Lost In Time by A.G. Riddle
Thank you Netgallery for an ARC for an unbiased review.
As a bit of a Sci-Fi geek, I'm always wary on new books, as often they can land up feeling similar in style and execution. However I have enjoyed AG Riddle's work before, so was hopeful this would be the same.
I'm glad to say, for me at least, it was. It is basically a murder/mystery wrapped up in time travel. A premise I've read plenty of times, but this was presented in a way that made the mystery aspect fun, the Sci-Fi pretty solid. The only downside (& why it is at 4/5 for me) was the Sci-Fi aspect did get bogged down at times. Yes, Sci-Fi by its nature, like fantasy, is speculative, but all too often I felt it got just a bit too hung up on detail.
Having said that, the way it all unfolded was good and solid. Although I'd pretty much worked out the who, the why I hadn't quite pinned down until later and then the ending really decided to mess with what I thought. Either way, it still felt satisfactory on how the book crafted the journey for all involved.
Sam's journey especially was one I found myself enjoying probably the most.
Twists and turns were all solid. The ending went in a direction that I wasn't expecting and it felt absolutely right for this book.
If you like Sci-Fi books, then this should be one you get as soon as possible to read.
Solid 4/5 stars 🌟
