With thanks to the author, publishers W.F. Howes, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

This is an inspirational book from Coach Mike Chadwick. My sport happens to be long-distance running rather than some of those discussed in the book, but the author does a great job of explaining his core concepts (e.g. the battlefield) in such a way that the reader can understand them and apply them, what your chosen discipline happens to be. His no-nonsense approach to training and non-acceptance of excuses to avoid it were a breath of fresh air, and really make you think about long and hard about why you train, what you want to get out of it, and how you can minimise the impact of that training on those nearest and dearest to you.

I really appreciated the Tactical Takeaways that he consistently refers to throughout the book, and that are covered in great details in the PDF that accompanies the audiobook. He also provides a strength calculator in that PDF that you can enter your personal data into to learn how many sets and reps of particular exercises you would need to do to reach a certain level of strength at that exercise. This level of interaction really is the next best thing to having him there in person to coach you!

Overall a very enriching experience, and one that I learned a lot from that I intend to incorporate into my own training and daily life.

5⭐️

🦏 I loved this audiobook! It contained great content, excellent expert guests and the narration was top draw.

🦏 The goal of the book is for you to identify your personal physical goals, what’s holding you back from achieving them and the practices you need to follow to help you get there.

🦏 This is not a quick fix book, telling you to do these one or two things, it’s about setting you up for long term physical success.

🦏 Throughout the entire book, Mike stays in his lane, where he specialises, Coaching. He speaks with passion and authority on the subject.

🦏 He also uses special guests to either back up his thoughts or to make comment on areas they are specialists, including The Stoltman Brothers, @luke.stoltman @tomstoltmanofficial. Ant Middleton @antmiddleton and many more who are at the top of their fields!

🦏 There are many takeaways from this book. My top takeaways:
Sort your core!
Mindset comes after physical.
Do the Work - No Excuses
Individualism over generalisation

🦏 I recommend this to all interested in physical performance, regardless of your training age.
