I have recently discovered this author and I didn’t realise that this book was book 5 in the series although it could be read as a standalone.

This was a cosy escapism read which also covered some difficult issues. I loved the descriptions of the characters and the beautiful setting and look forward to reading the back Catalogue of these books

This was an uplifting feel good read and perfect to start of my new years reading.

So great to return to Heritage Cove, a village by the sea,
To catch up on the long standing and new members of the community.
This story focuses on one of each and what they get up to
And the past events which cause them so to do.

Hazel, with her brother Arnold, run Heritage View Stables where
Horses and riders are treated with great care.
Hazel used to love helping children learn to ride
But events now mean she'd rather run away and hide.

Gus is the newcomer, moving there with Abigail, his daughter,
He's setting up as a vet and hopes to be the best yet.
However, an accident caused Abigail great pain
And her face will never be the same again.

Both have their worries and aren't looking for romance,
But fate is stepping in, maybe Abi's horse will give them the chance?
Finding out about what happened in the past
Could help them help each other put it behind them at last.

Get ready for confrontations, strong words and more,
Along with horse characters you just have to adore!
There's angst and turmoil, shattered confidence, too,
Can they help each other find a new way through?

With secrets from the past remaining concealed
It will take a dramatic incident to get them revealed!
I really enjoyed reading this delightful book
And hope you'll consider giving it more than a look.

For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I appreciate it is late in the series. It is a genre I enjoy and is to my taste without bad language or explicit scenes (although Hazel's behaviour, keeping a drawing of a naked man in her office that she looked at intermittently was a little creepy!). There are characters who have evidently appeared elsewhere in the series but I didn't feel as though I had missed anything out and I'm so sure I will enjoy more of these books that I have bought book 1.
This book is set in the riding stables and anyone who loves horses will enjoy the minute detail about day to day work and the behaviour of the individual horses. I found it hard to like Hazel: she had been going out with James for less than a year, they got engaged and 2 years later she called it off because of how she felt after the accident and following events that had occurred. This completely knocked her confidence but she did not seek help although she repeatedly said she was 'trying' to overcome the problem and 'getting better'. The book was almost 85% through before we read what had actually happened and this, together with the overwhelming detail about the horses made the book a slow read for me. However, I'm sure other readers of this genre will enjoy the book and I look forward to reading another by Helen.

Hazel runs Heritage Vieww stables with her brother. Where they teach riding to people in the local area. However, after a terrible incident, Hazel is not sure if she could ever teach again.

Gus and his 10-year-old daughter, Abigail, have moved to Heritage Cove where he is opening up his own vet practice. Here Gus is delighted that Abigail is finally coming out of her shell and he is happily seeing her flourish.

Can Hazel and Gus help each other through the past traumas and learn to let go?

This is part of a series of books however, it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the others and enjoyed this one

The Archers meets Gilmore Girls in Helen Rolfe’s witty, enchanting and poignant new novel, Finding Happiness at Heritage View.

Running Heritage View Stables is all Hazel has ever wanted. Taking care of the horses and managing the business with her brother is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream – until a terrible incident makes her question whether Heritage View Stables is really the place for her. Can Hazel ever put things back the way they were? Will Heritage View Stables ever feel like home again? Or will the life she treasures be put in jeopardy due to an unfortunate chain of events?

Gus had come to Heritage Cove to start over with his ten year old daughter, Abigail. After a tumultuous time for him and Abigail, it looks like things are starting to fall into place. Heritage Cove is the perfect place to open his veterinary practice and the countryside has done Abigail good as she has finally started to come out of her shell and be the happy little girl she was before the accident. Romance is the very last thing on his mind – until he crosses paths with Hazel and begins to experience feelings he hasn’t felt in a long time…

With the past still exerting its hold on them, will Hazel and Gus find the happiness they seek at Heritage Cove? Or will their doubts and insecurities end up costing them the second chance they deserve?

Helen Rolfe’s Finding Happiness at Heritage View is feel-good escapism at its most charming. A touching, tender and witty tale that cannot fail to brighten up your day, Finding Happiness at Heritage View is a comforting, uplifting and emotional page-turner with beautifully drawn characters, gentle humour and sweet romance that will keep you spellbound.

A book that will give you all the feels, Helen Rolfe’s Finding Happiness at Heritage View is not to be missed.

I must admit to being more than a little excited to have been given the opportunity to read and review the latest book by Helen Rolfe – Finding Happiness at Heritage View. I have read many books by this author and I have enjoyed them immensely, so I am trusting that this offering will not disappoint in any way. I am also looking forward to bumping into some ’old’ characters, as well as meetingsome new favourites.

I have often said that I can tell whether or not I will enjoy a book, by it’s cover, going against the old adage to not judge a book by its cover. indeed I found myself drawn to the happy picture painted on this front cover. What I am confident of, is the fact that this latest Heritage Cove book will be equally great as a one-off, standalone read, or as part of the Heritage Cove series. What’s not to love.

I was delighted to be reacquainted with Lucy the blacksmith, and I immediately warmed to her friend Hazel, who ran the village stables with her Brother, although there did seem to be an air of mystery about her; some kind of equine accident in the fairly near past.

The book starts with Lucy and Hazel attending a life drawing class, with the opportunity to draw a rather delectable male model. We swiftly moved to Awkward Moment 101 the next day, when The Model turns up at the stables the next day to enquire about livery for his horse. If that weren’t excruciating enough, it transpires that The Model is Gus, the new village vet! Gus also seems to come well equipped with his own mysterious ’issues’, including a ten year old Daughter, Abigail, who has been in an accident and has a badly scarred face. I did feel for Abigail and her suffering – at such an impressionable age, too. Other children can be very cruel too, which must always be at the forefront of Gus’s mind.

I found a lot of hidden meaning in the book – when considered properly, the whole story is a lot more deep and meaningful than it appears on the surface, with some very intelligent writing.

Peter is a lovely boy – he personifies Hazel’s issues, having been bitten by a horse when younger, yet being willing to take lessons and learn to ride properly. ‘Once bitten, twice shy’. Parenting is a prevalent issue throughout the book, with Levi’s Father at one extreme, and others such as Gus, Daniel and Hazel’s parents at the completely opposite (more attractive) end of the parenting spectrum. We are however warned not to write people off, with the euphemism of Hazel putting a bad apple on the compost heap, yet being warned not to immediately write off all other apples. This trait – I guess it could be badged as the art of forgiveness, is reflected in Gus and Abigail’s treatment of Julie, and their ability to forgive her – and indeed Sarah being able to forgive herself.

There are lots of questions that need answering – that you will need to read the book for yourself, in order to resolve.

Why is Hazel wary of teaching Abigail?
What is the mystery in Gus’s life?
What had happened to Abigail – why is she scarred?
What I found lacking, was any information on Arnold’s life, and I thought that a deeper look into his life would make for a great next chapter in this rather marvellous series of books.

This book as it turns out is the fifth in a series from this author and I didn’t realise this until I came towards the end of the book. Clearly some of the characters are mentioned have a back story but none of this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book and the story of Hazel and Gus.

Hazel and Gus meet in extraordinary circumstances and they think there paths will never cross again. That is until Gus turns up at the stables Hazel runs with her brother, looking for somewhere to stable his daughter’s horse. Plus Gus is also to be the new vet in Heritage Cove as well, it seems there will be no escape.

Hazel’s life is horses, rising and teaching riding but a past incident has dented her confidence and using the cliché she has ‘yet to get back in the saddle’. This is tested even more when Gus and his delightful daughter Abigail are frequent visitors to the stables and are rather insistent that it is Hazel who will trach Abigail to gain more confidence.

With Hazel’s secrets as well as Gus who seems to have come a long way to escape a marriage and an accident, the book is full of misunderstandings and assumptions. However it is the love of the horses, the way of life and the scenery that seems to bring Hazel and Gus within each others orbit.

The plot is rather at a slow sedate pace, but perhaps it reflects the way Hazel is dealing with her past experience and it did remind me of plodding away on a horse ride. Perhaps in some places it was too slow and I was at some points wishing that we would get to the dénouement even if it was somewhat predictable. That aside, I was fascinated by the workings of the stable and the absolute dedication that had been taken by Hazel and her brother to live in this world.

The perfect book to distract you from the real world for a while.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

While this book doesn't break much new ground in this genre, it was a pleasant book to read.

Welcome back to Heritage Cove, the little village by the sea brimming with character, community and friendship. The perfect place to fall in love… I liked the idea behind the novel and the execution of that idea was impressive. The writing style was simple and effective and the overall flow of the story felt very smooth. I read this book in one sitting.

Hazel meets Gus at an art class and again when Gus comes looking for a place to stable his young daughter’s horse. Both of them have been working on moving forward after traumatic experiences. Will they be able to help each other overcome their fears?
This is such a charming and heartwarming story about moving forward. I loved the characters! I especially liked the happy ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for an early copy for an unbiased review. I love Helen Rolfe books so was pleased to give this one a try. The story focuses on Heritage Cove Stables which is a family business now run by a Brother and Sister. Although I am not a "horsey person" I did enjoy reading this. Family matters, secrets, traumas, moving into a new community, friendships old and new and romance are all covered within the plot. Heritage Cove sounds like an ideal place to live near the Coast. I would definately recommend this.

If you love reading about cozy communities, slow-burn romance, overcoming past trauma, and above all, horses, Finding Happiness at Heritage View by Helen Rolfe is the perfect book for you.

It is told from the dual perspectives of Gus and Hazel. Gus is a doting father to his daughter, Abigail, and can sometimes be overprotective of her due to a freak accident in the past. Hazel, meanwhile, loves horses and runs Heritage View Stables with her brother. However, a traumatic episode in the past has put an end to an activity she loved – teaching horse riding.

The way Gus, with help from Abigail, helps Hazel in getting back her confidence was admirable. The slow-burn romance between them was endearing to read.

Moreover, the cozy community at Heritage Cove warmly welcomed Gus and Abigail and made them a part of the community from day one.

Finally, horses. So, many horses. I loved the millions of scenes featuring the horses in the Heritage View Stables. Cinnamon was my favorite, though.

However, the leisurely pace at which the story is told felt a tad too slow for me.

Overall, I liked reading Finding Happiness at Heritage View by Helen Rolfe and would recommend it to people looking for a delightful romance set in a cozy, small town.

A complimentary digital copy was provided to me by the publisher via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion on the book.

Set in Heritage Cove this is the story of Hazel who runs a riding stables with her brother. This is one of a series of books set in the Cove but can be read as a standalone as I haven't read any of the others and enjoyed this one.

Lovely summery read.

my thanks to Boldwood for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review, which I freely give.

I have read many books by Helen and they are all very good. This one we are back at Heritage Cove, and there is a new resident. It begins where Hazel and her friend are at an art class, this lesson they have a male model, who is naked. Hazel is no good at art, her friend thought it was a good idea for Hazel to go as she has been having a tough time. When she leaves at the end of the class the model is shouting at some boys and Hazel has an instant dislike to him.

Hazel herself is hiding a secret. We meet again many of the residents, would love to live at the cove with all the goodies on offer

We do meet the new vet and his daughter who has had an accident. Helen lets you know bit by bit what is troubling the vet and Hazel. The vet and his daughter bring her horse to live at the stables.

Another great read and no hesitation in giving 5* looking forward to our next visit to the Cove

I loved this sweet story, this author tells a very good tale and I liked the characters. It was a great book to read sitting under the shade of a tree on a hot, sunny day. I do hope she writes more about these characters as I would love to find out what happens next. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
