Out of Love is the second book in the Switch series by Ruth Cardello. Scott and his twin brother Jesse have switched places while Jesse handles a big business issue with his brother's farm. He is told to STAY PUT at Jesse's apartment, but of course Scott doesn't listen and decides to go to Jesse's office.

Scott and Monica of course met under completely false pretenses, but that really did keep me coming back for more from the get go. I wanted to keep reading more and more to get to know and like Monica better, because I will say, she wasn't my absolute favorite from the start. But of course, Ruth managed to turn her around and get me to love her!

This was another enjoyable read by Ruth, will definitely be a longtime fan of hers!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is the book where we hear about Scott's side of the twin switch and how he handles things when he meets Monica.

I love that along with the romance is a back story of drama and a bit of mystery as Scott notices the numbers are off and that Jesse did catch on. As Scott keeps pretending to be Jesse, he gets deeper and deeper into trouble as his attraction to Monica grows. You know that when she finds out - it won't go well.

Scott has such a great family and then adds to it with his new brothers - Jesse and Thane just as Monica has a great relationship with her Aunt Bibi.

Great wrap up and loved that Thane now is going to look into his adoption! Will he have a twin as well?

Since Strictly Business and Out of Love are basically two sides of a coin, of course I had to read it.

In strictly Business we have met Jesse, who turned out to be Scott’s twin brother. In Out of Love, we can read about Scott’s adventures while posing as Jesse. Since the brothers traded places, both books happen at the same time. I found this side of the story, however, a bit better than strictly Business. As I mentioned in my review of that book, that I found the story unfolding too slow.

Out of Love is written in a higher pace and I found Scott’s character a lot more likeable than Jesse. So, this story was more fun I think. And looking at the goodreads scores, I’m not the only one thinking so.

Therefore, four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Emotionally thrilling and action-packed journey filled with interesting and engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists, thrilling turns and undeniable passion. An edge of your seat emotional journey from beginning to end that was so hard to put down.

This is a great series. I loved Scott and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. So fun!

Scott’s life has evolved into something he doesn’t recognize as not only does he meet Jesse, a twin brother he knew nothing about, but that Jesse believes the best way to save Scott’s family farm is by taking over each other’s lives. Although he is supposed to keep a low profile when Scott ventures to Jesse’s office, he will meet a woman who will change everything.

Monica is the daughter of one of Jesse’s clients and she is a woman on a mission. When she meets Scott, she believes he is Jesse and the sparks fly. She is conflicted about her attraction to Scott but between the secrets he is keeping and the suspicious business activity you know they are in for a bumpy ride.

Brought together by their families the romance between Scott and Monica was complicated. He finds himself trying to protect both Jesse, the family he didn’t know he had, and Monica, the woman who claimed his heart while trying to uncover the truth before it is too late.

This was a great way to spend a couple of evenings. I enjoyed the characters and their banter. The plot was interesting and fairly unique with the right amount of twists and turns. All in all a very enjoyable read.

This book was the second in the series by this author. Following twin brothers who swap lives to try to help the other, this is the second in the series that follows Scott as he settles into his life pretending to be a successful businessman and ends up falling for his brother’s clients daughter!
I found this book easy to read but not as enjoyable as the first book in the series but a light read nether less. Thank you to @netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Scott has only been pretending to be his twin brother for a few days and he is already in deep. What happens when he starts falling for someone, but they think he is someone else?!? Monica is having feelings she wasn’t expecting. What happens when she learns the truth? Scott and his twin are getting more then they expect when they agreed to this swap. This was a cute story. It dragged a little on and off for me and was a bit far fetched. But in all the characters were interesting and the story was good. I would definitely read another book by this author.

A great addition to the series!

I finished the first book, and was excited to grab this audio on Kindle Unlimited so I could find out more about Scott's side of the story.

Monica's entire focus in life has been to make her dad proud, even at the expense of her own happiness. I loved watching her get a backbone and fight for what she wants in life.

Scott has a genuine affection for his farm, and an undeniable love for the animals. He switches places with his twin brother, and I greatly appreciate how he kept his distance from Monica until he could be honest with her.

I honestly enjoyed this story even more than the first one, and was pleasantly surprised by the teasing cliffhanger hinting for more in the series!

Here's why this book was for me...

Monica loneliness and wants.
Her relationship with her dad.
The way her guard was up do to how she felt after her mom passed.
The way she associated her wants with death and loss.

So in turn the huge news of Scott's heart was ultimately what she needed to live in the present.

Slow burn, fun times, and crazy events.

. I was not sure how I would feel about this book.

. . . And now I already have book 1 and the promised book 3 on my my wish list!

Although the author leaves the bedroom door open I was so involved with the story and characters that a few adjectives and verbs didn't really bother me.

Now ya'll know what MaMa would have done.

But my Jazzy Grandma was so much like Nicole's aunt that she would be adding those other titles and a few more to her TBR pile!

The romance between Scott and Nicole did get off to a rocky start but they couldn't help liking each other and falling in love.

There were definitely some 'crack me up' moments like when Nicole goes to Scott's farm and meets the animals. Especially one that stole Nicole's heart.

The book is the second in the series about 3 brothers. It was easy to step in at book 2.

All the characters are well developed. And there are alot of them. Including the 3 brothers. Scott's adoptive parents, Nicole's, Nicole's dad, Jazzy aunt, Crystal who chooses Nicole for a bestie after they both become engaged to the twins.

And several more interesting people you will have to meet on your own.

The ending . . .

. . . Well it ended with a bit of a cliffhanger leading into Thane the 3rd brothers romance.

I kind of missed the Happily Ever After part for Scott and Nicole.

I plan to read Jesse and Crystal 's romance. And Thanes when it is released .

I received my a complimentary copy from Harlequin and Netgalley.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

Monica and Scott were so incredibly different. At least on paper. As time goes on, you can see that they do have some similarities. Being highly intelligent was just one of those similarities. Both are also hiding part of who they really are, even from people that they love. Scott is also dealing with me family members who really underestimate him and he has let them. He's not sure that they are really on his side. Normally a trusting man, he's going to have to look at some people with a new perspective.
I have to admit that I had mixed feelings about this book because it wasn't my favorite in this series. BUT, it did have parts that I liked so much that I just had to give it a good rating. Monica's Aunt Bibi was just one of those things that made me smile..often. And Bibi's best friend, Deja who is describes as her ride-or-die bestie also made me smile. The two of them together were a hoot! And their 1-10 Rhyme was hilarious. And Bibi was Team Monica all the way! I really enjoyed their relationship with all the laughs, love, emotional support and even some times Bibi had to be a bit stern.
Towards the end, its easy to see why the title really fit this story. I like when that happens. Speaking of ending this book did have a pretty good one. With a door left open for another adventure in the series.

" I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book . And these are my honest opinions about it.”

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series, and you absolutely need to read them in order. I absolutely love the premise of the books, and am really looking forward to the next one, given the revelations at the very end of this one!!

In the first book, we experience what happens to Jesse when he decides that he needs to step in to save his newly discovered twin, Scott, from losing his farm to an oil company. It is funny and sweet and ultimately gives us a very different perspective on Scott than we had expected – beans... all I need to say!

In this installment, we get what happened to Scott when he was dropped into Jesse's home and told to wait until Jesse had sorted everything out... It is a lot of fun seeing it from Scott's side – especially the instructions on animal care, given Jesse (as Scott) should know how to care for his farm.

Just as Jesse couldn't stick to the plan, nor could Scott – as he goes into Jesse's office to see how his brother lives and works. Well from meeting Monica, and duping her, and annoying his newly discovered adopted bug brother, things are a little more complicated than he expected. Most complicated of all are his feelings for Monica, and the dread of coming clean of his deception.

This mirrored Jesse's issue at the farm, and I very much enjoyed cringing on Scott's behalf as he got himself into such a mess – and amused that the beans were once again going to be important!

If you are ready to suspend belief (which is, after all, the point of reading much fiction), then this is a fun and easy read – enjoy!

Having a twin can be fun, you switch places, share clothes, and know what the other is thinking. But growing up not knowing you have a twin can be shocking. Scott is a farmer and Jesse is a businessman, total opposites.

When Scott needs help with his farm, Jesse offers to pretend to be him to keep the vultures away. While Scott gets to spend time living in Jesse's condo and he goes to Jesse's job. Each learns something about the other and it helps them want to learn more.

I loved the first book and this one was even better as we get Scott's point of view. There is an aspect of intrigue and suspense to the story that will keep you pulled into it and that is what makes it a great duo. I recommend this author, she has a way of making you fall for the characters and loving the stories in the end.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆
M/F Romance

I did not read book one in this series.

Scott has figured out that he has a twin. When his twin believes that he can stop the oil company that is pursuing Scott's farm, they decide to switch places. However, when things don't go quite as planned, Scott decides that he's done staying hidden.

Monica is strong and dedicated. She is intelligent and knows that she can go far in life. However, she is scared to not work and not be known for her work.

While this is a cute story, it was somewhat one dimensional. There is no depth to the characters. Also, the main characters seem to be all incredibly similar. Everyone is good looking, smart, and dedicated.

So, while this was a quick read that is entertaining, it is very quick because there isn't much to the story.

Jesse Rehoboth saw a picture on the cover of a magazine that looked exactly like him. Through email and DNA test he finds out the Scott Millville and him were separated at birth. Both brought up differently. Jesse in business and Scott on the farm. Now that an oil company is trying to buy the land, Jesse feels he needs to come to the rescue. So they were supposed to switch for a days. Only love captured his heart. Scott is having the same thing. How do they go back to their lives and tell the women they've fallen in love with? Crystal is angry but more forgiving. Monica is different. Can she walk away from the family business and live on the farm? Love and home is where the heart is.

I loved Strictly Business so much that this one was not what I was expecting.
Scott just found out he has an identical twin. He’d love the idea if he wasn’t an arrogant, overconfident businessman who is determined to save his farm even though he is in no danger of losing it. When Scott agreed to switch lives with him, it was supposed to be for a couple of hours. He was supposed to lie low, meet no one, and let him deal with the oil company that was sniffing around his property. Hours drag into days. Now he is sitting at his desk, mostly minding his own business, when a beautiful woman blusters in, ready for a confrontation about an email. She’s the daughter of his brother’s largest client.
He starts flirting with her, but Monica is all business, even though she is really attracted to him. But suddenly, he uncovers a plan to sabotage both companies and he has to make her see that his feelings for her are real and he is indeed the man she’s falling in love with.
I liked this book. Scott is a great character. He’s sweet, considerate and strong minded. And so so optimistic that inspires you. His parents are adorable and his animals too (specially Bella, the pig). It’s impossible not to adore him from the beginning. I wasn’t a fan of Monica, thought. Some could emphasize with her because she is really smart and sensitive but in my case, I didn’t feel connected to her.
This is a insta-love story but so slow burn that it drags a bit too much for me. The second part of the book is way better and the ending is really good. I enjoyed the side characters a lot and I’ll be waiting for Thane’s story because I know Ruth Cardello is a great author.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A great read, the second in this series. Jesse and Scott have not long found they were twins, and have swapped places. When Jesse starts to fall for Monica, who thinks he is Scott, will everything fall apart.
Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Out of Love is the second book in the Switch series, and I did receive the ARC of this, but to be honest I just wasn't in the mood for this one here. I then transferred from the Audio to the ARC back and forth, as I was struggling with the pacing of the story. I am not sure if it wasn't just my mood that I was experiencing or if it was the writing itself. Normally Ruth Cardello pulls me in so quickly into books, so I was surprised that I struggled with this one. It might mean sticking with her audiobooks for this series moving forward.

I did find the set up of the story to be quite intriguing. A farmer that is a bit of a scientist and is posing as a rich mogul haha there is a instant love connection vibe to the romance, the chemistry is solid within the story and there is some solid groveling and character growth. I did enjoy seeing what we see within the heroine. I also liked that the "secret" of the mistaken identity isn't dragged out all the way with the book. There is a strong sense of family within this one. I did enjoy seeing the strong connection of the parental love that is focused in this book. And I really enjoyed seeing the heroine come into her own strength especially in learning to fight for what she wants and seeing the relationship with her father getting more depth to it and get some truths revealed there. I found the romance itself to be quite endearing though. I loved how the heroine didn't force the hero to grovel too long, that she was able to see his side of it and be forgiving of it.

If you are a fan of this author, then this is definitely going to be an enjoyable addition to her works for you!

In Out of Love, the second part of Ruth Cardello’s latest duology, Scott must deal with having a very sudden, very powerful twin and the sudden onset of romantic feelings for the daughter of one of his brother’s clients. The end result is charming and romantic, if slightly silly and uncomplicated with insta-lust.

Jesse Rehoboth is a powerful executive with a large family, and he’s startled to learn that he has an identical twin brother who was adopted at birth. Scott Millwood, a simple farmer who enjoys tilling the land and wants to return there posthaste, is equally startled, but a DNA test proves their connection. Jesse’s mother wants Scott to be part of the family and for him to come to know his many aunts, uncles and cousins – and Scott needs Jesse’s help, because an oil baron is trying to force Scott off of his land so he can steal the beans Scott’s been growing to use as a cheap fuel source. Jesse’s solution to this is simple – Scott will lay low in Jesse’s house while Jesse poses as Scott to outdo the oil baron (for Jesse’s side of the swap, see book one, Strictly Business). A bored Scott dresses up in Jesse’s suit and poses as him at the office. Then a pretty lady walks in and his life changes.

Scott finds himself attracted to Monica Bellerwood, the daughter of one of Jesse’s clients, who is in the process of helping build a life-support system for a space station. Unfortunately, Monica thinks Scott is Jesse and is thrown for a loop by Jesse’s sudden display of animal love and simpler values. Will she understand when he explains what he’s done? Or is a relationship between them a non-starter? It’s all easier said than done when an enemy of Jesse’s tries to kill Scott.

Cardello has become well-known for her complicated family tales, and Out of Love is no exception. You have the fun family feelings, you have the angsty love story complicated by stubbornness and lies, and you have tons of intrigue to fascinate yourself with. The book’s weakest point is that Monica and Scott are pretty instantly in love, and much of the conflict is milled from the twin switcheroo, so it’s one of those ‘don’t-blurt-out-the-secret-of-the-show-or-part-of-the plot-falls-apart] books. And the whole plot is pretty silly – Scott ending up being mistaken for Jesse simply because he’s so bored in seclusion he thinks walking around in Jesse’s suit at the office will liven his life up - but I’ve honestly seen sillier plot twists in other romances over time.

The romance is generally spicy but the best part of the book is the genuinely successful assassination plot. Corporate intrigue is hard to write in a fresh way, but Cardello knows how to do this. This isn’t an A-tier book, but it’s still a fairly fun ride.
