I'm German and some of the topics of the book aren't as much "ours" as americans and yet I'd recommend the book to everyone interested in these kind of books.
It's a unique construction here as the book starts, relates and ends with quotes - quotes from people in the far away past, nowadays voices and anyone in between. At first I wasn't sure if this concept is working for me but it did. It fits - topic and quotes, and quite a few "aha-moments" I had. In some ways, so it seems, we and our world and our issues haven't changed so much, they intensified but the basic was there all along.
Great research - must have taken endless time to find all these quotes!

Thanks so much, dear publisher and Netgalley, for the chance to read this book!

America… Standing strong by Robert J Emery is supposed to be a commentary on The deterioration of our democracy and for the most part it is. I found the chapters interesting in the book overall pretty good I just thought it was overburdened with so many quotes. They had more quotes than commentary in the book both historical and modern day quotes from doctors, professors newspaper writers ET see it is if he let the quotes move the book along only there were so many it really did it. Also they had a chapter on dictators and I was so shocked that he didn’t mention Kim Jong-Il I mean if you would ask the average American to name a dictator he would probably be the first one but he didn’t even get a mention. I do agree with the commentary that did come through the quotes don’t get me wrong I love a good quote especially historical ones all forefathers really seem to know what they were talking about, but they already have books with famous quotes. having said all that I found the book interesting, not sure what the summary said but the subject matter quotes. I received this book by Nick Galli and I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any errors as I am blind and dictate my review thanks to Net Gally in the publisher for this arc copy.
