I love stories featuring older women and I loved this one, a compelling and entertaining story.
Great characters, a good plot, and a lot of emotions and fun.

First I would like to thank Netgalley, the author and publisher for my free ARC.

This book dives right in. Here’s a bunch of older women getting together for various reasons doing the very thing we always do with old friends – talk about our youth as if to relive it. These are the people we feel young again with after all. So with that, the author leaves out a whole load of backstory that nobody needs which is praiseworthy, and skips to the chase. The first half of the book is a lot of noise and flapping about, and by the second half, I was laughing out loud I was so immersed in this story. I love the nanosecond assumptions that Bea makes about people and situations that are almost certainly always wrong. Bea is likely to be Bridget Jones’s mother in all honesty.

This is like a coming of age book for the older woman – that second round of learning who we really are.

A great summer weekend book, I highly recommend it.

Maddie Please is an author who can do no wrong for me. I simply adore her books and her latest is no exception!

Bea is a sixty year old author who has lost her mojo. She is hoping a trip to meet up with two friends in France, will help give her a much needed boost. As with all this authors books, the settings are so dreamy and will have you wanting to book a trip away as soon as possible! Of course it would also help if you had a friend that has renovated and owns a chateau!

Through Bea we get to see that life certainly is far from over at sixty. There is still so much possibility and lots to live for. I think when we are younger, we envision life being over by that age but when you start edging closer, you still very much feel like a twenty something in your head and have hopes and dreams. I loved Bea’s character and knowing all her thoughts. The blossoming friendship between her and Laurent especially made me smile as it felt like being a teenager again and I couldn’t help but get caught up in all the chemistry.

Old Friends Reunited is the perfect pick me up. I can’t help but devour this author’s novels as once I start, they are far to addictive to put back down again. It has everything that I love about this genre and was a highly entertaining read that never fails to leave me on a high. A book that is guaranteed to brighten any readers day!

I've never read anything by this book before, but I'm likely to check out future books.

I love that this story had older, more mature characters, as I find that so rarely in books these days. Bea, Audrie, and Gin are realistic and relatable characters. I loved the setting, as well. There are many heartwarming scenes. This is a great choice for a fun, lighthearted summer read.

Old Friends Reunited by Maddie Please is a delightful contemporary novel that will put a smile on your face.
The leading characters are three sixty year old women who have been friends since school. It is lovely to get glimpses of the girls they once were as they reminisce. It is refreshing to have leading characters who are not in the first flush of youth. They were very easy for me to relate to.
We see that life is for living. While we are still breathing, we can still grab life with both hands. We may retire from our jobs but we do not need to retire from life.
A jaded life is given a new lease, fresh inspiration and the opportunity to try new things. Life opens up after accepting an invitation to travel from Britain to reunite with school friends in France. Life in Britain seems grey in contrast to the vibrancy of France.
As the novel progresses it is a joy to see a life blossom.
Our children always need us no matter how old they are. Too often they see us as their mum and not a person in our own right with a life to live that is ours alone.
I found one of the saddest scenes in the book was a phone call from a daughter to her mum (read the book and see what you think) – Just as a life was beginning to bud, the daughter wanted to re-box it. I was reminded of a similar scene in the Douglas Sirk movie All That Heaven Allows with Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson where her children buy her a television to keep her company while they go off and live their lives.
The book was highly amusing as one of the leading ladies is accident prone. I laughed out loud at her antics in a kitchen with a slippy floor!
Old Friends Reunited was a really fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to much more from Maddie Please.
I received a free copy via Net Galley for a blog tour with Rachel’s Random Resources. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

This book was hilarious and so heartwarming! I really enjoyed following along with the journeys of these three best friends, and loved Bea’s ending as it was deserved. It was very enjoyable, yet I thought parts were pretty predictable.
Overall a really nice and easy read that’s perfect for the summer!

An enjoyable and easy read. The book made me laugh a few times, especially the scene in the kitchen with apparently Victor eating 'like a baboon' according to his wife.

However, it was all a bit predictable. Despite enjoying the musings by Bea about her life, her age, her purpose. Couldn't she have gotten into a fight or having a fit screaming loudly? Or in uncertainty about finding her new love life near the end?
It was also a bit flat when it comes to diversity when it comes to skin color, sexual orientation, religion, history, cultural background, income (or lack of), and chronics, but I could add that to a lot of reviews on books I've read recently... There was indeed Pascale who gave Old Friends Reunited a bit more perspective and color. And I do agree with Bea that the older women get, the less visible they are in Western society. On the other hand, all three of the BAG-ladies had kids... hmmmm... how's that for stereotypes? So yes, I've given it a lot of thought :)

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Old Friends Reunited is just the tonic I needed after reading quite a few back-to-back thrillers., It’s charming, funny and set in a beautiful chateau in France. The characters are likeable, the story flows well and is nicely rounded up to satisfying conclusion. A lovely summer read for 2022

This book was an absolute delight and a pleasure to read with some fantastic laugh out loud moments but it also made me reflect on my own life and I'm going to become more 'Bea' so look out!

This was the second book I’d read by the author, after Sisters Behaving Badly, and it did not disappoint either. Maddie Please has a way of creating lovable and quirky female (and male too!) characters, in this case the “Old Bags” or “Baggies” being the main ones. Bea, Audrie and Gin attended St. Martin’s boarding school together as young girls, have maintained their strong ties, and plan a reunion at Audrie’s lovely chateau in France, which has been featured in a popular tv series. Of the three, Audrie has never been divorced but seems to be experiencing a marital crisis with long-time spouse Victor, who is planning retirement, as the other friends arrive.

The adventures and misadventures of these three 60’ish-aged ladies are hilarious and engaging, especially as the TV crew arrives again, but throughout the author creates heartwarming scenes and unique connections among the Baggies and other characters. Life lessons are experienced in a light way. I will be watching closely for future books by this author, anticipating more amusing reads.

I have come to expect uplifting and fun reads from #Boldwood Books and thank NetGalley for this Advance Reader’s Copy

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my copy old friends reunited.
Following three old school friends in a magnificent chateau in France as they each deal with the struggles of the stage of life they are in especially with marital turmoil and self-discovery.
I loved this book more than I expected. I could not put it down. I loved Bea and I'm very happy she got what she deserved in the end. I feel when into this book thinking that it was going to be one story, but it came out to be a different one. Which I quite enjoy I would love to say more on this, but I don't want to spoiler anything.
I'm definitely going to pick more from this author.

A good read but it was like two thirds one story and then a third the other then all tied up at the end. Bit strange . Three old school friends all met up in a chateau in France one of them owned. All of them had issues over husbands and x ones . I loved the writer character Bea as she struggled with dead lines. Made you appreciate what authors do to write ace books. A neat ending which I always like.
