Really enjoyed this book. I did think it was a bit over descriptive in parts and alot of Italian language used.

I thought the characters were well thought out and very inclusive. Great to see!

Would definitely read more from this author.

I was completely and utterly transported to the Italian island of Ischia in this slow burn romantic novel.

Like Lily I wasn't overly aware of Ischia's existence, but I am now definitely keen to visit. The author has done a wonderful job of promoting the island and I felt as though I was there alongside the characters.

Lily is just one of the wedding party spending 9 days on the island, and I really enjoyed getting to know all of her friends, while also hoping that the time away will help her get over the most recent break up.

I loved all the friends, especially the brides and their rather differnt approaches to a wedding.

It was the travel aspects that appealed to me most and they were all incredibly well done. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the island from my sunbed in Mexico, and found myself considering Ischia for my next holiday.

Thank you to Sphere and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A good story with great descriptions of beautiful Italian islands. When Lily and friends are on the Italian island for a wedding it gives her a chance to think about realising a dream of a new direction in life in more ways than she expects.

This book is a great summer read which really makes you want to head to the island of Ischia, Italy.
It's a light-hearted story about a group of 5 30-something friends, two of whom are getting married to each other on the idyllic island, who turn it into a week-long holiday to spend some well-needed time together.

The book mainly focuses on Lily and is written in the third person. Just before Lily heads out on the holiday she ends her long-term relationship and her time on the island turns into her trying to discover what she wants to do with her life.

The book paints a wonderful picture of the Italian island and all the great things about Italy, including the people, food, and wine. It's an easy read with relatable characters. This book will have you googling trips to Italy by the end of it!

This book is a perfect summer read - full. of friendship, escapism and light heartedness.

Catherine Mangan painted a vivid image of both life in New York, the beautiful scenery of Italy and most importantly, the island of Ischia.

One Italian Summer is a must read for this summer.

I really enjoyed this book. After her break up with Peter in New York, heavily in debt, Lily escapes to her friends wedding on a little known island called Ischia. She strikes up a friendship with Matt who takes her on boat trips and to restaurants whilst she is maid of honour to her 2 gay best friends who are getting married.

Nice lighthearted story, a great summer read.

Reading ‘One Italian Summer’ really transported me on a relaxing adventure along with Lily and her friends. The island of Ischia is not one I had heard about which worked well with the storyline. I’ve found myself looking up the island to see it’s location and would certainly consider a holiday there myself. The story follows Lily’s fall out from her partner and the following trip to Italy for her friends wedding. The friendships and conversations felt really natural and the whole holiday seemed like an luxurious treat that I could only aspire to. Lily’s interest in Matt developed slowly and didn’t take away from the rest of the story.

This was a DNF for me. Sadly I only got to 15% before I gave up on it, purely because the characters were so unlikeable. Our heroine dumps her boyfriend by blaming him for not wanting kids and not telling her, and yelling at him for this, yet he had told her and in the perfect way for the stage in the relationship they were at, and without any way she could misinterpret it, yet she thought she could change his mind so stayed with him, then acted like a shrieking banshee when she realised he was serious. Then we have the soon to be newlyweds, of which 1 was nice, but the other was horrific, to the point you felt like it was an abusive relationship yet wasn’t meant to read like one. I really didn’t enjoy it so DNF

This lighthearted journey between 5 friends and an amazing Italian summer wedding was beautiful to read. The vivid imagery written by the author made it easy to place oneself into the Ischia island.
Lily's series of unfortunate events lead her to finding herself in Italy and although the hints of romance were great, I found it to be a story of self rediscovery and starting on a new path as a previously established woman.
This is a really lighthearted summer read perfect for a a variety of people. I personally gave this 3.5 ⭐️ as I found there was something missing for me, and I found in a few parts I found myself skimming.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

This is such a beautifully written book which I enjoyed. I thought it started off quite slowly although it started to pick up more when everyone arrived on the island of Ischia. The island setting and scenes were so wonderfully descriptive I could picture everything in my mind. The main character Lily was quite likeable, as were the other characters who are all on the island to attend a wedding. Add in some drama, a possible romance, an unexpected visit from someone and you’ve got the perfect holiday read and a few hours of escapism. The best part of the story for me was its setting and what made it a good read. If you’re going on holiday and like to read I think this would be the perfect book to take.

A very enjoyable book. It took me a bit of effort to get into the first chapter but I was very glad I did as it developed into an entertaining read set in a lovely location. A good story underpinning the book and excellent descriptions of the food but I have to say that the ladies were very lucky to survive with their livers intact. Well worth reading.

"One Italian Summer" should succeed in drawing many more tourists to Ischia as the island is described so lovingly. The story centres around a group of rather entitled friends, two of whom are getting married in a luxury resort on said island. Other than the brides the ladies are at different stages in relationships. The featured member of the party is Lily Ryan, an Irish woman working in New York, and of an age where she might be looking to settle down and start a family. The group experience visits to different parts of the island and have many memorable meals, and a lot of drink. The people they meet are generally glamorous, good-looking and friendly so, in general, a good time is had by all. Of course there are some issues and events to add drama but essentially this is a feel-good read. It is not realistic for most of us, but aspirational.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
