Great, informative, perfect addition to any kids room or classroom bookshelf!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

Not my first experience of the merits of this series, this once again gives us a handful of animals and shows us a photographic timeline of their growth from birth. So the owlet is at first still in the egg, the fox cub is gaining some kind of blundering slinkiness after two weeks, and the squirrel is taking what seems quite a surprising time to mature – compared, say, to the rat (not here) that can breed after nine weeks. Fine production details do make the book a cute one, as well as a biology lesson, but the young audience for this are intended to be very young, and such an encouragement to them learning about nature is probably necessary. A healthy, budding four stars.

What a brilliant book! Taught me some things too - I didn’t know, for example, that a baby mouse is called a pup. I am going to love sharing this book with my grandson when he is a little older - currently only 6 months!. Such a good book for starting many conversations at different ages about how animals grow, conservation, the importance of protecting our forests etc. this book contains gorgeous photographs of woodland animals from birth through to adulthood with clear, basic explanations of what they are able to do at each stage. I found it fascinating. Would make a great gift for a young family member.
