Finding Happiness at Heritage View by Helen Rolfe
Book 5 of 5 Heritage Cove
Welcome back to Heritage Cove, the little village by the sea brimming with character, community and friendship. The perfect place to fall in love
Running Heritage View Stables is everything Hazel ever dreamed of. She loves working with the horses and managing the business with her brother. But after a terrible incident, she's unsure whether she'll ever be able to return things as they were.
Gus is ready to start over. He's moved him and his ten-year-old daughter Abigail to Heritage Cove, where he's opening his vet practice. Everything is falling into place, especially as he watches Abigail start to come out of her shell for the first time since the accident.
Neither Hazel nor Gus is looking for love, but could they each be what the other needs? And is happiness even possible when their pasts won't let them go?
I have really enjoyed this series of books; they have a wonderful sense of community, are full of fun, and have fabulous characters. Like the books proceeding it, this story had me hooked from the first page.
I am happy to recommend the complete series as all five books have plenty to offer and are a wonderful summer afternoon distraction.

This was such a lovely, comforting read and even if you’re not a horse lover you’ll find yourself right at home at Heritage View Stables. Hazel is such a lovely character who deserves a bit of happiness and to hopefully move on from the accident that has stifled her teaching for so long.

I found it really comforting how Arnold was with Hazel, even though his frustrations were clear, you could see how much he cares for and loves his sister and will do anything to help her. One character I really didn’t warm to was James and I found myself hoping for Hazel to finally cut all ties as he really didn’t understand her current mindset and way forward.

Heritage Cove itself is just as good as in the previous books, but I have to say the bakery and waffle shack really shone in this and I found myself getting very peckish throughout!

Another fab book from Helen with a great storyline, Gus and Abigail have such an amazing relationship and I loved watching something develop between Hazel and him to, even if it didn’t always look like plain sailing!

I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately went and bought all other books in this series!

I grew up horse crazy.... spending hours and hours at our local stables and dreaming and begging my parents for a horse from the age of 6 to 17. If I wasn't at the stables I was reading horse magazines and I loved the Saddle Club books! This book was therefore extra special for me. It brought back a lot of lovely memories and although I haven't been around horses for years it all felt so real and familiar.
Even if you are not horse mad, but just enjoy stories in a community setting where the characters have been through something and are now starting to move on and perhaps even fall in love, then this is a really nice story.
I may have started with book 5 in this series, but I will at some point want to read them all. That is how much I enjoyed the writing!

Helen Rolfe is the author, it’s a Heritage Cove series story, Horses on the cover and in the plot, where do I sign up, oh wait I already did and I ‘bloomin’ loved it ( in my best Eliza Doolittle voice) This book is the fifth in the Heritage Cove series, you can read and enjoy this as a stand-alone, but personally I always think you get so much more from it if you’ve read the previous books (and why wouldn’t you want to read the first four equally amazing stories in the series, you really do want to, they’re so good) But that’s just me, it can definitely be read without any knowledge of the previous books.

Helen’s books are definitely feel good stories, full of fun, community, great characters and importantly a happy ending (because I really don’t need reality interfering with my escapism). This story had me hooked from the first chapter, if it wasn’t for the day job getting in my way I definitely woul have read this in one sitting as I just really didn’t want to put it down. This is such a fun book, I was laughing all the way through, I definitely think Helen must have a mischievous streak in her (in a lighthearted way obviously)

‘Finding Happiness At Heritage View’ is well written, Helen Rolfe’s characters are well crafted and developed, it’s like chatting with friends rather than reading about, but I think that is what makes Helen’s books so good, that you are so engrossed that you feel involved in the story. I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this book to any fan of Heritage Cove, Helen’s books or to anyone who loves a heartwarming read, that will lift you up and won’t let you down, even long after you’ve left heritage cove, that’s how much these characters stay with you.

Thanks to Netgalley, Rachel’s Random Resources, Boldwood Books and Helen Rolfe for the opportunity to read this fantastic read. For full disclosure I was provided with a free e-book in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own and freely given.

Wow, my first visit to Heritage Cove, and Helen Rolfe, and I'm so sorry I didn't come sooner. Believe me, I will be rectifying that error immediately! I was drawn in from the first page. Fancy attending an at class and discovering that is a life model who's nude only to find out that he's going to be the new vet in the village, where everyone knows everyone and everything that goes on!! Gus is hoping that the Cove will be a fantastic opportunity for him and his 10-year old daughter, Abigail to start over while stable owner, Hazel is struggling to overcome issues from a few years ago. Can this pair help each other? Read it and find out!

Oh my goodness – my first visit to Heritage Cove, and I so wish I’d visited rather sooner! Should anyone else worry that they might have missed too much by joining the series this late, I promise you won’t struggle at all – this really is a standalone story, but it did make me so sorry not to have read the others. The community is simply wonderful, warm and welcoming, and you’ll feel entirely at home straight away. I always think there’s a real art to introducing an established cast of characters without making it all feel a bit uncomfortable, and the author does it quite beautifully as Gus arrives, with his daughter Abigail, to open his vet practice. And the few people whose path they haven’t crossed yet? Hazel from the Heritage View Stables has a little shopping to do, and rides her horse around the village, calling in on a few more. It’s just so naturally and cleverly done – and I’d already been hooked by the story itself from the very beginning by the rather unusual introduction of its two main characters.

And I really loved this story. Hazel has lost her confidence after a traumatic incident – the full story slowly revealed – and no longer teaches children to ride at the stables she now runs with her brother Arnold. Her ex, James, has hopes of rekindling their relationship, and offers support of sorts – but really doesn’t understand how badly she’s been damaged or how important the family stables is to her. When Gus brings his ten-year-old daughter Abigail there – she’s been through a trauma of a different kind, and the stables will be looking after her beloved horse Denby who has helped her on her own path to recovery – he sees the easy relationship that develops between them and can’t understand why Hazel is unable (or is it unwilling?) to teach her. And there’s an immediate attraction between Gus and Hazel – but she’s wary of him having seen a few moments of anger that made her uncomfortable, misunderstanding the fierceness with which he protects his daughter.

There really was nothing about this story I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. The relationship between Gus and Hazel moved on in the way I really hoped it would – they were both very real people I took to my heart, and I was entirely invested in the way they helped and supported each other on the way to the happy ending I really hoped they both would have. I’m not always a fan of children as main characters, but I really took to young Abigail too – a child who’d been through a lot and struggled to rediscover her own bravery, her delight over every moment spent at the stables among her beloved horses. I’m not really a particular fan of horses either – but I was really impressed by the well-researched detail about the day-to-day activities of the stables woven into the story, and found it all quite fascinating. There’s a nice focus too on family – Hazel’s lovely relationship with the hardworking brother who’s taking up the slack caused by her stepping back from teaching, her wonderfully supportive parents, and the more complicated dynamics of Gus’s former relationship.

The writing is just wonderful – a gently told story that I found quite captivating, every individual beautifully drawn, the emotional content perfectly judged, heartwarming and uplifting but with plenty of narrative drive, interaction with the wider community, moments of heightened drama, and the development of the characters who’d won my heart. Very highly recommended – and I’ll be really looking forward to my next visit to Heritage Cove.

Once again Helen has captured our hearts back in one of my favourite places of heritage cove, Gustav is a bit of a revelation, being the new vet he makes an impression more ways than one.

My favourite of the cove has to be Barney very charismatic gentleman.

I love the Heritage Cove series of books and ‘Finding Happiness At Heritage View’ (the fifth book in the series) is a smasher. I just couldn’t put it down I was enjoying it so much.
Not matter how long since the last visit to the Cove, it doesn’t take long to feel the sense of community as you read, catching up with characters you love and stories you have read. That being said, you could read this as a standalone, there is a enough backstory information included – but I do highly recommend the other books, they are simply brilliant.
Fantastic writing, great storylines and realistic, loveable characters – Helen Rolfe has genuinely created one of the nicest fictional communities. If only we could go and visit for real. I suppose I will have to be happy with our fictional jaunts with each book – please Helen don’t break our hearts and say there’s no more!
Hazel is a great character but she has her own demons, at first we don’t understand what they are, we slowly learn to understand the problem and hope that she can find the support and help she needs before it’s too late.
New vet, Gus, and his daughter Abigail are very welcome additions to the local community as is their horse. They have both been through so much and a fresh start may just help them move forward.
Hazel needs a boost to her confidence and recognises the in Abigail; the relationship they develop is very sweet and it benefits both as the book progresses.
Gus’ priority if his daughter and wanting to make life as easy for her as possible. He develops a friendship with Hazel but struggles to understand why she stops herself getting too close. There is definitely a spark between the two of them but can something become romantic if they are both needing to get over their own issues.
Absolutely adored the setting of the stables and getting to hear about the different horses. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new characters, catching up with old friends and spending more time in The Cove; I’m already looking forward to the next visit!
I cannot recommend this book enough, perfect for a hot summers day.
Thank you to Boldwood Books, Helen Rolfe and Rach’s Random Resources for the chance to read and review.

I have been a fan of Helen Rolfe’s books for a while now, admittedly I haven’t read as many of them as I would have liked to (drat to the never-ending tbr pile) but I have added a fair few to my kindle and they will be read (eventually).

Despite not reading the previous books in the Heritage Cove series, I didn’t feel as though I had missed anything, my whole focus was on this story and the characters – plus the horses who in my opinion stole the show completely.

Hazel co-runs the charmingly named; Heritage View Stables in the picturesque village of Heritage Cove, along with her brother Arnold. Hazel’s love for her job and especially her horses is palpable, you can feel just how much those beautiful animals and the joy they bring to peoples lives means to her. That is until an awful accident, an accident which completely knocks her off-kilter, she is a changed woman and she has lost all confidence in herself and her ability to teach, something which really brought a lump to my throat. Just how awful is that, to love something so much and then in a blink of an eye you lose faith in your ability and enjoyment and love of what you are so good at.

Gus with his delightful daughter Abigail has recently moved to the Cove, he has just opened his veterinary practice and soon his daughter’s beloved horse will be housed at the stables. This pushes Hazel and Gus together, they have been some really shocking experiences and neither is looking for anything especially love.

Gus has only one thing on his mind at that is the happiness of his daughter, she has been through so much already, she is both physically and mentally scarred and all he wants is hoping to have his little girl back after she retreated into her shell. It’s utterly heart-warming watching these three people come back to life as they slowly begin to live once again, it takes a while for Hazel and Gus to make a go of it, as there are communication issues between them – something thing I did find a little tiring, she judges far too much before learning more about him and his past, and the reasons he is how he is. But the ending is incredibly fitting and worked beautifully with the story.

I loved the attention to detail the authors have gone into with regards to the horses, not only how beneficial it s to be around these gentle creatures for those who may have physical or mental health issues but I really enjoyed reading how they are taken care of and life in at stables. I do have a soft spot for horses, even though I have never really been around them (apart from walking through my local farm having a couple of horses in stables and being allowed to pet them in passing) I have never had the opportunity to be around horses as much as I would like, and I loved my brief visit to Heritage View stables and hopefully, I get to return in a future visit to the Cove.

Finding Happiness at Heritage View is such an uplifting, heart-warming, emotional and sensitively beautiful book, it was an absolute pleasure to read and now I can’t wait to discover more from this charming series!

This is the 5th book in the Heritage Cove series, but can easily be read as a standalone.
Hazel is 37 and lives in Heritage View House. She has taken over her parents’ business – the Heritage View Stables - with her brother. She does more paperwork, while Arnold (40) does more of the teaching classes, after Hazel has had a crisis of confidence.
Meanwhile, vet Gus and his daughter Abigail (10) have moved into the Cove and their horse Denby needs a stable, so Gus asks Hazel. There is definitely chemistry between the two, but Hazel has her persistent ex James still hanging around.
I have previously read Helen’s novel The Farmhouse of Second Chances, which I really loved so I was keen to read more of her books and this one was just as good.
I really enjoyed the community feel of this book - Heritage Cove feels like somewhere real that you could visit and meet all the characters. There’s a pub, tea rooms, bakery, florists, etc. and it’s easy to picture yourself walking round it all. (I’m off to the bakery, then I’ll see you in the tea rooms for a cuppa!)
I especially enjoyed the horse bits as I used to ride horses (I learnt aged 48). I loved getting to know the different horses. There are ten in the stables including Denby and each one has its own distinct personality.
I liked how Hazel has real problems to overcome and how you can see her previous bad experiences have changed her and dented her confidence. The juxtaposition of her “issues” alongside young Abigail’s “issues” was really well done too; you can see their development and how Hazel finds the young girl inspiring. I felt this was a very positive message.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed the story, loved the setting and the characters and I will be reading more of Helen Rolfe’s work in the future.

If you like horses you will love it or even dpf you don't as it's set around a stable and it's owners brother and sister Arnold and Hazel who took over after their parents retired. Hazel has lost her confidence to teach after a child had an accident and the parent caused an issue
Gus and his daughter Abi have just moved to the village after Abi had an accident and his marriage ended to start up a new vet practise. Abi's horse Dexter is going to be the new resident at the stable
Can they help each other to move on from their problems ?
Loved it

Its always a delight to read a new Helen Rolfe novel and this was well worth the wait.

With many of the faces we've grown to love throughout the series and some new, this was a heartwarming story of leaving the past behind and moving on.

Beautifully written and easily read as a standalone, but I would suggest you read the series as they're too good to miss out on.

Did I mention horses, there were lots of those too! 🐴

Heritage View sound so idyllic and I so wish it were real, I'd love to visit, wouldn't you?

Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot.

As are of Helens books.❤️❤️

This book is part of the Heritage Cove series of books. It can also be read as a standalone novel. This book features Gus, the new Vet, his Daughter Abigail and Hazel and Arnold who own the rising stables. Some of the characters from the previous books also feature in this book.
Hazel and Abigail have both had something traumatic happen to them in the past couple of years. Hazel had something happen at the stables, while Abigail had a physical accident. We don't find out what happened until far into the book. This book focuses on how the trauma affected them and how they are trying to move forward.
I don't really know much about horses, and this was a huge theme of the book. It was written well though, and I enjoyed reading about them.
This is a lovely, easygoing heartwarming read. I did feel that it ended suddenly, but hopefully there will be more books in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood books for my ARC.

As sweet and heart-warming as its gorgeous cover!
This is a part of a series set in a fictional village of Heritage Cove, so some of the readers will rejoice at seeing all the familiar faces and catching up with the beloved characters. Others, like me, will enjoy this lovely book as a standalone.
So what kind of reader is this book perfect for? anyone who loves reading about small towns/villages with a strong sense of community and anyone who loves a second chance at love, life and happiness story, and, of course, anyone who loves horses and horse-riding.
You'll love Hazel, the owner of Heritage View Stables, from the first scene of a live drawing class with a nude model- Hazel's embarrassment endeared her to me straightaway! Then we meet Abi, a sweet girl who is really keen on housing her horse Denby at Hazel's stables, and her protective father Gus, who is about to open his vet practice in the village. Both Hazel and Abi need to overcome fears and lack of confidence and put their past behind, but it isn't easy to deal with trauma and lingering emotions. Can Heritage Cove work its magic on these new characters and let them find peace and happiness? Expect misunderstandings and miscommunications, but also acceptance, kindness and support in this sweet and touching book.
I really enjoyed this charming story and would love to continue with the series!

I absolutely loved everything about this book. Hazel is trying to face her demons and get back to teaching whilst Gus is trying to start over with his daughter Abigail.

Set in a beautiful coastal village this story has all the feels. The sibling love between Arnold and Hazel and also the family dynamics with Gus, Abigail and her mother.

Of course the other massive bonus about this book is the horses. I do love a story with horses.

A fabulous read for any time of the year.

I thoroughly enjoyed this feel good story. It was actually the first I had read in the series, but this didn't take away from the book at all, it was great as a standalone.
It left me feeling cheery and wishing I could relive my days of horse-riding. A lovely read that wasn't just totally focused on the love side of the story, it was refreshing and funny, I look forward to reading more by this author.

What a delightful read. A real treat for horsey fans, as I was transported back to my pony-mad youth and all my favourite equine adventure stories that I would devour, but this time with a more grown up twist. Although even if you're not a horse lover, you can't help but be captivated by Hazel's story and her quest to re-discover her confidence with the help of two newcomers to the charming village of Heritage Cove, set on the beautiful Suffolk coast. I can't wait to read the other books in the Heritage Cove series, as the local characters are just as you'd wish a warm, welcoming village community to be.
