This was one of the longest audio books that I have listened to, but it did not feel like it.
I couldn't wait to get out walking and listening.
I loved the story, which kept me guessing all of the way through. The characters had depth and feeling and I could connect to many of them in lots of different ways.
This is my first book by these authors but it won't be my last.
I intend to purchase this book for friend's birthdays as I know they will really enjoy it.

A body has been found in a box, but the box is like a magician's stage prop. Detective Mina enlists the skills of the 'Master Mentalist,' Vincent Walder.
But when another body is found and they realise numbers are being carved as a count they must work quickly to catch the murderer before they get to victim number one ends up dead.

This was a very heavy crime novel, which at times had me clenching my stomach and pausing before being able to continue.

These two authors have written a crime novel full of leads and twists with each character having their backstory; each has their own separate conclusions at the end. This is done so well the reader becomes invested in each character and we crave to want more.

This is the first novel in a series and I look forward to reading more of Mina and Vincent on another case.

My goodness! An interesting idea with intriguing thriller mystery but, where others may love it, for me, it was drawn out, long winded with a flat finale.
I kept on, hoping for the pace to haste yet sadly it didn’t.
Others will really enjoy this slow paced tale but for me, not my cup of tea.

Oooh I loved this audio and can’t wait to meet Vincent and Mina again so hope it’s really soon please Camila and Henrik??? This is a real twisted tale about a murderer using magic tricks as their killing method and the police calling in an expert to try and discover what is going on and how to stop them before they kill again. I was kept on the edge of my seat trying to work out who was responsible and what was going on and was blown away by this. Roll on the next book.

My first novel by Lackberg, this is a twisty, dark story that is more than just the standard police procedural.

Detective Mina Dabiri enlists the help of Vincent Walter, a celebrity 'Mentalist' who is able to see the patterns behind tricks and slights of hand, but also people's actions - and, as is revealed, murder cases. Revolved around magic tricks, the murders become more puzzling and the police seem to be on the back foot, so bringing Vincent in makes sense, though not everyone gets why Mina did it. These two work together well, they are both a bit of a contrast to everyone else, seeing and approaching the world in slightly different ways to those they work with, but together they flow well, and understand each other's nuances.

This combination of police detective and mentalist is one I have enjoyed before (the TV show The Mentalist is one I thoroughly enjoyed) and I like the mental and psychological approach to solving issues, as well as the more traditional police methods. Interspersed in the crime solving, are snippets of the lives of the police and Vincent themselves. I felt most of these worked really well, and added to my enjoyment, often offering moments of relief from the sometimes gruesome crimes. I didn't particularly enjoy Vincent's personal life and escapades; if it had just been Mina and himself working I'd have been a lot happier! However, as this appears to be the first in a series with the two main characters, I so get why we needed that background information.

A solid, often very fast paced thriller, you could pick up a lot worse to read!

The story is quite long compared to most modern thrillers, but

I was given the ebook and the audiobook of this novel and decided to listen to it. A very lengthy listen of 17hours ! It was a good storyline though I did feel that the authors ‘padded’ the storyline out with unnecessary chapters making the book a lot longer than it needed to be. The storyline was original and even though a bit of a slow burner to start ended up being extremely gripping making you want to listen/read that next chapter !
The narrator was good and very easy to listen too.

Really enjoyed this read unexpectedly. The narrator was spot on. Liked the plot and concept. Twists and turns kept me intrigued. Also liked the cover art. 5 stars.

Trapped
By Camille Lackberg & Henrik Fexeus

Nordic noir at it's most terrifying. This is a collaboration between Swedish crime writer Lackberg and mentalist Fexeus and the result is stunning; all the fluid writing, fully fleshed characterisation, atmospheric, visual settings and acerbic wit that Lackberg is renowned for alongside the psychology and mentalist knowhow of Lexeus.

There is a huge cast of characters to keep track of, something I normally have difficulty with, especially in audio, but because each one had an instant identity and unique qualities it didn't take long to know them. Kudos to the narrator for her acting ability in making each person an individual.

I absolutely love how this author paints her settings. She made me feel like I was tear-arsing around Stockholm myself. .I have never been, but that needs to change soon, because I think I would be right at home there.

A series of themed murders, grizzly deaths, coded messages, for our flawed characters, dealing with racism, disability awareness, OCD tendencies, addiction, there is a lot to unpack.

I have seen reviews complaining about the length of this book, and at 17+ hours of audio one may baulk, but there are a lot of clues that might lead us to believe that this one is being pitched at TV. I can see it being a 10 episode show, and there is certainly enough material within. Structurally there is also enough to keep me listening and interested for those 17 hours, there's no saggy middle here.

Thanks to #netgalley and #harpercollinsukaudio for the eALC

I was lucky enough to listen to an audiobook copy for an honest review, I’m glad I listened to it as I’m not sure I could of read the names and places as well as the narrator Helen Kelley,
Detective Mina Dabiri is called into a murder investigation of a woman trapped inside a magician’s box, with swords pierced through. With no idea how or why the murder occurred she is given the name of a celebrity mentalist, Vincent Walder. who might be able to help with the investigation, I found the story line, great my only criticism is, this is a long book, the audiobook is over 18 hours long and with a good edit it could of been a tighter story after all how many times did we need to hear Vincent’s jealous wife vent at him.
If there are any more books with this duo I shall definitely read them.

Trapped is a great audio that had me drawn in from the start. The narrator, Helen Keely was absolutely the right narrator for this superb thriller. The shocking murder that happens at the start absolutely makes you sit up and pay attention like no other murder. As it's an audio you can just imagine the murder in all its grisly gore in your minds eye. It's creepy and made me shudder that anyone could carry out such an horrific act. I loved this audio a lot. I would recommend to readers who love a strong story with a murder that you never forget.

Mina Dabiri, a détective, asks for the help of Vincent Walder, a mentalist, to solve a series of murders in Sweden. The first victim to be found was trapped in a magician's box, pierced through with swords, a Roman numeral branded on her body.

I listened to the audiobook, brilliantly narrated by Helen Keeley.

The story was riveting and the characters were well fleshed out. I enjoyed the growing relationship between Vincent and Mina and found the magician angle original.. However, while I thought initially that Mina's phobias and Vincent's ability to read people made for fascinating character traits, I ended up finding these traits so overdone that it grated on my nerves.

On the whole, a really good story, albeit a little long, and a good duo that it would be interesting to see solve more murders together!

This is a very interesting crime novel, which is very long, so it will keep you entertained for hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed the thrilling story, and the characters of Detective Mina Dabir and Mentalist Vincent Walder. Both of them together made a good team, and I enjoyed their investigations into some murders. If you like your books gruesome, then this book is for you, as it goes into a lot of gory details. If you like Chris Carter and Karin Slaughter's books, then you will like this one too.

The audiobook narrator was very good, although I had to listen to her on a slower speed for the book to flow more easily for me. This meant the book lasted for a very long time, but it was worth every second.

Overall, this is a fabulous book, which I recommend highly.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, the narrator and the publisher for this book.

Whilst this was quite a long book, I really enjoyed it. I would say that the narrator spoke a little slowly for my taste but I listened at 1.5 speed and that was perfect.

Crime thriller with magician's trick thrown in, perfect! I enjoyed the characters in the novel as well as the descriptions of the setting. I'm really interested as well to see where the series goes in the future and will be looking out for these to be released in the future.

Although very long I really enjoyed this audiobook, some parts seemed to repeat a lot but the story was quite complex so the repetition I felt was needed. I was kept guessing the whole time and loved how it all finally came together, very different from anything I have h

Thrilling, exciting and suspenseful with excellent detailed descriptions. An unlikely team of the police and a master of illusion join together to solve a meticulously planned murder. (Quite brutal in parts, so if you’re squeamish maybe not for you.)

In a happy accident we have recently visited Stockholm, so some of the information was not new to me and the places were easy to visualise, which made it all the better. The character writing is believable and immersive. Mia is clever and vulnerable, Victor is flawed but likeable and Reuben is awful, self obsessed, misogynistic and rude - overall very realistic for a police officer.

It has a few clichés and the end was a little cheesy, but overall great. I enjoyed the narrator, they were clear with good intonation and distinct voicing.

An excellent title as several of the characters are revealed to be 'trapped' in many different ways. As an audiobook, the rather graphic details in Läckberg's novels cannot be skimmed over which can be rather unsettling sometimes. No idea if this is the start of a series but really enjoyed the interaction between all the main police characters and Vincent. Thanks to Netgalley.

I love scandi noir but have never listened to an audio book before so wasn't sure if I'd find it as engaging as if I was reading it myself but woooooow!! This surpassed my expectations. I actually loved being able to listen to it and continue the story whilst I was walking the dogs or driving to work. It's the highest of standard of writing, the characters are all so individual and we'll rounded, the story starts with a bang and then keeps you hooked the entire time and even the details about the police proceedure and also the magic aspec, were just done perfectly! Clealry a lot of work went into researching and speaking to experts and it most definitely pays off. This is everything you could want from a thriller! I'd highly recommend

Wow. I absolutely loved this book! I listened to the audiobook version and from the first gruesome scene I was absolutely hooked.
Not for the faint hearted, but right up my street.

Hope to catch future books to see how Mina and Vincent relationship evolves.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for letting me review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

From the very opening of a grisly murder you are hooked. We then follow Detective Mina Dabir and Mentalist Vincent Walder as they embark on solving the case.
A long story but well worth sticking with.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to hear an ARC

An unlikely joining of a Detective Mina Dabir and Famous Mentalist Vincent Walder in the investigation of some gruesome murders
The first murder was described to well I found myself holding my breath so after that I was hooked

Mina & Vincent are alike in many ways and have their own little phobias so the joining of these two for this case and apparently further books in the series is definitely something different
There were a lot of characters in the storyline which did have me replaying a number of the chapters to get back on track so I can't say it really had the thriller and shock element. after the first murder but its still worth a listen and I will be looking out for the next one in the series

I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for an advance copy of Trapped, a stand-alone thriller set in Stockholm featuring Detective Mina Dabiri and mentalist Vincent Walder.
