Wolfsong follows the story of Ox Matheson, who grows up in a small Oregon town known as Greencreek amongst magic and werewolves. When disaster befalls his family and friends he must fight harder than ever before to save his pack from a feral werewolf seeking vengeance.

I don't know what I was expecting when I went into this book but I absolutely loved it. It's touching, emotional and at times heart-wrenching and has one of my favourite fictional families (both found and blood mixed together) ever.

This book is both a beautiful coming of age story for Ox, as well as the romance between him and Joe. Ox’s growth throughout the book is a really moving, he grows from a boy abandoned and shit on by his father to a confident alpha who will do anything for his pack. The relationship also progresses really naturally from best friends to that sudden oh! realisation (which I am a sucker for friends to lovers so I loved this) and you can tell they care so much about each other. There was also a fair amount of angst at times, which was stressful but also very satisfying when it resolved.

I also enjoyed exploring Ox’s relationships with other characters. His pseudo-parental relationship with Thomas and Elizabeth, who you could tell loved him so much and it was nice to see healthy parental figures for him. Carter and Kelly (who I also loved them both - I think they have their own books later in the series and I'm so excited) and their brotherly bonds. Gordo and all the crew at the garage I also loved so much and their banter was so much fun!! Honestly I care about all these characters so much and their bonds with each other <33

I loved TJ Klune’s writing style in this book, I’ve read quite a few of his other series and all have quite a distinct voice and this one is no different. I would say this is a lot more poetic and dreamy than some of his other stuff, there is still a hint of humour but in general it feels a bit darker and more haunting.

In summary I would highly recommend this - I have to read the rest of the series first but I have a feeling this will become my favourite TJ Klune series. Full of cinnamon roll werewolves, everyone is gay, classic creepy small town vibes, a beautiful love story - what more could you want?!?

Be warned, there's going to be some spoilers ahead.

A very divided opinion from me on this book, lots to like, lots to not like so much. Which isn't hard in a book this long. I felt it could have lost some pages without changing the story.

There are definite twilight vibes going on here, something that is amusingly mentioned in the book.
Gay werewolf, that's different.. I'm good with that.
However, Joe is just plain creepy.
His obsessive/possessiveness from such a young age should have had Ox running.
Also the way Ox turns into a stumbling clown the minute there's any attraction... felt a little silly.
However, the character of Ox was fab, as we're most of the others, and the bonds they built and families they forged between themselves was truly heartwarming.
Some great battle scenes.
Genuine moments of sadness when things don't go as planned.
I really enjoyed the authors style of writing.
Lastly, I'm going to be forever amused at a werewolf called Elisabeth Bennett.
Probably just me.

Twilight meets Half Bad meets Vampire Diaries...but they’re all werewolves!?

I love werewolf stories and this one is definitely a highlight!
I loved it from the first page on. I loved everything about it. The setting, the story, the style of writing, the characters!!! They’re all so precious and need to be protected, especially Baby-Joe.
The family (and/or pack) dynamic was so beautifully written, the connection and relationships between all of them made my heart hurt, but in a good kind of way.
The love story was totally different to anything I ever read before, it was super special and I loved it. The way everything develops and grows over the years.
So many tears...either from the characters or from me (there was a lot of crying and heartbreak), but also the humour in this one was super awesome (the guys from the car repair shop are my favourites).
I don’t even know how to put into words how I feel about this book, it’s one of these books that just make your heart sing (god this book made me corny).

Oh wow, this was wonderful! Another story of found family from this author but this time…..wolves!!!!!

Ox lives in a small town, born and bred. Horrible Dad, lovely shining light of a Mum and he meets the Bennett’s who live down the lane. And then it all starts……..

I love Ox. He is an utterly beautiful soul. So innocent with a good heart. I loved that we saw him growing up from a boy to a man.

Joe I took a bit longer to like but as Ox is just so adorable, I think it took my shining light from Joe!

All of the characters were so good and I especially loved the garage guys but there was one who stood out for me in this whole book…………Carter Bennett. I think he has a book out and can’t wait to read it!

The story was built up and up and I ate up every word! Magical, wolfy and beautiful.

Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for the free arc.

Wolfsong follows the story of Ox and Joe and the rest of the amazing wolf pack, this is the first book in a series of four and is my favourite series by TJ Klune.

The characters are all so well rounded and over the series they all get their moments to shine, grow and expand as people. The new cover is stunning and I’m so excited to see the others.
