Chevy Stevens can always be counted on to come up with a really original story and this one is one of her best. It is an exciting book that had me holding my breath at the tension many times throughout the story. Definitely worthy of 5 stars.

Thanks for Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

What an absorbing read Dark Roads which kept me engaged.

This is a disturbing story of a highway littered with white crosses and 'missing' posters which is the hunting ground for a serial killer who prays on women who are unfortunate enough to find themselves alone on this particular stretch of road.

With great characters, a dark and claustrophobic setting and with great twists, this is an engaging read which, although, starts off a little slow, the atmosphere builds and builds to a very satisfying ending.

Thank you to Little, Brown Book Group UK and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Dark Roads.

Gripping from start to finish her books are just amazing, I loved this one in particular.. the atmosphere just builds and builds. The book centres around a 500 mile highway and the disappearance of many many girls along that highway. There are some similarities to the Highway Of Tears in Canada which has experienced the real life version of multiple disappearances. It’s a must read.

I've read all Chevy Stevens's previous books, and this one doesn't disappoint. She captures the stifling claustrophobia of a small town perfectly, and creates a memorable, three dimensional cast of characters to inhabit it. I was gripped by this story, particularly by Hailey's desperation to get away from her controlling and corrupt uncle, and couldn't wait to find out what happened next.

I’m a fan of Chevy Stevens and this a great read. I’ve watched documentaries about the Highway of Tears on which the story is based, although on a fictional town.
The story is written in three parts and from two POV. You have Hailey who is trying to deal with the grief of losing her father with a new dominant ‘uncle’ . We then meet Beth who is trying to escape her life. As you follow these women trying to deal and take control of their lives you have the backdrop of young women being murdered.
I read this very quickly and loved all the nuances of the characters. All of them came across as real people with their own issues, no one was perfect.
The story unfolded at a good pace and keeps you glued to the story and the clues.
Thank you for a fantastic read.

This was my first Chevy Stevens and it won't be my last. It was completely different from how I imagined it would be and the plot was a lot more expansive than usual mystery thrillers. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter.

A gripping thriller that starts on simmer and builds to a boil. Dazzlingly clever, twisting and constantly surprising. An unputdownable rollercoaster of a read.

Another excellent psychological thriller from Chevy Stevens, two girls, monsters who hide in plain sight and a twisty turny path to resolution.

The setting really pops, small town, heavy on secrets and full of expectant atmosphere. The writing is excellent the plotting even more so and the descriptive sense of it is pitch perfect making it extremely addictive and hard to put down.

I've missed a few books from this author so have immediately added them to my publish. Really enjoyed this. Recommended.

The Cold Creek Highway stretches close to 500 miles through British Columbia's rugged wilderness to the west coast. Isolated and vast, it has become a prime hunting ground for predators. For decades women travelling the road have gone missing. And no killer or abductor who has stalked the highway has ever been brought to justice.

Haley McBride is seventeen. She lives in a small town along the highway. When her dad died she had to go live with her aunt Lara and her husband Vaughn. Vaughn is the local police officer, but Haley doesn't trust him. Vaughn doesn't like her friends, Amber and Johnny. When Amber disappears and her car is found damaged, Haley decides she needs to get away to someplace safe.

The story unfolds in three parts and told from Haley and Beth's perspectives. This is one of those stories that the less you know before you starting book. the better. I did find the ending a little predictable. It did take me a little while to get into the book, but it wasn't long before I was hooked.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #LittleBrownBookGroupUK and the author #ChevyStevens for my ARC of #Dark Roads in exchange for an honest review.

It has been a while since I have read by this author and they have still got it. Cold Creek highway is littered with white crosses of girls who have gone missing for decades. This is the killers hunting ground. An intense, dark and disturbing read which I found very hard to put down. Atmospheric and tension and suspense you could cut with a knife. I literally have no nails left, got my heart racing and at times chilled me to the bone.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Hailey has grown up in Cold Creek a place infamous for the unsolved murders of many young women. Beth's sister Amber is one of them and Beth feels determined to find out what happened. Between the two of them will they finally be able to get to the bottom of the murders and stop any more girls ending up with the same fate?
This book was full of suspense and I loved the dual telling of the story between Hailey and Beth. There was also some little twists that I was not expecting so it kept me enthralled in the story all the way through.
This was my first book I've read by Chevy Stevens and I can't wait to read more.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC

Fantastic read, read this book in one sitting.
Starts with Hallie, Johnny and along the way some great twists and turns that keep you guessing. Who was the killer on the dark road and how was he getting away with the crimes for years. Add in a corrupt police officer and he guessing game begins.
Well written and definitely keeps the reader on their toes.
Loving the work of this author and this book won’t disappoint.
Highly recommended
