Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I am at a loss for words. I don’t even know what to say. This might be one of my favourite reads of the year so far. It was so fucking good.

I don’t even know where to start. The world building: Beautifully done. The plot: Greatly executed. Character Development: Beautifully done. Slow burn romance: Burned so fucking good, the tension was immaculate, the romance was fucking beautiful. I loved it so so so so much.

The world building was out of this world. Though it jumped from different worlds at time, they were beautifully distinct and painted so clearly. The different creatures were distinct and well developed. Each character was also extremely well developed.

At first when I received the ARC I was like “WTF 2000 pages??” But fuck I WANT MORE. I finished the book not even realizing how quickly I just finished 2000+ pages. I could not stop reading no matter how hard I tried. This book was a perfect balance of an intricate fantasy world that had a plot of a war uprising and a beautifully executed slow burn romance that was enemies-friends- to lovers. As much as I love Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, Liam and Dianna’s relationship development is what SJM wished Aelin and Rowan’s relationship development was.

The ending had my dropping for the last 10 or so pages. I will be thinking of this book a lot for the next few days.

IT WAS SO GOOD SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY. EVERYONE PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO READ!!! I NEED BOOK 2 NOWWW

It enjoyed this book and read it as quickly as I could. It's about a god, called World Ender who meets one of his arch enemies and falls in love. It's a fast paced novel with a intricate plot. I look forward to Nicole's next novel.

A very promising introduction to a world of gods, demons, and Otherworld creatures.
This story follows Dianna, a transformed Ig’Morruthen, feared creatures known for cruelty and worldly devastation. However there is goodness in Dianna. She is tethered to kindness through her sister Gabby, whom she sacrificed herself to save. When Dianna gets involved in the death of a God’s Hand. She summons the Legend himself back.

The Book of Azrael is an explosive start to an amazing tale. If you love:

✔️ Morally gray villians
✔️Enemies to Lovers
✔️Smart-mouth powerful heroine
✔️Witty bantering
✔️Family love

This books is definitely for you. However be warned! Amber Nicole doesn’t go for a soft cliffhanger she’s goes for the throat! A life-altering cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see what will happen next!

So this book had many elements I like - Enemies to lovers, morally grey FMC, magic, gods vs monsters. However, it was maybe 200 pages longer than it needed to be, there was a lot of added fluff - and the book could have used another round of edits.

The transition between enemies to lovers was abrupt, like immediate truce, gush my heart and soul out, and that was totally unbelievable. -- Also, the angry tension between them was SO good throughout the book until the actual moment the author chose to let it happen... and it was very lackluster.. (and I'm not talking spice level) it's just.. there was no tension.. that anger didn't culminate into what you love out of EtoL..

This was set on Onuna, which I think is supposed to be like Earth.. there were a lot of urban idioms and items, it felt strange that Gods who could communicate telepathically and portal places and manipulate matter were relying on tablets and whatnot.

It was a slow start, but once the story picked up it was fairly enjoyable, I did laugh at some of the banter, I was shocked in some areas, but unsurprised in others. I could probably be convinced to read the sequel out of curiosity alone, the book did end on a mild cliffhanger; but I won't seek it out.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amber Nicole and the Publisher for providing an eARC copy of this amazing novel!

I was intrigued by the blurb for this book and was excited to get started. Right from the beginning, I was pulled into the original world building and mythos that the author crafted for these characters and their realms.

The main female character, Dianna, is a complex being, who was at one time mortal, but who, in a moment of desperation, made a deal with the powerful Kaden to save her sisters life. In exchange, he made her into what she considers to be a Monster. Dianna is extremely powerful, can wield fire, shape shift, etc. Kaden has also continued to use Dianna as his personal weapon in his search for the mythical Book of Azrael. When one the warrior Celestial's known as the Hand, is killed in protection of the Book. This action summons back the all powerful God, Samkiel (aka Liam).

Once Liam enters the picture, the adventure really starts. These two begin as enemies, but quickly find. common ground given the trauma they've both experienced over their long lives and its residual effects. Dianna calms Liam and helps with his recurring nightmares. Liam helps Dianna see that she is not the monsters she believes herself to be. The evolution of their relationship to friendship and then eventually more, is lovely to feel a part of and their back and forth banter is hilarious as times.

There are some great supporting characters as well. I especially enjoyed the platonic relationship Dianna has with Drake, the vampire prince and her sister, Gabby. And after that crazy cliff hanger, I am definitely excited to read what happens next!.

I don't what to say really.
I guess I just lost interest halfway through.
However I have to say the characters were interesting and had good development. My main issue was with the story and it's pacing.

I am absolutely obsessed with this book. It has been a long time since I fell in love with a new author, with new characters, and new worlds. A long time since I remembered why I love to read so much, and the power words can have. The Book of Azrael by Amber Nicole was the reminder I needed. I loved every minute spent reading this book. I loved it so much that I went out and purchased my own copy after finishing the e-ARC (which is the first time that has happened, in case you were wondering). Simply put, The Book of Azrael has every element of a perfect fantasy romance and executes each component with care and consideration. If you enjoy a single one of the above elements (and who are we kidding, you probably like most of them), then you will adore this book. Reading it truly feels like stepping into another world, and I promise, you won’t want to come back

A long, hard job

This was a very hard slog. 795 pages, and such an effort to make myself read the whole thing! The style is florid and difficult to read. The plot doesn't become discernable until one has read a third of the book. Main characters Dianna and Liam are difficult to empathize with. Dianna lacks a personality -- she is more of a weapons platform than a person. (By that I mean that her personality consists of being dangerous -- she can launch fire at things, turn into a hellbeast, etc. Like a main battle tank or a nuclear submarine, her personality largely consists of her offensive capabilities.) Liam has a personality, but unfortunately it is the personality of a spoiled fourteen-year-old boy with Daddy issues. The only believable person in the book is Dianna's sister Gabby. Unfortunately she is a minor character, barely more than a prop to motivate Dianna.

There is so much more I could say, but I don't want to be unnecessarily cruel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rose & Star publishing for an advance review copy.

- Enemies to lovers
- Forced proximity
- Forbidden romance
- FMC villain
- Slow burn
- Epic world building
- Constant action/fight scenes
- Cliffhanger ending

This book exceeded all my expectations!

The world building is epic! It can seem a little daunting in the beginning. However, the author did an amazing job weaving the whole world together. Loved the merging of old world gods/monsters in the modern era. Dianna is a perfect MFC - smart, funny, beautiful and a badass with her own personal growth in the book. Liam is the smoldering god with a painful past. Both forced to work together to save what is important to them. Perfect witty banter. Grumpy-sunshine romance, just a pinch of spice (would love to see that turned up for book 2), that ends with "harm her and I will burn the world!"

I cannot wait to read the next book

Where do I even begin? To start, this book was very good. I enjoyed the storyline and characters. I mostly like the fact that there is a strong female lead that is not helpless but does what she has to do to protect the one person she loves the most.

The writing style was good, with a medium-paced dialogue with good descriptions in the story and well-written character development. With regards to world-building, I would have loved it more for some more detail of rashaerim but overall the world building was quite good.

It is noticed that there was no rush with this story and that makes the book more enjoyable. The mere fact that the characters were relatable at certain points allowed me to feel sympathy and compassion for our 2 main characters.

In terms of POVs, it was well written, specifically the male's POV as it was not fixated on sexual aspects and more on the analysis of our female lead Dianna and gave us an insight into bits of his past as well as his conflict in him. With Dianna, it was refreshing to see how she thought and saw the world, and how we got to see Liam's past life through her instead of having to wait and watch a female character beg and argue with the male character until he gives in.

It was not a forced enemies to lovers story and showed moral conflict and going against an ancient historical rivalry.

There was nothing bad to say about the book, However, I do stand by having more world-building scenes. The author did an amazing job with this story and I am honoured to have received this arc. A beautiful fantasy story with much history and modernization to keep readers aware and comfortable. Definitely worth 5 stars.

The Book of Azrael was probably one of my favorite books in a long time. I loved the MC, the enemies to lovers, the world building, the morally grey characters, the villains, and the character development. I thought this book was well written with an amazing plot and characters. This book is also extremely unique with regards to the characters, world(s), and magic. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this book. I CANNOT wait for the next book and wish I could order it now. I can’t believe this was a debut. Absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend and can’t wait to read this again before the next book comes out.

This was tough… I think it had a lot of potential, the plot sounded interesting enough but I am shocked this is receiving as good of reviews as it has been. It definitely needed another round of editing (in length and grammar) and I can’t believe this is going to be a roughly 6 book series. I feel like everyone is trying to cash in on ACOTAR’s fame.

I ended up skimming through most of the last half because the first half was such a slog to get through. Sorry to all who worked on this but, definitely not for me.

In a world filled with Monsters, Gods and Mortals, the battle between good and evil is stirring once again. Thousands of years ago, Dianna gave up her mortal life to save the life of her and her sister during the time of the God’s War. At the time, her only concern was for her sister. She did not know that she was trading her mortal life for an immortal one with a ruthless and evil creature, Kaden. Now Dianna serves her “savior” as his second in command, earning her very own reputation as a powerful and ruthless henchman. For centuries, Kaden has had her on a mission to find an ancient artifact, one that will help him destroy an ancient fabled God and ultimately the creatures that hunt her kind. But when that fabled God, known as the World Ender, returns to her world, Dianna takes a daring decision. One that changes the trajectory of her and her sisters fate.

Ok, make way for Amber Nicole! It is not very often I get excited about new authors but this is hands down one of my favorite fantasy books I have read. The world building is fantastic, especially for a green author! The creatures and powers are unique and the urban/modern elements woven in keep you captivated.

But the star of this novel, DIANNA! Literally THE BEST FMC I have read in a long, long time! I really loved how Dianna is the written as the villain and we get to see the story unfold through her POV. I definitely recommend this series. I got a vibe mix between The Plated Prisoner, The Savage Lands and a bit of From Blood and Ash so if you loved any of those series, you would love this also. This is also a TRUE enemies to lovers trope.

Things to note: there are some typos so just a heads up if that sort of thing distracts you. There are a handful of missing quotation marks, some missing spaces and 2 or 3 repeated sentences. This sort of thing doesn’t bother me unless it's throughout the whole book but I know others get thrown from the story when this happens.

Also, the author plans for this series to be 5-6 books long. This is the first installment with the second book set to release in 2024…possibly April 2023? So we’re in for a long road with this.

This book delivers: Enemies to lovers, Slow burn, Strong FMC, FMC is Villain, World Building, Only One Bed, Forced Proximity, Forbidden Romance, Dual POV

Having given up her mortality to save her sister, Dianna lives under the command of Kaden, who is searching for the Book of Azrael. When Dianna meets Liam, the fabled World Ender, ancient enemies must work together to save everything they hold dear.

A lot was going on in The Book of Azrael, and while much of it sounded fascinating in theory, on the page I found it quite a struggle. I'm really sorry to say I thought the quality of the writing was very poor, to the extent that it made reading the book a real slog and not an enjoyable experience. A dark and complex dynamic like Dianna and Kaden's should offer something with a lot of depth and potential, but I felt the portrayal was shallow. Dianna read like a composite of Celaena Sardothien and Jessica Jones, but without the emotional depth of either. While there's nothing wrong with tropey writing per se, I do think it needs to offer some originality or a different angle, otherwise it's too easy to compare unfavourably to other works that are of much higher quality. This one absolutely wasn't for me.

I am grateful to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of The Book of Azrael. These opinions are my own.

Wow. Absolutely spectacular.

The Book of Azreal is jam packed full of all the tropes we know and love.

Enemies to Lovers.
Slow burn romance.
Morally grey characters.
Forced proximity.
The ‘only one bed’.
Forbidden romance.

The world building itself is quite intricate, but the author did a wonderful job at introducing all of these new concepts and places that it never felt like it was a big info dump for the reader. Very easy to consume all of this new knowledge – without distracting the reader from the storyline itself. On top of that, the pacing of the entire plot is consistent, and I found myself being physically incapable of walking away from the book. I ended up binge reading the entire thing in a 24hr period. And that cliffhanger ending! It packed a punch and had me physically sobbing. I need book two immediately.

I will try to put my feelings about this book into a condensed more sensible version than the one I've been babbling to my husband. All while wiping more tears! You have to read this book!

Liam and Dianna are the true definition of enemies to lovers. The banter between them had me laughing out loud! Hands down the best I've experienced in a book. I related to Dianna's character so much! Her ability to make a sarcastic, usually hilarious, comment even in the most serious of times made me love her so much. Liam was such a loveable grump, but with so much depth. My heart broke so many times for him and his story. He was just as sarcastic as Dianna, and I loved it. I mean come on he lowered his body temperature to make his feet cold to give himself and excuse to cuddle her.....the "AWWW" that came out of my mouth made me thankful I was home and not in public. I just loved them!

I can't possibly put into words how many different aspects are involved into this book. The world building, the politics, the emotions, even the dash of spice. The Book of Azrael has it all. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite books of all time (and I've read SJM) I will be recommending this book to everyone and it will haunt me until the next book release because, by the way, the cliffhanger is brutal!

Amber Nicole is an author I will be following impatiently waiting for her new books. Her writing is beautiful! The talent this woman has is amazing. Go get this book!

There are no words.
This book is phenomenal. The world building, Characters and development are well thought out and constructed. This book has the highest highs and the lowest lows and yet it still makes you root for the characters that are not 100% morally just.
I can't believe this book is over, I want to go back and read it again. Actually I want the next book in my hands.
The Book of Azrael has had me in a chokehold for four days and I wouldn't exchange those days for any amount of money.
Amber Nicole, you are a literary genius. Thank you.

I was gifted a copy of The Book of Azrael In exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

As much as I wanted to adore this book, I was left a bit disappointed.

I loved the concept of it all and I really like the main character, I just can't vibe with the overall story and length of the book.

In my opinion it should have been shorter.
