiding and abetting. However, she claims innocence and Eddie Flynn and his team are there to defend her. All the gang are here - Bloch, Harry Ford , Kate and the ever-capable Denise who is rapidly becoming one of my favourite characters. Eddie does not take on cases where he believes the defendant is guilty but he needs all his expertise to win this one. As ever with Steve's books there are twists and turns aplenty - do yourself a favour - buy, read & enjoy.

Another brilliant book from Steve Cavanagh.
Flynn and the team are asked to defend Carrie, who had been accused of being an accomplice to her husband’s murders.
Danny is nowhere to be found but that doesn’t stop the FBI charging Carrie.
Flynn and the team believe Carrie is innocent and as always will pull out the stops to try and win her case.
What they hadn’t bargained for is the killer playing his own game with them and putting a life at risk.
This is a fast paced thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Steve Cavanagh took his maverick New York lawyer Eddie Flynn out of his comfort zone in his previous book, The Devil's Advocate. Not everyone was convinced about the way he almost single-handedly dealt a blow to the institutionalised racism of a small Alabama community, but I thought it was still a thrilling edge-of-the-seat ride. With The Accomplice Eddie Fkynn is back on familiar ground, in New York dealing with a criminal court case in his own irreverent fashion. Maybe a little too familiar ground is covered here, but with Steve Cavanagh you can be sure to expect plenty of surprises along the way.

The current case he is involved with might not be the biggest case of his career - each respective case has certainly lived up to that billing so far - but it's only one step removed from it. An utterly fearsome serial killer known as the Sandman has been terrorising the city, mutilating bodies, removing the eyes from his victims and filling their empty sockets with sand. The police have identified the killer from a stray thumb print found at one murder scene belonging to wealthy businessman Daniel Miller, but The Sandman still remains at large and very, very dangerous. Perhaps even more dangerous than before, because his wife Carrie has been arrested and put on trial, accused of being his accomplice, and he is making dead sure that there are going to be no witnesses to testify against her.

You would think however that having Eddie Flynn as her defense lawyer might be enough, but Eddie is far from sure he can win this case. Just to give him an added incentive, the Sandman has abducted his assistant attorney Kate. As long as Carrie isn't convicted, Kate might be safe, but aside from effectively working on behalf of a serial killer still at large, Eddie has other problems to surmount. Neither the judge nor the jury seem to be on his side, and in the absence of the Sandman, the FBI and the authorities would be keen to get a conviction, even if it is just to take down his wife as an accomplice. Admittedly, Eddie has faced down much tougher setbacks than that, but what makes this one even more of a challenge is that his defendant has disappeared and is going to be tried, and likely convicted, in her absence.

There are some things you know to expect with a Steve Cavanagh novel and Eddie Flynn delivers them. Flying by the seat of his pants for one thing, and Flynn is still working on the defense even as his team are gathering information and setting up con tricks he can use to his advantage - and to showman effect - in the courtroom. If it seems a little flat this time it may be that we've seen it all before, but another explanation is that Eddie is under serious pressure this time, isn't so sure of himself and is worried that he might even be covering up and acting in behalf of someone who is indeed the accomplice to a deadly killer.

That's all well and good, and Steve Cavanagh delivers another slick, fast moving thriller with showstopping cross-examination moments in the courtroom that are just jaw-dropping, but other than that, there are indeed few real surprises. You might even work out where this one is going much earlier than usual, although you can be sure that Cavanagh always has another card up his sleeve. Eddie, the former light-fingered con-man not so much, and you miss that aspect now that the former lone-wolf, street lawyer is now a high flying attorney with a super competent team behind him. That allows him to get doors kicked down and answers delivered more quickly when under pressure, but it's just not as much fun as the earlier books when every page was jaw-dropping and every chapter would end with Eddie in an impossible life-threatening cliffhanger situation. It's perhaps a measure of how good Steve Cavanagh has become as a writer that the impossible has given way to the plausible. Or the almost plausible, because with Eddie Flynn there is always still an unpredictable edge.

O. M. G. This book is absolutely superb.

Steve Cavanagh is a master of his craft. He reels you in from the first page and keeps you hooked through a fast paced plot that's full of action and twists galore. Once again I was totally blindsided.

Just when I think his books can't possibly get better, they do!

I can't recommend this series highly enough. You need to read them.

Okay. So if I worked with Eddie Flynn, I'd be making sure that I had a really good life insurance policy. Assuming I could even get a life insurance policy that is. It's fair to say that where Eddie goes, trouble with follow, and if it's not Eddie, it's those around them who end up in the crossfire. This is definitely the case with The Accomplice where Eddie and the team come face to face (sort of) with a killer who will stop at nothing to ensure his co-defendant is found not guilty. Even if that means breaking cover to commit more murder. This was a fast paced, high stakes, full on tension kind of read - just the way I like it.

Eddie and co are used to coming up against some pretty twisted individuals, and that can definitely be said of their latest foe, The Sandman, a killer with a very distinctive signature, one which makes the stomach churn just a touch. The Sandman takes trophies from his victims and I have to say this is one particular scenario which makes me a little squeamish. If there is anything that can make my skin crawl, it's that. What that is you will have to read to find out, but it's the one thing to make me wince throughout the book.

I love the pacing of these books. There is always something going on, some angle which sees the action pick up tenfold on numerous occasions and the jeopardy levels go off the charts. Add into the mix, murdered witnesses, an absconded defendant and a killer who seemingly won't be stopped and it makes for a deliciously fast paced read. I flew through it, glued to the story and wondering just how Eddie was going to get them out of a hole this time. Quite literally in some cases, but least said about that the better.

Now this book is set in the usual Steve Cavanagh style, with chapters from the killer's point of view interspersed amongst the trial scenes and those in which Eddie and the team try to get to the bottom of the case. This was the one thing which both did and didn't quite work for me with this story. We knew who the killer was, even if they were missing, but with chapters told from their perspective it made me start to question whether this wasn't just the most elaborate double bluff. But if things weren't quite as expected, then just what was in play? I did guess the truth, the big reveal, ahead of the story, but that wasn't an issue. Watching Eddie slowly come to the same realisations, seeing the threat impacting them all, was where the true impact of the book is felt. If anything it made them more acutely aware of what was at risk and the scenes in the courtroom played out in the usual mix of tension and entertainment. Eddie Flynn is a showman, but a skilled on. This case was no different.

The one stand out for me in this book was former FBI Agent Gabriel Lake. He was a brilliant introduction, a character much like Eddie who was driven by an inherent and at times overwhelming sense of right and wrong. Together with Bloch, he had some really great scenes. Whilst she is a woman of few words but very decisive actions, Lake has a real insight into the criminal mind, and is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in. The felt formidable, and when they were on the hunt the chemistry between them was clear, even if they were almost chalk and cheese. You could feel that they understood each other and that Bloch appreciated what made Lake tick, even if the others hadn't quite worked him out. I'd be very interested to see how the author utilises him as a character in the future.

This was another fab addition to a series which really stands out in the world of legal dramas. I love the characters, their unwavering sense of right and wrong and the dedication they have to each other. it really does make the series something special. With a blistering pace, an overt sense of threat and danger and a killer who lacks any kind of moral code this kept me completely engrossed from start to finish. I tore through it, almost impatient to get to the end to make sure that nothing that bad could possibly happen again. And then, speaking of the end - nicely played Mr Cavanagh. Very fitting. Fans of the series will love this book.

Sheer brilliance!

Just when you think Steve Cavanagh can´t get any better, he goes and writes the next installment of Eddie Flynn and his team.

There are no words to fully describe how fabulous this book it. Take my word for it and simply read it for yourself! So clever, so engrossing, so utterly great!

My thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

I'd been looking forward to this for ages and as usual, Cavanagh ups the stakes with each new book. The versatility and diversity of his plotlines are compelling and The Accomplice is one of his best.
With a seemingly impossible and dangerous task ahead of him Eddie Flynn and his team have to pull out all the stips in order to prove their client innocent of being an accomplice.whilst also trying to track down the real killer.
With the stakes upped and things becoming more personal by the seconf this is a high adrenalin read. But what really had me gasping was the sneaky twisty ending! A triumph that as usual leaves me wanting more!

I previously googled Steve Cavanagh as his books are that good there was no way in my mind that he wasn’t or still is a lawyer. Yup he used to be. His books are so enjoyable and I find the court room scenes a whole lot more accessible than Grisham, mainly i can follow what’s going on.
Eddie Flynt is asked to represent Carrie Miller, whose husband Daniel has been revealed to be the serial killer The Sandman. Daniel is on the run and Carrie is under suspicion of being an accomplice in the killings. Eddie believes she is telling the truth when she says she didn’t know, and takes the case. Meanwhile Daniel is still out there and still killing, including someone close to Eddie.
Gabriel Lake was a federal agent when someone tried to kill him. Now he is an investigator and he has a grudge against the Sandman. He thinks he is the only one who can catch him as he doesn’t trust the FBI profilers to be at all accurate. He works with Eddie and his crew to find the killer
With Carrie on trial The Sandman is forced to come out of hiding in order to save her, every witness is a target.

If you’ve read any of Cavanaghs books you will discover there is always a clever twist at the end and this book dare I say had two!
I so love this author, all I can say is read this, read The a devils Advocate, read Fifty Fifty, read Thirteen…….read them all.

This book got me out of my reading slump. I felt like I did when I was younger - using a torch under my covers to read late into the night - I just didn't want to stop reading it. An incredible piece of writing. I cannot wait for the next installment of Eddie Flynn

This is book #7 in the Eddie Flynn series. This has been a great series so far, so I’m always going to be keen to read a new book! Eddie returns and has taken on the case of Carrie Miller, the wife of serial killer The Sandman. Everyone believes that Carrie Miller knew that her husband, Daniel Miller was The Sandman but she maintains her innocence! Eddie knows it’s a tricky case to prove but sets about it with his trusted team to try and get The Sandman caught and Carrie Miller freed.

This was, as per all the other books in the series, a fantastic read! The author has mastered the art of producing all the twists and turns needed to make the perfect courtroom thriller! I know I’ve said this before in previous reviews, but I can’t help but compare Eddie to the great Saul Goodman, from the Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad series. Eddie Goodman doesn’t have the same ring to it, but Eddie Flynn is definitely a name to remember! The Sandman is frightening, and his part in the storyline sent shivers down my spine. The chapters moved between Eddie and his team to The Sandman’s perspective effortlessly and I was transfixed throughout with all their storylines. It’s a difficult case for Eddie, but I love the team he has working with him. Of course, Harry Ford is a legend going right back to the first book of the series, but Kate and Bloch are very high in the likeability stakes!

The storyline twisted and turned, capturing courtroom scenes and the hunt for the serial killer equally. There are plenty of characters to like, some to hate and one or two to be just downright scared of. The pace was fast, the suspense and tension were high, and the killings were brutal and gruesome! I thought I had the story worked out and knew where it was heading…but boy, was I wrong!! It held my attention and had me thinking about what was happening right to the very end! This author has again produced a gripping, chilling and mind-blowing thriller! When’s the next book out?!!

I’ve been a huge fan of the Eddie Flynn series since I read the first book, and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed every one. The Accomplice reminds me of the older books in the series. Lots of action and pace kept me turning the pages late into the night. Not my favorite of the series so far, but definitely another cracker! 3.5 rounded up because Eddie is a legend!

If you haven’t read an Eddie Flynn book yet then you don’t know what you are missing. The straight talking lawyer is one of my all time favourite characters and this book is top notch. So many twists. One after the other! So much drama and intrigue. I’m here for courtroom dramas 🙋🏼‍♀️ Brilliant collection of characters and a great twist! The Sandman murderer is creepy as hell too 😱😅 LOVED IT

I do love a courtroom drama, and Steve Cavanagh never fails to deliver with his Eddie Flynn series! Eddie Flynn is a New York defence lawyer, ex-conman, who works hard to fight for the people and causes that he believes own, often sacrificing his own happiness to do so. In The Accomplice, the client that he takes on is Carrie Millar, an ex-actress who is married to an investment broker called Danny Millar. Why does Carrie need Eddie’s help? Danny Millar has been named as serial killer The Sandman, and the police are convinced that Carrie not only knew of the murders that he carried out, but that she assisted him, including providing an crucial alibi for him. However, Carrie denies this, and Eddie believes her, which is why he agrees to take on her case. The rollercoaster starts here and it does not disappoint - the story slows though twists and turns and I couldn’t wait to see how it ended up, and I was not disappointed.

This is a strong, well plotted story, with well written characters. I have read all of the Eddie Flynn books, but this could easily be read as a stand-alone, although I would encourage anyone to read the whole series. What I particularly enjoy is the balance of the story - lots of books are written with lots of plot twists, however many of them fall into the trap of just having that one or two plot twists too many. For example, if there is a serial killer on a remote island, they don’t have to have a grudge with every single other individual on the island, in my opinion. However, with this book and the other eddie Flynn books, the solution isn’t necessarily something you’ll see coming, but it hasn’t been wrestled out of thin air just to provide an unguessable twist either.

I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a well paced thriller, a courtroom drama, strong convincing characters, or just a damn good story! I already can’t wait for the next one!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Eddie Flynn #7

Paige Delaney of the FBI is outside an expensive house in Old Westbury, New York. They are hunting the Coney Island Killer otherwise known as The Sandman who to date has killed 17 victims and has a grotesque and unique signature with sand. They have reason to believe the Sandman is wealthy hedge fund manager Daniel Miller, he’s not there but his wife Carrie is. She is arrested and six months later indicted by the grand jury on six counts of homicide as she is considered his accomplice. Otto Peltier is her lawyer but he’s not a criminal lawyer and so he pleads with Eddie and his team to take the case but Eddie takes some convincing to accept. Like many others Eddie is full of questions. Is Carrie innocent? Has she been duped and betrayed by Daniel? How can you not know your husband is a serial killer? Kate believes Carrie is a victim too but many a Joe Public believes she’s guilty so would she ever get a fair trial? The team are up against it with this one but let’s face it, when are they not??!!

Wow, with this powerful latest instalment of this terrific series I don’t know if my heart is in my mouth or it’s sinking, all I can tell is that it’s all over the place!

First of all, The Sandman. He’s audacious, cunning, and very clever and to say he is without scruple is a huge understatement. Some of the ideas the author introduces about him are excellent and allow you to get a clear picture. The tension is utterly taut, it’s creepy and chilling, scary and frightful and beyond dangerous, yet Steve Cavanagh knows just went to release the built up tension by giving us a smile or a chuckle. Thank you!

The characterisation is tremendous and I really like the introduction of Gabriel Lake, ex FBI agent who joins the tightknit family team of Eddie and Co. He is a fascinating conundrum. The bond of Eddie’s team is terrific , when they’re down so are you and when they’re up you cheer with them.

The plot as fast paced and on occasions it’s belting along at warp speed making it exciting and completely gripping. At times I yell ‘Nooooo’ which gets a few odd glances but that’s how involved you get. It’s almost like you’re there and living it with them.

The courtroom scenes are, as ever, completely electric with plenty of entertaining and lively Eddie moves that fans of the series love so much. Just like Eddie in the courtroom the author plays the reader like a fiddle, fool me once, oh okay, at least twice! The twists are belters, the tension is palpable along with the breathtaking suspense which all amounts to yet another cracking read and an easy five stars from me.

Can’t wait for the next instalment !

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Orion Publishing for that much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
