*4.5 stars. Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Harper Collins for the eARC/Audiobook for an honest review. This is my second Lucy Clarke read and I can't wait to read more (very much looking forward to the release of The Hike).

I listened to about 20% of the audiobook last year but didn't feel like I was focused enough so decided to try again this year. There are 6 main characters, which means 6 POVs. I really wanted to make sure I was getting the who's who of the story, which is why I started again. The story takes place in Greece where 6 women are on holiday celebrating Lexi's hen weekend. I thought that the pacing was really good. We know from the beginning that something bad is going to take place on this trip. As well as the 6 POV chapters, there are also short snippets in between from an omniscient narrator (the narrator, Sofia Zervudachi, did such a great job with these) giving us hints and I found them so brilliantly creepy.

All 6 characters are so different which Clarke did such a great job with. They are a group of beautifully diverse women navigating old and new friendships all while carrying secrets of their own. Clarke builds such beautiful settings and I loved exploring them with the characters. The book explores so much, including grief, parenthood, LGBTQ+ issues, expectations on women and so much more. There are many twists and turns in this book that had me gripped. On of the reveals, once I realised, made me gasp out loud. Absolutely brilliant writing. My favourite character has to be Robin and my least favourite was definitely Bella... she did have a a few redeeming qualities but she was not for me.

I really recommend this book to anyone who loves a thriller with tons of suspense. I really can't wait to read more from this author.

***AUDIO BOOK VERSION***
One of the Girls is a twisty, well woven and tense read about a group of six women who go on a hen weekend to celebrate the upcoming wedding of the bride-to-be, Lexi. The book starts off with one of the women being dead, but doesn't give any indication as to who or how they died. This was a great opening and hooked me straight away. As the book unfolds, the friends each give their POV of the occurances each day of the break. But it becomes clear all is not as it seems. The revelations come quick and fast towards the end but I still didn't fully figure it out. This book definitely kept me on my toes and the narration was fantastic considering there were so many characters to narrate from. This is unputdownable and I enjoyed every second of it. Definitely a great summer thriller for a beach read!

One of the Girls is very well written and very well narrated, but not exactly a thriller. As other reviewers have already pointed out, it's more of a domestic drama with very dark twists.
The narrative flows well, changing point of view with every chapter so that every character is well developed. I felt like I understood all of the characters and their relationships between each other well by the end of the book, but at times, I did feel a bit lost.

I'm giving the audiobook three stars because the story is well written and narrated but I found the drama a bit excessive at times and some plot twists are just not my cup of tea.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It was a little slowly paced and the ending was kind of predictable but i loved its setting,i think it was incredibly unique as no one really uses a holiday as a basis for a murder

I listened to this as an audio book and really liked the different accents the narrator used for each character. There were a number of girls to get your head round and so the accents helped. I did like the diversity of the females on the hen do- made the story more relatable. There were many links in the story, so I had to pay attention. All in all, this was an entertaining read/ listen. It was fairly predictable, as storylines go, but still, it was a little escape from the real world for a bit.

This book was intense! I loved The Castaways and didn't think I could enjoy this book as much but it was better. The premise was brilliant and the delivery even better.

I spent so many parts of the book reading with held breath because it was so tense. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers and will be automatically buying anything by this author in future.

One of the Girls - Lucy Clarke

Firstly I thought there were just the right amount of characters within this story to keep it super entertaining without getting confusing. I loved the narration and sped through it due to the suspense created by the author. The food and setting descriptions were amazing, plenty of secrets to be discovered with an amazing ending! Thank you so much NetGalley and HarperCollins UK Audio for the audio version of this book in return fir my honest opinion.

I was really looking forward to reading this book because the reviews speak so highly of it. I was a little let down though. Don't get me wrong, its a good book and the premise of a group of girls going away on a hens where something happens is a good one but I felt it was a little slow paced. This is more of a character driven drama than a thriller as the action does not really ramp up until the very end so if you are looking for a fast paced novel this might be a bit too sedate, its a slow burner. Overall a good book and a nice beach read if you are looking for something a bit darker.

I listened to this as an audiobook and it comes across well unlike quite a few other thrillers, interesting characters and a plot development that keeps you engaged on your commute

This was a fun beach read thriller, perfect for sitting by the pool with a cocktail. The story was intriguing and kept me hooked throughout and I enjoyed the narration style.

An entertaining read for my commute into work. Six women come together for a hen weekend in Greece. Three are old school friends; the other three are seemingly unconnected. One is the partner of the maid of honour, one is the sister in law of the bride and the other a friend of the bride, Surprise revelations from some of the characters have others reeling and it’s not too soon before things start to unravel. A good read, but a bit predictable in places.

The narrator made for pleasant listening. Not too over the top as some narrators are.

Enjoyed the dynamics of the group of friends and how little by little the secrets emerged - ending with a blockbuster of a finish. The setting in Greece made it just a bit more exotic.

This is my first book by this author, but I certainly want to read more.

As an author, this book was an absolute masterclass in how to write the perfect psychological thriller. Everything was on point: the characters, the setting, the pacing, the split between past and present.

I listened to the audiobook and it was a wonderful way to enjoy the book. Fantastically read, exciting and interesting. I spent so much time clawing to get back to it.

This book has received high praise and it fully deserves it.

So many twists and turns. I constantly thought I knew what was going on and then would take that back a chapter later. i loved that I was continuously guessing what was going to happen next. The different points of view allowed the story to move at a great pace.

This is my first ever audio book that I've listened to and unfortunately for me it just wasn't the same as reading a book.

I found it hard to relate to the characters and often found myself drifting off.

My review may have been completely different if I'd have read the book.

The opening of this book was the a description of the zipping up of a body bag. The one identifying feature of the deceased was a red scarf.
The book back tracks to what led up to someone’s untimely death.
Six women head off for a sophisticated hen weekend in Greece. I say sophisticated as this was not a loud and drunken weekend in Benidorm, this was a beautiful secluded spot in Greece.
The ladies in question were not toxic as such but they each seemed to have issues, issues mostly with their own individual relationships/ friendships and so setting that tense scene.
They grow on you though when realise that they aren’t actually bad people, just people with their own personal battles.
Then you realise that one is going to murder but as a reader, you have become so invested in each of them and actually like them all, you don’t want one to be murdered.
Obviously there are twists and turns and all I can say is what happens on a hen weekend stays on the hen weekend!
Great book, full of suspense and atmospheric tension.

With thanks to #NetGalley and HarperCollins UK Audio for the preview. #oneoftheGirls

While I enjoyed this audiobook, I wouldn’t describe it as a thriller as such - more of a dramatic read. It was well narrated but I did find it difficult at times to keep track of the characters & found myself having to go back over certain parts/chapters to remember who was who. A good poolside read.

I binged this book so quickly, it’s short chapters kept me reading and the end of every chapter was a “just one more chapter” moment. An engaging and thrilling read which kept me reading to find out what happened.

I enjoyed the characters and felt like they were all very relatable and very well written.
