Steve Cavanagh has delivered yet again. The Accomplice is the seventh novel in the Eddie Flynn series, and if you've not read any of this series yet, this Summer is the time to start!

The Accomplice combines all of the things I love about Cavanagh's work - a clever plot, writing that will keep you turning page after page, central characters that you can't help but love, and twists... Cavanagh is the King of Twists! I loved it.

Where to start with a review for a book that ticks all of the boxes for being thrilling, twisty and full of the unexpected? A full 5 starts for the latest novel from the genius that is Steve Cavanagh.
Well, I might as well admit that I'm half-asleep from staying up to read 'The Accomplice'. I should know better by now than to start reading a new Steve Cavanagh (or re-reading if I'm being honest) in the evening time as there is zero likelihood of my going to bed on time. Very much worth it though.
'The Accomplice' is the seventh novel in the crime series, starring one Eddie Flynn - a lawyer in NYC. Over the series, Eddie has graduated from working on small cases for little money to now having a well-established reputation of the lawyer for those in trouble. And this time around, the client is definitely in trouble.
Carrie Miller has become the most hated woman in America since she was arrested by the FBI for being the accomplice when her husband Daniel Miller was committing a series of shocking and brutal murders through the city. The FBI have been unable to find the killer, nicknamed The Sandman but have uncovered some evidence to connect Carrie to the crimes.
Days before her trial is due to commence and Otto Peltier, the trial prep lawyer has appealed to Eddie and his team for help. The reason for approaching Eddie? He is certainly a hotshot and successful lawyer but Carrie believes that Eddie and his team will prove her Innocence.
The team (Eddie, Harry, Bloch, Kate and Denise) agree that they believe Carrie and are soon deep into the investigation.
Meanwhile, we meet both Delaney and a profiler named Gabriel Lake. Although working on a different side of the investigation from Eddie, we heard their own thoughts and viewpoints. Adding an extra layer of depth to the tale and lead us to question where their loyalties lie.
And then we receive the final character - The Sandman. Our serial killer is deeply angry over his wife's arrest and probable conviction. And he decides to eliminate some of the obstacles (or witnesses) in the way.
Eddie and team find themselves split between 1) trying to build and defend the case against Carrie, 2) tracking down The Sandman and 3) reinvestigate the murders. Each element of the investigation weaves another layer of mystery around the Sandman and his chilling ability to hunt and kill faster than the police and FBI can catchup.
Eddie soon finds himself racing along a dangerous precipice, where one mistake will cost the lives of his team and anyone who angers The Sandman.
From the opening page of the FBI arrest, to the final page, there are twists and double twists to keep the reader engaged and the pace does not let up for a moment.
Grab some coffee, find a comfy place to sit and then sit down to read The Accomplice n one sitting!

"Mr Sandman, bring me a dream" except the dreamy lifestyle is over for Carrie Miller as she's charged with being an accomplice to her husband's murdering spree.
Eddie Flynn is back with another case that's going to test him and his colleagues to the limit. And throughout it all The Sandman is one step ahead of the FBI as his wife is brought for justice.
Each time I read an Steve Cavanagh novel I think it's better than his last, Eddie Flyyn just goes from strength to strength. This courtroom drama/thriller will keep you guessing until the very last page. A great book

Carrie Miller is infamous. Her husband Daniel is the notorious serial killer The Sandman. He has evaded capture for over a year and now the FBI think Carrie not only knew her husband was a serial killer but helped him commit the murders. Can Eddie Flynn and his team get her a verdict of not guilty?

Reading one of Steve Cavanagh’s books is like being cross examined by Eddie Flynn. Sure, you think you know where this is heading until, without you realising, he’s performed the old bait and switch and everything is on it’s head. The only difference between you the reader and the person on the stand is that you love him for it!
One of the best things about this series is opening the latest book and feeling like you are meeting up with those friends you are so fond of but you haven’t seen in a while. I love Cavanagh’s characters, each of them bringing something different to the team. My favourite parts are always going to be Eddie in the courtroom and as per usual I was totally in awe of his ability to rock an seemingly impossible situation.
It’s a super creepy book and I for one will never listen to *that* song without chills again.
As per usual, I finished the book with my jaw on the floor and my mind blown. Loved it.

This is the perfect book either if you are a fan of the Eddie Flynn series or if you are only just discovering the author (Where have you been? Make up for lost time and read the rest!) It’s brilliant for fans of legal thrillers, crime fiction and a good twisty plot.

Thank you for Steve Cavanagh, Orion publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my how the hell do you do this Steve Cavanagh and write books that completely blow my mind every time …you just did it once more by writing another thrilling instalment in the amazing Eddie Flynn series and I loved it !
There are good books and great books but then there are books that just completely blow your mind well this is one of those and to be honest every book in this series has been the same each time I start a new one in the series I think there is no way this can be better than the last one and it always is !
I read a lot of books and have a lot of favourites but this series to me has always been special, I have always thought if I could meet a character from a book who would it be well Eddie Flynn tops my list he is one hell of a brilliant character flaws and all he is so well written and I love him to pieces.
I must also mention the other members of the team Harry and his dog Clarence, Kate and Bloch they also are characters that have become special with each and every instalment and it’s almost like being back with old friends when you start a new book.
Of course the plot line of this read is stunning, clever and with all the twists you would wish for with Eddie at his brilliant best in the courtroom and leaving me picking my jaw up from the floor more than once this is real clever stuff going on here and that ending just floored me !
So a truly outstanding read it’s deserving of more than 5 stars, I have nothing bad to say about it it was a dream of a read and I was sorry to finish it and as always can’t wait for the next in series.
Massive thanks to Steve Cavanagh you sir are a true genius I love reading and you are reason why I do with your brilliant plots and characters, long may you continue.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Steve Cavanagh's hotshot lawyer Eddie Flynn is back, in his latest gripping and fast paced New York City legal thriller, a truly thrilling and twisted addition featuring the most hated women in the country as his client. Notorious serial killer, The Sandman, killing mostly women, rips out their eyes and pours sand over the victim's face, has been revealed by the FBI as Daniel Miller, a wealthy hedge fund manager, but he remains at large. Instead, his wife, Carrie, has been charged and facing trial as his accomplice, her home is under siege, the public and media loathe her and protesters are targeting her. Her pre-trial preparation lawyer, Otto Peltier, has approached Eddie to take over her defense for the trial as he has little experience, but Eddie is wary. It may be hottest case in America, with a promised payday that most lawyers can only dream of, but he will only take on clients he believes are innocent, he still carries the trauma of having previously defended the guilty.

When he meets Carrie, he sees a woman heavily weighed down by a sense of grief and guilt, her suffering persuades him that she is innocent, although he can feel Carrie has not told him everything as he sets out to defend her. He and his hardworking and talented team, consisting of ex-judge, mentor and now consultant Harry Ford, partner Kate Brooks, investigator Bloch and his over-qualified office manager, Denise, are the only ones who believe Carrie is innocent, and simply another victim of the Sandman. They are joined by Gabriel Lake, once a former FBI agent before someone tried to kill him, he believes everything the FBI knows about serial killers is false, and he is a man who wants revenge. Interspersed throughout the narrative is the persepective of the Sandman, intent on saving and freeing his much loved wife, he is once again killing to protect Carrie, and everyone, including Eddie and his team are a target.

Cavanagh once again pulls off another stellar addition to his wonderful series with his terrific plotting, and the creation and development of his charismatic ex-conman lawyer, Eddie Flynn. Flynn is on top form here, despite being under severe emotional stress, setting out to win against all the odds, deploying his familiar bag of strategies in a riveting and tense courtroom drama. He finds himself forced to adapt to unforseen circumstances, and utilising childhood friends like Jimmy 'the Hat' Fellini. This is a terrifically entertaining crime read, full of shocks and twists, that will appeal to existing fans of the series, and appeal to other crime, mystery and thriller fans. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.
