Absolutely adored this book. It was deep and personal and I was transfixed by the characters and storytelling. It was intense and passionate and a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but I was hooked. I rather admired Tia Williams' ability to storytell through her writing and characterisations of primary characters. As this is my first book by her, I was really impressed by how well her writing hooked me.

Eva and Shane had a Romeo-Juliet romance, and I love reimaginings of this famous fictional coupling. Especially because they didn't die.

I thought that Eva's chronic migraines were discussed openly and with the respect these illnesses deserve. I thoroughly enjoy books that deal with chronic illness or unseen disabilities in a real and open way, as well as showing respect to the people who deal with this in the real world. It's not often depicted in fiction or depicted well, so it was refreshing to read about the heroine's illness in such a deferential way.

Overall, I loved this book. I'm just torn about my rating, but I think I'll stick to a 4.25/5★ for now!

Thank you to Netgalley and Tia Williams for this arc!

I can't even describe how much I loved this book !! This book was just what I needed... loved it all !!

15 years ago, Eva and Shane fell in love and for 7 days in June, they were completely obsessed and entwined in each other. They understood each other the way no on else had, until one day it was over and they moved on without each other. Fast forward 15 years, Eva is now a best selling erotica author with a daughter. Shane is also a best selling author and a mentor to young kids who were like him. Shane knows he needs to get back to Eva, but is scared she will reject him... Can he make her love him again in just 7 days ?? (just typing this is giving me chills)

I LOVED everything about this book !! Eva and Shane are sooo in love and its so perfect. I loved how the author shows us the first time they fell in love, where they are at in their lives, why they clung to each other so much..and why it hurt so bad when it was over. I also loved the people they became because of that pain. Eva has a chronic disability she's been dealing with her whole life, and now she is a mom and is working her ass off to make sure her daughters life is better, such a strong woman. Shane is a recovering alcoholic and is trying to figure out how to live life and help others overcome obstacles he couldn't when he was younger.

I loved the characters separate but together they were perfect. This story to me is what true love is... once you know, you know. it doesn't matter how long you've been apart, just hearing their name or seeing their face send chills through your body. it was so beautiful and perfect. The diversity I feel is very important in this book as well. I loved how raw and real this was and how the author went deep into the love and their lives together and apart. One of my favorites of the year !!! Definitely recommend !!!

Now let me start by saying I am probably having an unpopular opinion here but there is a book out there for everyone and this is simply not for me. I think this heavily depends though on your definition of love.

To me this book started off strong and then relatively quickly landed on okay. Now let me explain why. The portrayal of Eva's chronic condition is full of empathy and understanding and I did like that. I however see Eva's and Shane's teenage relationship as highly highly dysfunctional. From the way they met to how they spent their time. To how self harm gets portrayed.
Moreover both having grown up the way they have grown up and then reaching success and all that plus the references seemed pretty cliche to me. Overall I felt it drifted from something that could have been very deep to something very superficial.

Now I do see that it is to try to criticise our society I just think there are books out there who have done it better.

It is an okay read and I definitely think it has its audience and people who will absolutely love it. From me it's a 3 star rating. It was overall okay.

So what would have happened if Romeo & Juliet did not die? This is the question the author Tia Williams poses.

Her star crossed lovers Shane & Eva meet again at a literary event. Now successful authors, it is clear they have history. The electricity sparks off them …… and we are all in.

Eva is searching for a change of direction but has responsibilities & just doesn’t know how to make the leap. She’s a single mum to the wonderfully written Audre. She also suffers hugely debilitating migraines which rock her world & her confidence.

She & Shane met as troubled teenagers. Can this past help or hinder them finding their way back to each other? Will their obvious passion be enough of a scaffold to build a new alliance that won’t be just for seven days?

Will our Romeo & Juliet live, find each other again or yet will passion come to nought?

I’ll let you read the book to find out & it really is worth the read. This is a smart & sexy novel. A love story yes but also about damage, survival, resilience, courage & realism. The main characters leap of the page & I loved them. Also buy the book just for the opening page, just that alone!

This book has already taken the US by storm & has been optioned for a TV series just like her previous book The Perfect Find.

Tia Williams is new to me but a wonderful find. Oh & if you want to ask “what have I been doing with my life?” & then weep, just look up her bio - she is one impressive woman.

By Tia Williams

I found it! Finally! The romance that I couldn't put down.
It has been a long search but here it is. A beautiful but real, romantic but gritty, fully immersive love story that I didn't want to end.
But to be fair, to call this a romance is such an understatement. It is so much more.
We have amazing characters, Eva, who suffers with debilitating migraine yet is strong and independent, a successful author and a fabulous mother to Audre, who is a 12 year old cyclone of togetherness and sass. Shane, a broody, reclusive successful author who has so many demons but is sex on legs and creates so much chemistry with Eva. Cece, I love her. Our romantic pair have a past, but life dealt neither of them a fair hand, so prepare for some sadness and heartbreak, addiction, self harm, abandonment, unresolved guilt. The tension is real.
The writing is excellent, my fluff alert never sounded. I was fully engaged in rooting for everyone and I appreciated the steam and romps.
Thanks to #netgalley and #quercus for the ARC

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I loved this book. I had seen it hyped a lot on social media so wasn’t sure it would live up to expectations but it definitely did. On the surface this is an enjoyable romance with excellent chemistry and character relationships. However it also has a greater depth which allowed discussion and representation of important issues such race and mental health, which I felt was very well done.
Definitely a 5 star read for me!

Absolutely impeccable. Beautiful, emotional, funny at times, heartbreaking, raw. This book is just insane. In the best way. I enjoyed it from the very first page and didn’t want it to end. An absolutely joyous read, and one that will stick with me for a long time.

My 3⭐️s doesn’t mean that it’s a bad book. For me it was a solid read and I kind of understand the hype around it, but it didn’t blow my mind.

Honestly I was very skeptic in the beginning. I needed to get used to the writing style and I didn’t liked the first few chapters. After Eva and Shane met properly I was fine with the plot.
Other thing I was dad about that we only get two or three flashbacks of the year 2004 and I would’ve been happy if we get a complex background story about those seven days. But because the two mc was under drugs and had really bad mental health I get it why we didn’t get a clear picture. However I wanted to know more about Eva family’s backstory because that was too interesting for me.
I saw that so many people says it’s a second chance romance, but I disagree with that. Eva and Shane met in the worst circumstances and I barely could call their seven days relationship love, rather lust.
When they met after 15 years they were way better people and I was delighted their character development and the way they talked or they handled their mental issues in the past (yes Shane needs more therapy after the ending). Eva was very strong and amazing mother I liked her character. I also liked Shane. But their relationship in the present happened too fast. I was hoping their new chance together will be slow burn so we truly understand how far they’ve made.
I didn’t care about the different povs - I was happy with only Eva and Shane - and there were other people’s pov I wanted to skip so bad. And oh that loooooong epilogue. Could’ve been shorter.
But I was happy with the outcome with the story. It’s truly amazing and meaningful and like I said I get it why people
love it so much.

Single mother, Eva Mercy is also a bestselling erotica writer, who is experiencing writers block. She is at a turning point in her career and when she unexpectedly meets the award-wining literary author, Shane Hall at an event in New York, the past comes back with all its force. What is not known to the NY Black literati, is that twenty years ago, they spent one torrid week madly in love. On meeting again, their chemistry is unavoidable, and the fact that they have been revealing their feelings to each other, in their own books is telling.
The two main characters are both flawed which adds to the complexity of the storyline. This is a realistic romance, with all the baggage of their past experiences, their successes and failures, and their ability to resurrect themselves, with the help of each other. The chemistry between Eva and Shane, is quite intense and some of the best lines, come when they start to reveal their feelings and past hurts.
This was such a great read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and Quercus Books. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
I give this book 4.25 stars
My thoughts
This is an intense love story filled with emotion. But with a much deeper backstory to it which made it stand out for me.The author has created human flawed main characters that have so much depth and angst. Audre (Eva’s daughter) added something extra to the book for me.The moving storyline flowed seamlessly between past and present and both timelines were equally satisfying.Shane and Eva’s journeys were dark and heartfelt but interspersed with lighter moments and there’s a bit of steam included to.
l was left wanting another book!
With thanks to Netgalley, Tia Williams and Quercus Books for my chance to read and review this.
Book description
When Shane and Eva meet at a literary event, sparks fly. What no one knows is that 15 years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love. While they may now be pretending not to know each other, they can't deny the fact that they've been secretly writing to one another in their books throughout the years.
Over the next 7 days, Eva and Shane reconnect………

This book was such a pleasant surprise. I loved the characters, the story, the humour, heartbreak and love in this book. I loved all the creativity, the art and writing. I liked the fact that the main character decided not to hide her chronic illness any longer either. Many people suffer from these hidden disabilities and it’s great that somebody has the courage to talk about them like the writer of Seven Days In June does.
I like how strong the main character is. This book is such an unexpected gem and although it is first book I’ve read by this author I know that it won’t be the last. I would love to read more in the future. I fell in love with the writing style, the plot, the love story and the characters in this book.
This novel definitely deserves 5 stars, I would probably give it 6 if I could. I recommend it to other readers as I know that you’ll love it. A perfect read for June I think.

This book is brilliant and you should all read it! Such warm and honest character descriptions that make you feel like you’re sitting and having a chat with them, you know them so well. We see the way Eva and Shane’s upbringings shape them to be the people they are in the book and how their childhoods impact their decisions as adults. A fabulous book that will make you feel all the emotions. Be prepared!

My favourite part of this book was the great pop culture references! The dialogue was great too. The story itself was a little predictable but the passion was intense between the two main characters. Overall I enjoyed it.

A passionate, powerful, tender, love story about the power of relationships, the healing nature of writing as expression, and the ways our families, communities and past experiences shape the people we become. This novel was beautifully written with complex and authentic characters and a well thought out plot. Simply stunning, it blew me away

What a tasty book. Equal parts juicy, steamy, hilarious, and heartwarming. It's everything I didn't know I needed to read right now.

REVIEW: Yes, a big F… YES! Thank you for the EPILOGUE!
I loved the book! It has character, is well written, and talk about illness that usually no one wants to write about it because is not perfect and maybe people will be uncomfortable? I don´t know, but this book has heart, is funny and has a really sweet moments. I almost cried…
I like the main characters Eva and Shane, but the daughter, Audre, is top! They are writers, that´s always a good element.
I read it in 24 hours, and now I want a second part!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thankyou to Netgalley and Tia Williams for allowing me to read this proof copy of Seven Days In June.

Ugh where do I start??? This is a 5 star read from me, firstly. I absolutely love books that are about authors and book related content so I just knew I was going to like this.

Eva and Shane's relationship had me smiling and shouting at my phone screen, but that's what I loved about them, true soulmates and will always come back to each other.

Audre is a queen, and my favourite character. She had such iconic, hilarious lines but still felt like a normal, 12 year old school girl, finding her way through life.

The structure of the book I loved, going through each day and I could see every location that was described, in my head.

Yep, this was a fantastic read and it's officially been added to my 5 star pile. Check out my bookstagram @jessreadthat for a review of this coming in June 2022.

This is a fantastic book!! It focuses on 32-year-old Eva Mercy, a best-selling erotica writer .It has everything ..romance, humour and sadness. The characters are likeable. It does however tackles some darker issues such as traumatic childhoods, self harm, drug use and debilitating medical conditions. A great read!

Tia Williams did an impeccable job of making me feel every single emotion of her characters in this book - heartbreak, love, desperation, pain, grief, all of it. This is the kind of book that I know the themes and the characters will stick with me for a long time. Must read!
