Another great book from Liz Dean. I bought this on Kindle as soon as it was available, but I will also likely acquire the paper version soon. Every Liz Dean book I've read throws in one technique that I've never heard of before. I particularly liked her suggestion to do a reading with the Major Arcana plus whatever suit matches the situation you need guidance on. (Cups for emotional matters, etc.) I would like to thank Netgalley for providing the opportunity to read this before publication.

Is visual for the card and spread examples. Different topics were introduced as well. The numbers are divided into different areas that may be part of a reading (ex. love and career).

This was a really informative way to look at reading Tarot, bringing numerology into the equation. As someone who is working on expanding my knowledge of the Tarot, Liz Dean's Tarot by Numbers is a great tool.

I am very limited in my scope of knowledge with tarot, but have dabbled here and there in my lifetime. While many guidebooks organize and educate in a very specific way, this is very different. The organization structure is much more user-friendly in my opinion, and gives many different card layouts for specific readings. This book also offers information to more closely unite one's self to the cards. Many people who read tarot find connection over time to their decks, and I feel giving insight into how you could be connected to the cards overall helps to bridge the gap of connecting with the deck. I'm excited to spend more time reading over this and returning to it for reference.

Well done!

Tarot by Numbers by Liz Dean is an informative look into the meaning of the cards from a numerical perspective.

What Worked for me
1. Straight Forward writing style
2. Number meanings that should work for most 78 card tarot deck.
3. Enjoyable Layouts provided
What Didn't Work for me as well
1. The reliance on the more popular 78 card tarot deck set up did leave me wanting an exploration of how this numeric system of interpretation might also apply to the lesser used tarot systems.
2. My E-arc had some interesting rendering errors that minor reading difficulties.

Who I would recommend the book to?
Tarot by the Numbers is an excellent read for beginning to indeterminate tarot readers with an interest in numerology.

I cannot believe how helpful this book is to me. This book breaks down the material so you don't have to get frustrated trying to memorize the cards. I fell in love with this book. It makes tarot so easy and seamless. I am definitely adding this book to my personal library.

There are so many levels and layers to tarot that it's hard for a beginner to know where to start. Majors? Minors? Pictures? Pips? Even the choice of deck makes things so complicated.

That's where this book comes in. Based on the RWS system, it uses numbers and suits to teach a shorthand version of the cards, so it doesn't matter what deck you're using; as long as you know the suit and number you can work out the meaning. It also shows how these numbers relate to the Majors, which use a different numbering system.

The cards illustrating each number are the basic RWS deck, which is the one beginners are advised to learn on. This makes it really accessible. Tables and plans are carefully laid out to avoid overwhelming the reader with too much information at once.

This book is great for both beginners and more experienced readers looking to brush up a bit. I know I'll be referring back to it for a good while to come.

A fantastic resource for learning to read tarot.
I got a lot of understanding out of this book. The book is short and it packed full of insight on how to read the cards and how to learn their meanings quickly.
I will definitely be picking up a physical copy.
The author brings up insights I have never considered before, like how the lovers card and the devils card is so strikingly similar.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for making this title available for me.

Exactly what an introductory book to Tarot Numerology should be.
Liz Dean's book, Tarot By Numbers, contains factual and interesting history of tarot without relying on myths or superstition. The techniques are clear and easy to practice.
I've been reading tarot for 13 years and came into this book expecting some tried and true basics. I was pleasantly surprised by a few things.
- Using the numbers intuitively when meditating on the cards was a surprise. I expected the book to be straightforward numerology with the tarot so seeing this intuitive bit was a pleasant surprise.
- Hidden numbers in the cards. I've seen this come up in tarot group discussions among readers when looking for connections in spreads such as drawing 2 court cards that are 8's and also the Magician with its infinity symbol resembling an 8. It was neat to see this referred to in other cards as well without necessarily the need for connection in spread.
- The boost alignment technique of using only 1 suit in accordance to your reading focus (cups for relationships, swords for judicial system, etc) and the major arcana was also neat to see in a beginner book as this was a technique I didn't run into until later in my practice as a reader.

A note on Fair Winds Press and the book: I really enjoyed the pretty illustrations and the set up of historical facts to break up parts and chapters. However, the column style of the pages was hard to read on my e-reader/tablet without messing around with zooming in and out.

All in all, this is a great book for beginner and practicing tarot readers wanting a refreshing take on numerology and tarot.

This is a fantastic book for a beginner! I was worried that I would get quite lost but it was easy to read and easy to understand. The book went in depth into not only the cards and symbolism but the meanings behind the numbers too. It even went into layouts and the best way to read. Very easy to learn from this book. Thank you to the author and Netgalley for giving me a chance to read in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for providing me with copy jf this book.

I have long been interested in the topic of tarot and numerology, and could not figure out where to start. And this book helped me a lot. If you are a beginner like me, feel free to pick up this book: a lot of interesting information given for beginners, various examples of layouts. Also, examples are given for various information, which makes it possible to better understand the material read.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and made a lot of notes.

This is a really interesting guide to tarot with a focus I hadn't previously encountered before. Newcomers to tarot might be better off looking elsewhere as they could become confused, especially by the interaction between horoscopes, the elements, numerology, and later on, kabbalah.

I enjoyed Liz Dean's writing and knowledge, and would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a different slant on their cards, and there are some varied spreads for you to try.

This book gave me lots of information on setting up my readings. However, once it got into the numerology, i was very confused. I think you need to be very informed about tarot already in order for this book to help.

A great tarot book using a different way to interpret the cards--using numerology.

I have some experience with tarot cards, but this book helped expand my knowledge and understanding of them. I was not familiar with using the numbers to interpret, and this book really helped make it easy to understand.

I also liked how to figure out the cards and how they work together. The information was very thorough, and would be good for the beginner and intermediate tarot reader.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

I have a MacBook and am unable to download this title to review. This book really interested me so I was so looking forward to reading and reviewing it. If it was available for Kindle download I would have been able to. Thank you to Quarto Publishing and NetGalley anyway for allowing me to try to access it. I have to star it before I can leave this review so due to the subject matter and reviews of those who could access it I will leave it five stars.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book! It is a fairly quick read, but packed full of information to make you think about your cards in different ways. If you have been struggling with card meanings, this is another way of looking at the cards that is much more intuitive than just rote memorization. In addition to interpreting individual cards, there is information here about finding meaning from a card’s numbers and location in the numeric sequences within the deck; there are many new card layouts for readings; as well as a system for identifying and finding meaning for tarot birth cards and cards that are yearly influencers. It’s all explained succinctly and clearly. The appendix contains a short directory of card meanings, and a discussion on the connections between the cards and Kabbalah. There is also an index for quick sourcing.

This will be a great reference for beginners as well as those who have more experience reading the cards but want to add numerology to their arsenal, and the new layouts will add depth to your readings and a practical way of processing and practicing using the new information. Highly recommended!

I've always been interested in tarot and their meaning, but there's so much information about it and most of it assumes you already have some prior knowledge of the subject—it's very overwhelming.

Tarot by Numbers is absolutely brilliant. It's for me and people like me; complete newcomers. It's a great introductory text that straightforwardly and coherently explains the subject, and presents it in a very manageable and digestible manner. The illustrations are prettily done and straight to the point.

I'll be definitely picking up this book in store as I was looking for a reference book like this for a while.

One of the best tarot books I’ve ever read. It makes it much easier to associate the cards with their meanings and also to understand their connection. Tarot might seem a little confusing when you’re a newbie, with so many cards and stories behind them. But with this book it becomes much easier, learning techniques that will show you how everything makes perfect sense. Loved it!
