A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond

A second chance romance about a mother and daughter Lara and Eliza. It's always just been the two of them but as Eliza has come of age she wants to know her father but Lara will have to tell him first.

A reasonably well written book with reasonably likeable characters but a little slow at parts and somewhat predictable.

Not Ms Diamonds best but an easy beach read. 3.5/5

An easy read story about Eliza, the result of a one night stand and her quest to meet her birth father.

Thought that Lara and Ben were likeable characters, sympathetically and realistically written. Eliza though came across as rather selfish, childish and impulsive at times and somewhat annoying.

Another criticism is that this felt overly long, I ended up skimming some parts that didn’t really add anything to the story.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an ARC and the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

Instant DNF after the first chapter.

I understand that Eliza is 18 but for goodness sake you would think she were 5 with the way she acts. I cannot feel sorry or sympathy for a main character who creates a fake job to meet the man she thinks is her dad but isn't and then is so judgmental over his looks and appearance (when he's on a job!) and than has the gall to be embarrassed when he tells they should talk inside or private, she refuses so he tells her on the middle of the street that he is not her dad and her mother lied. Like are we supposed to feel sorry for her cause I don't. And this all happens in chapter one. I then went onto chapter 2 and I didn't even make it to the end cause they way Eliza talks to Lara is so unrealistic, if that was my mother there is no way I wouldn't get told off.

I would just like to say a big thank you to NetGalley who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review…

Anything Could Happen is a wonderful, warm, wise and funny, uplifting book about love, second chances and the unexpected path that life can lead us down.
Yet again this was an amazing read from a very talented author and I loved everything about it, from the wonderful storyline to the lovely set of characters too.
There were also quite a few funny moments that kept me giggling along and wanting me to read more and more…

When I first started this book I wasn’t sure about it but I can honestly say it draws you in with its wonderful characters and strong storyline. It is another Lucy Diamond great read which I enjoyed as much as her other books and thoroughly recommend

I was not expecting this book to leave me happily weepy by the end but it did.
The first quarter of the book shows how much a complicated mess life can be and how decisions you make in your youth can have long-lasting consequences and not always for the best. I wasn't sure I was going to like Lara because of how she deceived her former husband and lied to Eliza, about her real dad, Ben. I could just feel everybody's awkwardness about the situation and their heartache at how life had turned out for them and all because of missed opportunities, poor decisions and bad luck. As I got to know the characters through Ben and Eliza's new relationship I could see how Lara made the decisions she had. I couldn't help but hope along with Eliza that a spark would still be there between Lara and Ben.
The story takes place over a year and we can see how Lara, Eliza, Ben and even Ben's wife Kristen adapt to their new situations and make difficult decisions about the way they want their lives to be and who they want to be with.
I loved the fact that the three went back to New York as a family. Their naturalness as a family unit and the bond they were building was heartwarming to see. There was definite chemistry between Lara and Ben but their love story was not rushed. Ben's story with Kristen needed to be resolved before I could be happy for him and Lara to admit their long-suppressed feelings for each other. When everything eventually fell into place it was magic. The orchard was a nice touch at the end and gave the sense of fate, that some things are just meant to be no matter how long it takes.

I read and reviewed Anything Could Happen on Netgalley in exchange for honest feedback. It was a pleasure to read this heartwarming and delightful novel. It tells a story about family relationships, romantic relationships and of second chances.
I loved all the many locations in this novel, namely New York, Cambridge and Scarborough. I adore reading novels set in exotic locations but it is very special to read books set locally. Give me a book set in Yorkshire any day and I’m guaranteed to really like it.
I was very happy to read this book. It held my interest throughout. I loved the main characters, liked reading about their up and downs in life, and found them relatable. I liked the writing style, character development and the plot. This book is a great read and I recommend it to other readers.

At 18, Eliza wants a relationship with her absent father, but finds that everything she thought she knew about him was wrong. She and her mother embark on a journey to New York to give Eliza the answers she wants, in a heart warming story of family.

The plot of this book is pretty slow, which is unfortunate. It was hard to get pulled in as a result, and it took me longer to finish than it should have. The ending was quite satisfying, but it did take a lot of effort to get there.

I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

What I thought about this book:

This is actually my first time reading anything Lucy Diamond has written and I will make sure to try out her other books.

Anything Could Happen started of with a really good beginning that was in an prologue. After reading that I knew I would like this book a lot.

So this story contains two big secrets hidden by Lara, one of the main characters, surprise you have a daughter, surprise your dad isn't your dad, a possible car theft, possible second chances, humor and sometimes you get 4 pov which really isn't hard to follow.
The story had a great flow during the reading and it wasn't too obvious what would happen at some points.

The characters are easy to like especially the daughter Eliza because in my opinion she made the story funnier with her ideas and thoughts.

I recommend this romantic feel-good book to those readers that just want an easy romantic feel-good without any spicy scenes in it but also to you who usually read romantic feel-goods with spicy scenes in it because it was a cute and funny likeable read.

I give this a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: single mom, friends to lovers

I enjoyed the book, but unfortunately it was far too long. There are many details and it is written from several perspectives.

Lucy Diamond tells us a life story. Lara, a single woman and Eliza's mother, has to tell her daughter the truth about her biological father. Throughout the book we see the difficulties that Lara and Ben have to go through to be together, but also how a father-daughter connection is formed between Ben and Eliza.

Thank you NetGalley, Quercus Books and Lucy Diamond for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first time reading Lucy Diamond and it won’t be my last.

Anything Could Happen is gloriously romantic, humorous and warm hearted story about love, second chances and the unexpected paths life can take us down. Lara and her daughter Eliza go on a journey to find the truth. The characters are easy to love and I enjoyed start to finish, it’s such an easy read. The locations are great as we get to experience Scarborough, Cambridge, Edinburgh and New York. It’s full of escapism, romance, hope and kindness. Definitely recommend. I couldn’t put it down.

I am a huge fan of Lucy Diamond and I was delighted to receive an early preview copy of this book.
This book was a little slow to start with, but then the pace soon picked up.
There were a lot of flashbacks and locations but I found the story easy to follow. It was well written and I liked the characters Lara and Ben.
This was a very enjoyable and heartwarming read. There were plenty of twists and turns along the way which kept me interested.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

I won't lie, I really struggled with this book. The main character, yes ok only 17/18, was incredibly selfish and I just couldn't get past it.
A nice plot idea but just not for me.

This is my first book by Lucy Diamond and based on this, it certainly won't be my last.

We follow Lara, Eliza and Ben on a journey of discovering who they are. For Lara and Ben, it's rediscovering who they were before life took them on a different path and for Eliza, it's working out who she is.
This book has some really emotional parts as well as some quite amusing parts. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you Netgalley and Quercus books for the chance to read an early copy of this book.

I thought this was a bit of a slow burner, but when it did get going I really enjoyed reading the story of Lara and her daughter Eliza who is on a mission to find her Dad.

Great story.

This book centres around Laura and Ben who meet in New York and fall in love. Circumstances get in the way and when Laura finds out she is pregnant she pins her hopes on her new boyfriend Steve, being the father. Fast forward 19 years and Eliza, Laura’s daughter is devastated when Steve walks out of her and her mothers lives. Laura has always protected Eliza from the truth but when she finds out Steve is not her biological father she sets out on a mission to find out who is.

Do people get second chances at love? When years have passed can the spark which brought young lovers together reignite? Or do events and other relationships get in the way? All these questions are answered in this twisty second chance story.

I love a feel good story and this book certainly delivered , after a slow start I was soon engrossed. I loved the wonderful ending which really brought the plot together in a satisfying way.
