Enjoyable read, typical chick lit but enjoyable none the less, enjoyed the narration and the premise of the story overall, one of those books you can put on and listen to when you want to just wile away an hour or so with a good story.

This is not my first book of Anna's and it certainly won't be my last.

I found the start a little cheesy, and I did struggle with it, but overall it was a really great read. Perfect for a day spent lazing by the water.

I love the idea of writing a note to your future self, I enjoyed this book about what happens when you do.

Note to Self is about Edie who has sent emails to herself from when she was 18 and not far from heading off to university. Now we are with Edie at the age of 35 who has just received the first of these emails from her younger self, and goes on an incredible journey of self discovery with a mix of dealing with the grief of her mothers death.

This book is so heartwarming, it really gripped me and I felt like I was feeling the same rush of emotions as Edie at some points. I loved the concept too, I even remember coming across something similar when I was a teenager and I just think it really opened up the story and gave Edie depth to her character and emotions.

I also think this is the first time I haven’t found the miscommunication trope annoying! Well done Anna Bell!

If you want a fun, cute, sometimes fluffy romance I would highly recommend but please keep in mind this touches on some upsetting topics.

I loved the concept of this book — a 17 year old girl sends herself emails to read in the future. I love romance books too, so the book’s description ticked all of the boxes for me.

It was an easy read — there’s nothing challenging about the book and it’s full of your typical tropes from the romance genre. Some might say it’s a little bit “romance by numbers” because there was nothing surprising or different about the book. If you’re just looking for a nice story with love and some funny moments, this is up your street.

What an absolute joy this book was. I had the audio version, and it was compelling from start to finish.
When Edie works at a holiday camp during the summer when she is 17, she uses a website to send emails to her future self 17 years later.
The emails delve into her past and bring a mix of emotions, spurring her to take a look at the hurts from the past, what she wants from the future and to reconnect with old friends she left behind.
I could not stop listening to this book, so well written and a wonderful story.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Romance isn’t my cup of tea so this review may or may not be relevant to you.

I received this as an audiobook and was ok listening to it. However, I found it flat, in parts cheesy and a bit boring. The plot is very common and predictable. Every romance cliché is included in this book.

I couldn’t vibe with the main character and I couldn’t understand why she was doing things that way.
I did like the idea receiving an email from a younger self and I would have liked the MC doing more with the realisation of what she was meant to be in life.

This might sound a bit off putting but I had good time listening to it so if you’re fan of romance, I would recommend to give it a go.

An emotional rollercoaster and a great summer audiobook.

Edie has just turned 35 when she finds her settled and successful life changing in unexpected ways, all because of an email she sent herself 17 years ago and forgot all about.

18 year old Edie has no idea of the tragedy and turmoil lying just around the corner, while 35 year old Edie hadn't noticed just how much she has given up to deal with all the challenges she's faced, gaining a new perspective through reliving her final summer before university.

The unexpected connection to her past prompts her to seek out her old friends who she lost touch with, challenge herself to embrace her life and relationships, and reconnect with an old flame she had consigned to the past.

This was enjoyable with an original idea. It’s always a bit uncomfortable when you can see two people, already in relationships, who are presented as destined to be together and in this case, I thought this was handled well. I could have lived without the narrators slightly bizarre male voices and Scottish accents, but will admit it helped to follow the plot. Id probably go 3.5 but I’ll be generous.

Loved this. A lot of topics covered including love, loss and addiction. An amazing summer audio book I would highly recommend to anyone.

I listened to then audiobook ARC from Netgalley. I have not read this author before but will definitely read more by her.

Edie receives emails from her 18 year old self on her 35th birthday and starts to change her life.

I liked narrator and the story immediately pulled me in. Both ‘then’ and ‘now’ sections were interesting. Edie was a likeable character and there were a few issues going on in her life.

I would love to know if sending yourself future emails is a real thing.

Edie just turned 35 years old. A few days after her birthday emails arrive, written by her 18 y/o self during the summer she met Joel. The summer that changed her life forever. The summer Joel broke her heart. The summer her mother died.

The emails are like entries in a diary. They remind Edie of who she was back then and how much her life and her goals in life have changed. And they make her reach out to the people she met working at a campsite that summer, reconnecting with old friends.

Of course Joel is part of that group. The chemistry between the two of them is still there. But Edie is in a relationship, and Joel has an American girlfriend he might want to follow to Florida for work.

What I liked most about this book was how down to earth the individual characters' lives were. They all had their problems, but were projecting if not a perfect life than at least a happy life to the world.

This book is the perfect summer read! We meet Evie on her 35th birthday and things seem to be going just fine for her... Company Director, her own flat, a nice boyfriend. Then she receives a surprise email, from herself, aged 18.

18 year old Evie, working at a sunnwe holiday resort, full of optimism, had used a website called Note to Self to send herself emails at a future date and time.

The emails give Evie a bit of a kick up the bum, as she starts to realise that perhaps she's settled a bit along the last 17 years, and the emails challenge her to get out of her comfort zone. Watching older Evie grow and blossom is great, it's not cheesy or childish. Even when Evie breaks up with boyfriend Miles (not a huge spoiler, you know its coming right from the start!) it's done in a very nature and amicable way, rather than making Miles out to be a bad guy, which a lot of fiction books tend to do.

Throughout the story we get flashbacks to younger Evie, her best friend at the time Sophie, and her crush Joel. Combined with the emails, and the adventures of older Evie, it makes for a great read. The ending is ever so slightly predictable, but in a lovely way. Trigger warnings for alcoholism and bereavement.

Any Anna Bell book is usually a huge yes from me. This was another brilliant read and I particularly loved it as I think the narration really bought it alive.

Emails from the last to your future self? What a fantastic concept. This book is another winner from Anna Bell who expertly weaves in her characters traumas or issues with a lot of heart. You want the characters to find their way. I loved that we didn’t have too many flashbacks, just enough to give an idea about everything. The narrator was fantastic. This is a story of trying to rediscover yourself through your last, younger self.

Really lovely, easy read. Loved the concept of receiving emails from your past self. We can certainly learn a lot. It wasn’t majorly different from other similar reads but it was nice to go on the journey with Edie. I loved the dual storyline of past an present day. The pace was perfect along with the narration which kept you engaged and wanting to know more. Loveable characters and some that were going through there own personal issues. If it’s possible maybe we could all email our future self to see how our hopes and dreams have turned out.

3.5/5 🌟🌟🌟/🌟

So, this was an unexpected, brilliant story.

An all-together classic second chance romance - but with a twist.

I loved the "emails to your older self" idea... It somehow makes it even more special that the one giving advice is your younger self...

I loved the characters and the special bond between the group. It feels like a group of people I would want to be friends with.

The audiobook was a cosy experience. The narrator was nice and easy to listen to, and I quickly became involved with the story.

I highly recommend this to all those in need of a romantic bookish "get-away".

This is another great sunny day listen. I liked the idea of writing to your older self and seeing if, when you are older your life has turned out as you thought it might. This book led to changes within the person's life. The characters were likeable and believable.
