Another fantastic book from Dorothy Koomson. I think she is one of those authors where you’ll know you’ll enjoy her story, no matter what the plot line is.

This is another fantastic book and I really enjoyed the story line. So many of my theories were wrong but I did actually get quite a few right. Loved it!

Thank you so much for another great book! Can’t wait for your next! Eek

Love, compliance, obsession, possession, control,; destruction, demise...
An interesting tale. The characters were relatable.
A book with quite slow energy to begin with, however it did get more lively as the story progressed.

I absolutely loved this! The book felt a bit different to Koomson's other books. The book is a slow burn but it is still electrifying. Koomson, as always, has created some wonderful characters as well. There are some really interesting subjects included throughout the book and it made for addictive reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and Headline for an advance copy.

My Other Husband started slow for me but picked up pace at about a quarter of the way in and had some good twists.
Cleo is the main character here and her story is told over two timelines that for this book worked well. The before is of Cleo’s time at university and her time with Heath who becomes obsessed with her and does anything to make sure she stays with him and the the now timeline sees Cleo who was happily married to Wallace but is now divorcing him. She is an author and her books are being adapted for a tv series, some have already been shown with a good response but there have been murders in the area and they are killed like some of them are in her books. Cleo is being set up but by whom and why?
I enjoyed this book and the twists along the way were very well thought through, the characters although there were quite a few of them I didn’t get them mixed up as they were portrayed well.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This is everything a thriller should be, packed full of suspicion, suspense and shocking twists.

Koomson writes with such detail that the world you are reading becomes your own and you become powerless when you try to put the book down!

I would recommend this to thriller readers whether battle worn or brand new, this is a tour de force you don’t want to miss.

I’m a huge fan of the author and have read all of her books. I couldn’t wait to read The Other Husband and had high hopes for the book. Thankfully, I loved it. It has everything I’ve come to expect from the author; seemingly innocuous domestic setting, action, drama, plenty of thrills and a lot of twists and turns. I kept changing my mind about what Cleo’s secrets were and discovered I was way off track when all the cards were laid on the table. This is a terrific domestic thriller.

I did slightly struggle with this, I just found the whole relationship between Cleo and Heath unfathomable.
Heath has an unhealthy obsession with Cleo from the moment he first sets eyes on her. From then on he does things that stop Cleo from leaving him.
I found the pace quite slow. It wasn't until near the end when Cleo is being framed for murder that it picks up.
I have read a couple of books by Dorothy and this one has by no means put me off reading more.
Thanks to Netgalley and Headline for the opportunity to read

Another brilliant book from the always amazing Dorothy Koomson.
I couldn't put it down.
The pace is just right to keep me reading and the characters so beautifully drawn it was easy to connect with them which I love in a book.
There are plenty of twists and turns and an ending I didnt see coming.
The book gripped me from the first page and I thought about this book days after finishing it.
I can;t recommend this book highly enough

One of my most anticipated releases for 2022 and it absolutely did not disappoint! Dorothy Koomson is my all time favourite author and I’m yet to read anything I didn’t like from her, this is no exception.

The plot draws you in immediately and does not let up! Narrated by Cleo, over two different timelines of past and present, the pacing is fast and exciting - forever needing to know more information. The twists and turns as everything unfolds was second to none and every time you think you’d worked something out, you hadn’t!

There are some very dark, and in parts disturbing, aspects to the story but all done really well in a way that thoroughly hooked me. There was a lot of angst and emotion in the writing and you fully felt it all - sometimes I wanted to scream at Cleo and ask her what the hell she was doing.

A story of obsession, lies and suspense, slowly unravelling into a twisted and unexpected ending. I was totally drawn in and kept guessing throughout - which I love!

As always, totally recommend to anyone! If you haven’t read anything by this author already, you need to and I will shout about it until you do 😂 Another massive 5 star read for me!!

Dark unpredictable thriller that kept me guessing all the way through. I actually gasped when the final twist was revealed.
I love the setting of Brighton and the complex characters never disappoint.

I really enjoyed the dual timeline and as you'd expect from Dorothy the plot was expertly planned and the characters so well developed. The storyline was really original and I enjoyed it immensely.

Cleo Forsum is a successful author with a series of books behind her, many of which have been turned into a popular TV show. But her life soon begins to unravel as attacks and murders of people she has connections with begin.
A slow beginning but the middle and ending had me gripped. The story is told on a dual timeline following Cleo’s current marriage to Wallace and her time at university where she met Heath. The two lives begin to collide with deathly consequences.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dorothy Koomson and for this ARC in return for an honest review. M

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! What a fantastic book. I always enjoy Dorothy Koomson books but I don’t know when I last read a book I didn’t want to end.
Telling the story of Cleo and how meeting and getting involved with Heath at Uni changes the pattern of everyone involved with Cleo’s life.
When Cleo gets together with Heath he develops an unhealthy obsession with her and nobody is safe.
When Cleo meets Wallace her life seems to settle down and she has a very happy life. Then back comes Heath with his unhealthy obsession.
Can Cleo ever escape from her life with Heath or is she destined to spend the rest of her life dancing to his tune.
This was such a gripping page turner that was filled with lots of twists and turns. Just when I thought Heath couldn’t surprise me any more he did.
A massive thank you to NetGalley and Headline for this amazing book.

Like the other Dorothy Koomson novels I’ve read (The Brighton Mermaid and I Know What You’ve Done), My Other Husband is mainly set in Brighton where the author lives. I have to admit, this is a huge plus point for me as Brighton is my hometown, so I love reading novels set there.

That is, of course, not the only reason I loved My Other Husband. This book is a masterclass in perfectly-timed plot reveals, 3D characters and a very clever what-can-possibly-happen-next atmosphere that keeps you turning those pages.

There is a split timeline so in the present, Cleo is an author – her book, The Baking Detective, is being adapted into a successful TV series and she’s working on the scripts. She is married to Wallace but is divorcing him, not for any reason you would ever guess, though…

In the split timeline we also meet a younger Cleo when she was at university in Leeds. Her best friend, Trina and boyfriend, Heath are huge parts of her life, both past and present.

Back in the present, Cleo finds herself under police scrutiny as murders start to occur that mimic the way Cleo crafted deaths for her Baking Detective series. Something sinister is at play. Who is trying to frame Cleo and just why is she pressing self-destruct on a life she is seemingly happy with?

I absolutely loved the way the story in My Other Husband revealed itself. I won’t say any more as I don’t want to put spoilers in this review but trust me, this is such a unique story – I haven’t read a thriller with something similar, so good!

As well as the main plot, Dorothy Koomson also makes important social commentary on how Black characters are removed or stereotyped from novels and TV shows and how it has to stop.

Another excellent Dorothy Koomson thriller, couldn’t put it down!

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Review for my advance copy of #MyOtherHusband by #DorothyKoomson
This is Cleo’s story, narrated by her over 25 years, but it’s also the story of obsession and what it will drive some people to do.
It starts off slow but the second half races by when Cleo is joined in narrating by Abi.
I did enjoy the book but I found it hard to believe that these things can happen.
Saying that, truth is stranger than fiction, which is a very scary thought.

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first Koomson book (even though I've had one of her previous books on my shelf for the last 11 years, it's moved with me 7 times!), so I didn't really know what to expect. Somehow the first few chapters read like any other women's fiction book to me, especially because I chuckled quite a few times. Only later I realised there was something sinister going on...
I found the story interesting, albeit not super believable. There were simply too many things where I thought "seriously?!". I also thought it dragged a bit in the middle. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and will be reading more of her books now, starting with the one I already own.

The story starts with Cleo, who is very happily married, filing for divorce. The reason why is told through a series of flashbacks to her previous life.

This is one of the most gripping books I have read in a long time. The plot is complex and intricately woven together, but is revealed gradually is such a clever way that it completely draws the reader in. Sometimes when a plot is complex, I lose track of some elements of it, but I was able to follow all the twists and turns.

The author has included some seriously disturbed characters in this book! I can’t say that I like all of the characters but I was certainly intrigued by them.

This is a brilliantly executed thriller and I will be reading more of the author’s work.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A character driven domestic drama which is a real page turner.
Cleo loves her husband Wallace but she plans to divorce him ... she will not tell anyone the real reason. In the Prologue Cleo is under arrest for murder! Following what has been happening is interspersed with what has led to this since 1996.
Cleo's friend Heath is obsessed with her - unhealthily so. She is his friend and helps him change his image so he is popular with other young women. But Heath wants Cleo.
The main part of this story is a slow burner but the characterisation keeps the interest of the reader.
Gradually the pace of the story increases and the tension is ramped up.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Dorothy Koomson/Headline for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love a Dorothy Koomson book and this lives up to the quality of her previous work.

Cleo and Trina meet at college and spot the brooding Heath almost immediately staring at Cleo. They befriend him and Cleo helps update his style and eventually they fall in love. However the love is toxic as he is infatuated with her and will stop at nothing to keep her.

Years later Cleo is again in a relationship with Heath and at an evening class meets Sidney who she learns more than just creative writing, he encourages her to escape. Tragedy strikes and Cleo desperately tries to help Sidney’s family, becoming involved with his brother Wallace.

Great characters, good plotting and a good ending. Highly recommended.
