I can't be the only one who was a bit confused after reading this surely? I did reread parts of it and I think I know what was going on but I'm not 100% sure!
I enjoyed the book but the main character drove me up the wall, why did she keep hiding things and lying it just made things all the worse for her. I would definitely read more from this author but this was not one of my favourites.

Sandie Jones is another new author I was introduced to through Netgalley.
This book is a sensational thriller that had me in its grip from page one. The story has a complexity I haven't seen in a long time in a domestic thriller. I was constantly left thinking are they telling the truth or just their 'version' of the truth to protect a dark secret? I can't say too much without spoiling the intricate plot, I will just say if you like a fast-paced, dark thriller then this is perfect, the ending totally took my breath away.

The Blame Game is the third book I've read by Sandie Jones and having enjoyed the others was looking forward to this. I loved the pace and is a real page turner and will keep you up into the early hours.

In this book we meet Naomi, a Psychologist who deals with domestic abuse cases. She seems to find it difficult to separate herself from her cases and will help her clients in any way they need it., even if it means going a bit too far... After she helps Jacob reach the decision to leave his wife, she moves him into the family's holiday apartment, but soon he disappears. The police get involved and all sorts of dark pasts and family relationships emerge.

A really good and exciting psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns, though I cant help thinking that Naomi brought on most of the problems herself.

Thanks to Pan Macmillan and Netgalley for the e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Naomi is a psychologist who specialises in domestic abuse, she also had a tendency to get a little to close to her clients in ways of helping them out of their situations.
I was looking forward to this book as I read Sandie's debut novel and thought it was great, this one however fell a little short for me. It felt a little slow to get into but when it did get going i became frustrated at how many lies Naomi was keeping when she didn't need too. Towards the end o was enjoying how the story was going and was looking forward to seeing it all unfold and finding out the answers to what was going on, unfortunately the ending left me with more questions than answers especially with regards to her sister, did she have anything to do with it?
Thank you to #netgalley for this ARC.

This was a quick, quite enjoyable read, although not memorable. I was often frustrated with the main character and the fact that she continually told lies and kept secrets from her husband or from the police, worsening her situation. The twists were not hard to predict, although the ending was overall well done, and the epilogue was a nice touch.

It's that most engaging of treats, a big, fat, intelligent thriller. It is a first-rate crime novelist's ability to lead his readers up the garden path….

A Dark Undercurrent..
Past and present collide in this twisty psychological suspense with a dark undercurrent. Naomi had vowed never to get too involved with her clients, never to get too close. As a therapist and a specialist in domestic abuse this was essential for her success in the field and to best serve her clients. When she meets one particular client, all this is discarded and she may just make the worst mistake that she ever has. A rollercoaster of suspicion and lies ensues. With a well crafted cast and an immersive storyline, an edgy and often disturbing tale.

I didn't find this one as good as previous books from this author, a bit slow in parts for me and I wasn't keen on the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for this ARC.

Totally unexpected ending that I didn’t see coming . Can’t rate this book highly enough , would give it a 10 if I could . Definitely can’t wait for the next from this author . 5 star book

Living in America, Naomi was brought up in a tremulous home, with her childhood ending in tragedy and the family being torn apart. As an adult having moved to the UK with her partner Leon, Naomi qualifies as a psychologist specializing in domestic abuse.

Getting too close to her clients was never Naomi’s plan, until she met Jacob. Not being able to help herself in getting involved, she is absorbed into Jacob’s world and supports him in leaving his abusive wife, offering him the spare flat that she owns with her husband.

When Jacob goes missing, the police ask Naomi some tough questions which brings to the surface the childhood that she has tried to lock away. As the police investigation unfolds, Naomi finds herself in the middle of it, taking steps to throw the police off the scent they believe they are correctly following. Around her, Naomi’s personal and profession life starts to crumble, whilst she holds on to her marriage by her fingertips. The evidence starts to pile up against Naomi, who doesn’t help herself by lying and concealing evidence.
The story culminates with Naomi’s past and present being brought together and things not being as they first appear.

I have loved Sandie’s previous books. Although I wouldn’t class this as my favourite, the pace at which the plot moves makes it a gripping and enjoyable read, with a twisted conclusion.

Quite a good book, pace was good, and it was a quick read. The end left me scratching my head though. Which was off-putting.

This was an enjoyable read and very well written. At times it did feel very much the same as Anatomy for a Scandal although in my opinion it's a better read.

I had previously read and enjoyed ‘The Other Woman’ by author Sandie Jones so I was really looking forward to this one. This is a little different to my regular reads but loved this twisty, suspenseful thriller. Great characters and fast paced.

Naomi is psychologist who specialises in domestic abuse, she enjoys her job but struggles not to get over involved in her patients lives. One of her current patients is Jacob who wants to leave his abusing wife and true to Naomi’s weakness offers him her spare flat to stay in. But when Jacob goes missing the police start asking Naomi some difficult questions that threaten to unveil her own dark secrets and put her life in danger.

A fast paced enjoyable read.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I was really enjoying this, the story was intriguing and the pacing was very good.

I didn't understand the ending, I've read it twice and I'm still no further forward so unfortunately after loving the book up until that point, I'm left scratching my head with lots of loose ends.

Naomi is a psychologist specialising in domestic abuse. From the start, we see her going above and beyond for her clients, often too far. But after helping a male, Jacob, in an abusive relationship, maybe she's gone too far this time, as she is losing the trust of her husband. Then everything really starts to unravel.

The twists come thick and fast in this wild mystery. I did not know who was telling the truth and part of it did leave me a little confused. While it was a fast paced read, I needed to slow down in parts to really pay attention to all of the characters. This was another thoroughly enjoyable novel by the author and the lies and deception definitely kept me guessing.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for this gifted review copy.

Therapist Naomi is working with a patient, Jacob, who has suffered abuse from his wife. In her quest to help Jacob, she alienates her husband and gives the impression of having an improper relationship with her patient. Jacob goes missing and Naomi is the main suspect. Her behavior has been suspicious but she wonders if the real culprit is setting her up to take the blame.

This was a fairly short read that picked up once Jacob went missing. I was satisfied with the conclusion to that story, but was still wondering about aspects of Naomi's family situation when all was said and done. I also thought the beginning was a little slow.

I received this copy to provide a review.
